It's so disappointing but Abel probably peaked with Starboy and will never approach that level of creativity again. Everything since has been lukewarm at best.

....is Bop going to reach the top 10? Seriously, these gains are mindblowing.
Also, we're most likely going to get 2 pairs of songs with the same name (Hate Me (Ellie), Hate Me (Trippie), Heartless (Diplo), Heartless (Abel)).
When was the last time this happened with completely different songs? I know this happened a fair amount in the glee era but those were with covers.

BOP should pretty easily reach the top 10. The music video is posting 3-5 million US views daily, and it's #2 on AM and #6 on Spotify.

So it actually looks like a lot of the songs associated with the AMAs are up on Spotify even MORE today, which I was not expecting at all! They are, however, definitely falling on iTunes and Apple Music. I'll go through and calculate everything for Spotify later tonight.

Damn, congrats to DaBaby for another Top 10 single. Looks like he's going to be the Ludacris/2 Chainz of the 2020s

I don't know if we've ever had two sets of two different songs with the same title, but here's a real chart oddity...on October 27, 1984, these songs were on the Hot 100: "In The Name Of Love" by Ralph MacDonald & Bill Withers at #98, "(What) In The Name Of Love" by Naked Eyes just above it at #97, and U2's "(Pride) In The Name of Love" debuting at #85. Three completely unrelated songs titled "In The Name of Love" on the chart in the same week, with two of them back to back!

I think the 2 Chainz Ludacris comparison is on point, both are very successful rappers that although have had solo songs, mostly appear as guest artists on many other songs that have funny senses of humor and are from the 'dirty south'. Dababy fits in with this crowd very well.

It feels so much better when DaBaby is the biggest rapper right now instead of 6ix9ine and Lil Pump two years ago.

I think DaBaby could serve as the hardcore rapper with a sense of humor, but who's just pop friendly enough to be an easy (and cheap) guest feature, kinda like Cardi B.

Ludacris dominated in a comparatively more friendly era to rap music.

Lol DaBaby has nowhere near the mainstream crossover power as Nelly did... the album that song was on went Diamond. And the following album had 2 #1 smashes, and he was the Top Artist of that year. Ludacris is definitely more fitting. Even though Luda did get higher peaking hits and more crossover play, he wasn’t near the mainstream level of the other top rappers (Nelly/Eminem/Jay). Similarly to DaBaby not being anywhere near the mainstream level of a Drake/Kendrick/Cole. I used to think Big Sean was similar to Luda too when he was on the radar.

I like BOP so hope it becomes a top ten hit, probably one of the biggest rap hits of recent times anyway.

Camila Cabello's last song on her album is rumored to be called Oh My My, featuring DaBaby. I would expect this to be pushed as a single in January because Living Proof won't do anything...

Ludacris has seven top tens as a Lead artist, and seventeen top tens when you include his hits as a featured act. Moreover, he has two Hot 100 number ones as a Lead artist and two more as a featured act.
Also he has four BB200 number one albums and is the recipient of 4 GRAMMY awards.
He may not have sold as much albums as Nelly or Jay-Z or Eminem at their peaks, or charted albums as long as they did, but his status as a hitmaker and crossover radio artist was solid.
Until DaBaby surpasses any of the aforementioned feats., he’s not Ludacris’ level. 🙄

You can say one artist is like another artist in terms of sound and quantity without one being as successful as the other. It's not all about chart success my guy

With songs like Roxanne, Yellow Hearts, and Falling gaining momentum very fast, it would be interesting if 2020 has a large number of Tik Tok generated one hit wonders. Obviously it’s too early to call any of those artists one hit wonders, but it seems like Tik Tok is going to usher in a ton of one off songs that make it big on the app in the same way Vine gave us Nasty Freestyle and Juju on that Beat Well, that'll give Todd a lot of material for One Hit Wonderland.

Until DaBaby surpasses any of the aforementioned feats., he’s not Ludacris’ level. 🙄 I really don't understand how wrote all that and didn't stop to grasp the concept, that a comparison doesn't mean we're indicating they have identical careers/success. People compared Gaga to Madonna in her first 3 years, even though she hadn't had a fraction of overall success as her. A comparison can simply be based on other things. Their audience reach/standing relative to their Hip-Hop peers is what we were clearly discussing. DaBaby has had a huge breakout year, but it's definitely more limited to the Urbansphere and he isn't anywhere near the mainstream power of top rappers. Ludacris, despite all those top 10s, was definitely more limited to the Urbansphere throughout his career and didn't have the mainstream power of other top rappers. He does not have a 'Lose Yourself', 'Empire State of Mind', or 'Hot in Herre' that is a universal classic that people outside Hip-Hop are all familiar with. DaBaby stands in that position, he's racked up plenty of hits so far, but nobody outside Hip-Hop would have much familiarity with them. He is yet to make a 'God's Plan', or 'Humble' level record and I doubt he will which is fine.
