I'm hoping The Weeknd debuts at #1, I don't really care which song it ends up being because I love both.

A couple months ago someone said βOld Town Roadβ underperformed a little bit because it didnβt spend as much time in the top 5 as other longtime #1s. People love throwing around flop and underperforming.

At this point I donβt think Weekndβll debut number one, but I REALLH hope he does. Hopefully Apple Music saves him.

Still remember arguing with people he'd flop just because 'Lost in the Fire' did. "iT's MoRe A wEeKnD sOnG tHaN a GeSaFfElStEiN sOnG"

I'm guessing The Weeknd is receiving the vast majority of his streams from Apple Music, since Heartless debuted with 13.97 million streams in its first two days, with only 4.35 million of those coming from Spotify. That should offset his more mediocre performance on Spotify. I feel like apple music is now the way to go for streaming and getting high chart positions Well, it's difficult to say as AM doesn't reveal their numbers but judging by how Bandit by Juice WRLD did last week on Hot 100 (#28) after being in or close to top ten on both AM and Spotify, the regular top ten song on AM does not collect much more streams than on Spotify, if at all. It's all about how individual songs do and the numbers can be pretty much anything in both outlets AM and Spotify. Fabolous has two songs in AM top ten btw according to Kworb!

Safe to say both the Weeknd songs reach the top 10?

I noticed Let It Go is actually rising on YouTube. Is it gonna start being treated as a Christmas song?

The turn over within the top 20 has been ramping up which is refreshing compared some of the weeks in early spring and mid to late summer this year.

I wonder which songs are gonna be blocked out of the top 10 due to Christmas songs this year. Last year it was Wake Up in the Sky and Money.

As much as I'd like it to hit Top 10, I see Ballin' likely being blocked. I also feel Hot's chance of rebounding w some steady radio games will be blocked. Woah too maybe

I feel Falling will have even less success as I predict ROXANNE to have. Roxanne is basically our new Ransom whereas I think it would be lucky if Falling cracks the Top 20 or even Top 25

I feel like apple music is now the way to go for streaming and getting high chart positions Yeah it's currently the more popular streaming platform here in the United States, at least in terms of subscribers. It seems like people are starting to leave spotify and go to apple music, though spotify won't admit it. In the past, 7-8 songs would get over a million a day, now only 4 songs max get a million. It's too bad cause spotify is the superior platform.

Apple Music: 37 (+22) Idina Menzel & AURORA - Into the Unknown
Wonder if this could go top 10 in a month or so. Maybe even higher if radio latches on.

It's too bad cause spotify is the superior platform. We can actually deduce, though, that once you get past the top few song on Apple Music, below the top 5-7ish, their numbers begin looking identical to Spotify. It's just that AM is 100% subscriber based. Spotify isn't. Spotify also crushes the competition worldwide. They're not too upset over being a strong #2 in the US.

I still think it's more about people listening to broader range of music. The top 100 tracks suffer in numbers but overall streaming is increasing.
There are old songs like Africa, Bohemian Rhapsody, Wonderwall etc get gigantic amount of streams every day.
Of course, Spotify makes the numbers more visible. You can easily check the daily streams from 2 years ago.
For instance, Starboy's (the song) daily peak on US Spotify was 2.07M. Heartless opened with better numbers but has fallen way below now.

There are old songs like Africa, Bohemian Rhapsody, Wonderwall etc get gigantic amount of streams every day. On YouTube as well. There are songs from the 80s, 90s and early 00s with a shockingly high amount of views (compared to how it used to be 5+ years ago when almost all of them used to have very little). Now some old classics have more total YouTube views than recent hit songs, whilst that used to be pretty rare. I expect that we'll start to see pre-Youtube songs hit 1 billion views next decade. But I don't necessarily think people are listening to a broader range of music, rather than a broader range of people streaming. In the earlier years it tended to be teenagers, young adults and hardcore music fans doing streaming, now young children and middle-aged people are doing it too.

Just saw Frozen 2 and I'm now even more curious as to why they're pushing Into the Unknown as the big single. I think Elsa's second song, Show Yourself, is a much more powerful and crowd pleasing song. Are any of the songs poised to chart? Also, I disagree. I think "Into The Unknown" is the better song. "All Is Found" is my favorite from the movie though
