I wouldn’t really count Lukas Graham as a one hit wonder (sadly) but the definition is so skewed here. Lewis’s other stuff would’ve charted already so he’s probably doomed to one hit wonder status. I would throw James Blake and James Bay in there due to them being so forgettable I confused them with James Arthur. Anyway, I hope that Trampoline rebounds. They're one hit wonders stateside. I know all three have had at several other Top 40 hits back in the UK but those songs never cracked the Hot 100, with the exception of Love Someone last year, and even then it was only a modest hit, I don't think it even made it past the Top 75. Also I totally forgot about James Bay but yeah, you can throw 'Let It Go' in with other terrible adult alternative hits of the decade. Apparently you’ve forgotten Mama Said, which was a modest top 40 caught between years.

With 7 Years, Say You Won't Let Go and Someone You Loved, I wonder which European one hit wonder will go down as having the worst ballad of the 2010s I wouldn’t really count Lukas Graham as a one hit wonder (sadly) but the definition is so skewed here. Lewis’s other stuff would’ve charted already so he’s probably doomed to one hit wonder status. Don't throw James Blake alongside these male AC singers, sis.

It’s based on long term collective memory. They’ll be remembered for one song and they’ll be labeled a one hit wonder as a result.

(also Mama Said wasn't a song caught between years, it fell off before the chart year had even wrapped up)

Lights Up stayed in the Spotify Top 5, I thought it would be out in the top 10 by now. I wonder how high it would debut.

I swear I heard it a lot a couple years ago. But really, Lukas Graham has to be the lamest act to chart this century.

Which is the whole point of the definition one hit wonder. It’s not literal. It’s based on long term collective memory. They’ll be remembered for one song and they’ll be labeled a one hit wonder as a result. How do you prove what is "collective memory" though? You can’t. And sometimes it’s alright. Plenty of pop culture things can’t be proven and plenty of things from nostalgia are rebranded to fit into new labels. One hit wonder is one of them. It’s a term meant to experience nostalgia of a time from our youths. People just take the term “one hit wonder” so literally when they can’t even define what a “hit” is.
