I kind of want to see Someone You Loved go #1 this week just to see the meltdown from half of Pulse. Interesting! I feel like I'm in the minority by not liking it. I feel like we'd see a bigger meltdown if it missed #1, especially in this weak week. Selena's mid-week release is looking pretty unfortunate now. A lot of people I know in other music forums pretty much all hate the song, and they're all pretty pissed when they saw Simon's predictions.

Can someone explain to me why Bad Guy is still remaining in the top ten even though it has low radio and streaming? It's still in the top 10 on Streaming chart, currently it's #12 on Radio and in the top 20 on iTunes. Harleys at #100 ? Yeaaah SYL at #1, c'mon!!! I'm so sick of Truth Hurts.

That'd be cool. She'd be the second female to do it after Taylor Swift, right? On this thread, the people who don't like Someone You Loved are more vocal really. We who like the song are quieter lol

As much as I dislike Someone You Loved, it's very interesting to see how a piano ballad does well in the streaming age. It wouldn't do so well in 2017-2018 when Spotify was extremely urban-dominated and it only had to rely on radio to climb on the charts.

Selena 131 points in 2 days..... that would be 455 in a full week. Obviously numbers would likely be lower as the week progressed but.....She really screwed herself from a #1 Who knows she could climb to number one if Adele doesnโt release

SYL isnโt my favorite per say but itโs okay, the vocals can get grating and the song is slow, but I donโt understand why people donโt want it at number one. Isnโt more number ones a good thing?

Itโs one thing to not support the song but to actually be angered when it hits number one is a bit childish, isnโt it? Disappointed would be fine, but to be fuming in anger?

I personally love Lizzo and I'm really, really rooting for her to break the rap record. Also, Capaldi will have more cracks at the #1 title whereas this is pretty much Lizzo's last week. Also, SYL is a bland, repetitive, poorly sung song and I can't root for it to get to #1. I don't think anyone is fuming in anger though ( but it would be kinda weird if they did)

This is honestly the one thing that really surprised on how it's doing so well on Spotify since a piano ballad is really the last thing you would see breakout on US Spotify. I was really just hoping for the song to make it to the top 10 after Say You Won't Let Go missed, I was just relying on radio to push it there. Even Memories doing that well on Spotify surprised me especially that it didn't make a splash when it premiered but it just grew. US Spotify is still pretty much rap dominated so when songs like that manage to crack the top 10, it's fascinating to watch.

Spotify is opening up more and more, and I'd be willing to bet that its userbase is increasing rapidly. I expect that, in a few years, Spotify #1 won't be reserved just for the rap song du jour and new debuts, but rather will follow the #1 on the composite streaming chart.

I have this sinking feeling (or more accurately, floating feeling) that Circles will actually take the #1 this week.

I just want Truth Hurts to get dethroned, not because I dislike it, but because it feels so WRONG at #1. It's had it's time in the spotlight, but I feel like in the actual #1 right now in the public conscience is probably someone you loved or circles

If Selena's song is going to be a hit, it won't matter what day of the week it was released. If Truth Hurts, Old Town Road, Shallow, Someone You Loved, Sunflower, etc. we're released on a Tuesday or something, it wouldn't have stopped them being hits. Most big hits I actually have no idea when they were released. It only matters for stuff like Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears singles where they can get a decent 1st week peak, but little longevity. So they NEED the 1st week to be as good as possible so that it looks like more of a hit than it was on paper (in the media, on Wikipedia, etc.) . Taylor Swift seems to be heading in this direction as well, but likewise, her past hits like Shake It Off, Love Story, etc. would have smashed if released on any day of the week, but maybe she should not do midweek releases anymore. But Selena probably can, I'm sure most (maybe all) of her hits climbed to their peak didn't they? Yes all of Selena's recent hits (It Ain't Me, Wolves and Back To You) all climbed to at least #2 or #1 on Pop Radio so she will have that radio support 20+ weeks in like she did before. The sales and streaming seem a lot stronger with this era so I think she'll finally get a hit that out peaks Good For You. Wolves hit #6 and BTY hit #4 on pop radio.

Truth Hurts is an iconic song that everyone around me knows, including the DNA line. Circles is kinda... unimportant. Haven't heard anyone talk about SYL.

Jimmy Kimmel's surprise mystery guest tonight is not Adele, but its Kanye! he could definitely be trolling so no one guesses itโs Adele. If Iโm right.. then she and him are genius

My roots as a music fan include piano ballads so as a fan of the style, this song does nothing for me. But if it somehow leads to more piano ballads (hopefully better ones) might do well, bring it. If itโs just a one-off, keep it.

That song is also a Piano Ballad (and by far the biggest and most recognisable of the last 20 years along with โSomeone Like Youโ) and also took 30+ weeks to hit number one.

So is everyone going to think a new Adele song is coming out each week or are we actually probably getting something new in 25 mins?

So, I finally listened to Someone You Loved and I LOVE IT. It's a cute, generic ballad, but it works. Easily a song a singer like James Arthur would make. There are points in the song where I worry for his vocals, but otherwise, it's a good song. Why all the hate? Go, Lewis!
