If Selena's song is going to be a hit, it won't matter what day of the week it was released. If Truth Hurts, Old Town Road, Shallow, Someone You Loved, Sunflower, etc. we're released on a Tuesday or something, it wouldn't have stopped them being hits. Most big hits I actually have no idea when they were released. It only matters for stuff like Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears singles where they can get a decent 1st week peak, but little longevity. So they NEED the 1st week to be as good as possible so that it looks like more of a hit than it was on paper (in the media, on Wikipedia, etc.) . Taylor Swift seems to be heading in this direction as well, but likewise, her past hits like Shake It Off, Love Story, etc. would have smashed if released on any day of the week, but maybe she should not do midweek releases anymore. But Selena probably can, I'm sure most (maybe all) of her hits climbed to their peak didn't they? Yes all of Selena's recent hits (It Ain't Me, Wolves and Back To You) all climbed to at least #2 or #1 on Pop Radio so she will have that radio support 20+ weeks in like she did before. The sales and streaming seem a lot stronger with this era so I think she'll finally get a hit that out peaks Good For You. |

#1 on Spotify with 2.1M. Might debut in top 40 on Hot 100! Heck, even top 30. It is very reminiscent of MC’a debut @26 earlier this year, trading weaker streaming for stronger sales, radio, possibly YouTube and an extra 12 hours of tracking. |

If SYL does hit #1 it'll be one of the longest climbs to the top in chart history I believe at least 2 or 3 songs took at least 30 weeks to hit #1, which is just so hard to fathom. So SYL would need to sit tight for a while to get that record. Which is why I said one of the longest, not the longest. It'll be in the top 10 longest climbs for sure |
