Also Coldplay might release tomorrow although there's no 100% confirmation. Supposed tracks are called "Orphans" and "Arabesque".

I think it's smart for less dominant artists who will never stand chance of debuting high on the Hot 100 to release their songs on days that are not Friday. Especially when there's a big name expected to release new music on that day.
The goal is to get your fans, along with any extra support you can garner from the GP to focus attention on your music before the big act arrives. I'm totally here for more musicians doing that. I don't always have the patience to wait till the next Friday for new music.

Oh for f**k's sake. Where the f**k are big releases? I don't know if this counts, but... http://instagram.com/p/B37puFkhADX These two have a romantic history and whenever they get back to messing around with each other, a collaboration is usually around the corner. Rihanna has already said in an interview that Drake isn't on her new album, but you never know.

I remember talks about them retiring a couple of years ago. I'm so glad they're not only coming out with new music, but with a double album. They're one of the few iconic bands left still making and releasing music.

We're still in October. It just doesn't make sense to me that all these artists are waiting to drop during the same (busiest) time period. It's weird that no one is taking advantage of October. I have a feeling November and December are going to underwhelm just like this month.

Was it the fastest song to do that?

Personally, I don't believe that even half the number of people rumoured to be dropping new music in those months actually will, but we'll have to wait and see.

Was it the fastest song to do that? In the Streaming era perhaps. However, Elton John’s “Candle In The Wind: ‘97” was eligible for ‘Diamond’ five weeks after it was released, Billboard even stated so. These were it’s week-by-week sales throughout the first five weeks: • 3.5M • 1.2M • 750K • 672K • 565K ~7M sales. The only other song that had accumulated even close to such high sales approaching its sixth week of release was Houston’s “I Will Always Love You” and, arguably, Adele’s “Hello”.

Someone you loved remains totally boring to me, it was a global smash I hoped wouldn't hit the US but it unfortunately did I really like how Circles is going, #6 ready on radio should be #4 above the Ed tracks in a week and hit the top eventually?! I don't know if Take What You Want slowly taking off will hinder its performance

I'm really hoping that Truth Hurts can stay at #1 this week to break the female rap record, and Someone You Loved goes number one the next week.

I don't know if Take What You Want slowly taking off will hinder its performance I don't think the other singles from Hollywood's Bleeding will hinder Circles. I do think he's gonna push Enemies before he really pushes Take What You Want though.

Coldplay and Kanye are releasing this week so there are plenty of new music around. It's just that some are bigger hits than others, not all tracks can debut at #1. Travis Scott just did two weeks ago.
