Songs like Somebody That I Used to Know, All of Me and Perfect would be hits during any era. SYL is not that remarkable but not really a wonder it's doing so well. Will be the biggest hit of the year in the UK too.

So, I finally listened to Someone You Loved and I LOVE IT. It's a cute, generic ballad, but it works. Easily a song a singer like James Arthur would make. There are points in the song where I worry for his vocals, but otherwise, it's a good song. Why all the hate? Go, Lewis! Wow, you ONLY listened to it until now?! lol. That's surprising given your large presence on this board and all the in-depth commentary you provide, but I'm glad you loved it, so do I!

So is everyone going to think a new Adele song is coming out each week or are we actually probably getting something new in 25 mins? Itβs Rihanna all over again, until the artists either announces it, or says donβt expect it to come out soon

I don't really listen to songs if they're not by people I'm a fan of. Often times, I don't check out a song till it's charted really high or gotten discussed about a lot and I kinda have to see it for myself. I didn't listen to Truth Hurts till it reached the top 10. It took me a while to get onto Billie Eilish. Interestingly enough, I'm always searching for new and interesting obscure indie bands.

I have this sinking feeling (or more accurately, floating feeling) that Circles will actually take the #1 this week. Why? It's really not all that close. This week is definitely Truth Hurts or Lewis Capaldi. Itβs only 7% short by Simonβs Preds and could totally pass at the end. I still stand by predicting it @ #2 but itβs not out of the question

That is freaking crazy, I don't know about y'all but I never expected Selena to do such numbers, even with a comeback song. It looks more and more like she should've waited with releasing LYTLM till Friday. Of course, she doesn't have these huge streaming numbers that Travis had with HIGHEST IN THE ROOM but she'll definitely do better than him on the radio.

I think SYL got it this week. Last week they were very close plus they removed the itunes sale. I believe they are confident they've got it.

SYL lost 0.87 AI today despite gaining a format so I wouldn't be so optimistic

LYTLM is #1 on Spotify with 2.5M, that is like 4.6M streams from Spotify alone in two days. Should debut top 30 on Hot 100.

LYTLM is fantastic! I hope she'll it to #1 somewhere down the line. The midweek release is looking worse and worse now.

HITR did but it had full week, much higher debut and is now at #6. It must be very steady on streaming to climb to top 5 next week which is a challenge but of course possible.
That midweek release decision is baffling in every aspect.

But wow what a s**tty release date ! Would be crazy if the momentum continues and she actually lands at number 1 the 11/09 week

I think it's safe to say that Selena will have two songs in the top 20 next week (LYTLM will be in the top 10 for sure).

The top 4 is so close this week in terms of points, that any song in this region could theoretically grab the #1 spot (even Senorita or Circles).

It sounds like a great song when sung by a woman/from a woman's perspective.

What's funny is that I've played Someone You Loved so many times in my house that when my puppy hears the keys followed by ''I'm going under and this time I feel there's no one to save me,'' he runs to me with his entire body bopping along. He doesn't quite move to it as much as the other songs I play frequently, but in a few short days, he already knows and likes Someone You Loved, too.

I think LYTLM will debut number one in sales at least because of their front loaded nature and overall weakness.

Songs that are released mid week tend to increase in streams over the course of that week on Spotify. I believe LYTLM will increase significantly for the friday update.

Maybe they released it midweek because they didn't expect it to open this huge and they thought a very high debut wouldn't have all been in the bag, especially since her previous four singles (Bad Liar, Fetish, Wolves, and Back to You) either did just ok or outright flopped. It's interesting, it seems that any one of those previous four singles could have been the "first single" to her next album, but since they didn't perform probably well enough to their liking, they kept on waiting. Usually when artists see such diminishing returns, it doesn't pay off to keep waiting for that "first lead single" to hit, but in her case, and somewhat strangely, maybe it has.

Selena's singles usually peak later so they probably weren't too picky when they released it
It'd be a shame if this had a chance at #1
