I know it’s early, but are any of The Weeknd’s songs going number one? Or are they settling for a comfortable top ten placement thus far? It's definitely possible. The top ten is so weak, a top ten placement is almost a given but #1 would not surprise me. |

With a 80s vibe song Blinding Lights by The Weeknd could debut at #1? 🤔 Blinding lights already has a million views on youtube 9 hours of its release (ik its worldwide views but i’m pretty sure a good percentage is US), advertised everywhere on spotify/apple music, used in the new Mercedes benz commercial, possibly a times square ad and this maybe is going on radio. Top 10 is secured and i would say #1 but we have to see |

We could potentially have a pretty crazy December between Christmas music, year end/decade end radio charts and streaming, along with whatever else is getting big at the time. I don’t know how invested people that aren’t chart watchers are in decade end kind of stuff but if they see a list or a playlist then they may listen.

Looks like I'm in the minority who likes Heartless more than Blinding Lights but as long as Heartless spends at least one week on top, I'm fine with Lights also going number one. It might be interesting to see if they trade weeks on top.

I doubt the weekend has the power to debut at #1, top 5 is Def possible though Selena was #1 like 3 weeks ago, he's bigger than her and current #1 is below 30k points. It's very possible. |

Heartless has a better chance imo since it has a radio deal and Blinding Lights doesn't.

Blinding Lights sounds like a 7th single release from any number of 80’s albums. Terrible song. And Heartless sounds just like his other song.

Heartless will probably debut in 100-60 range for the week of 12/7 and then get a massive boost next week. Blinding Lights will debut in the top 10 on 12/14.

Heartless is pretty much on par with any other Bruno Mars "retro" song. It's a decent imitation but nothing more than that. I mean it's not Greta Van Fleet levels of bad appropriation because Abel's still a good performer but the bar should be higher than "well, it's better GVF".

Just saw Frozen 2 and I'm now even more curious as to why they're pushing Into the Unknown as the big single.
I think Elsa's second song, Show Yourself, is a much more powerful and crowd pleasing song.

I'm guessing The Weeknd is receiving the vast majority of his streams from Apple Music, since Heartless debuted with 13.97 million streams in its first two days, with only 5.01 million of those coming from Spotify. That should offset his mediocre performance on Spotify.
