The Christmas Song was actually 5 positions LOWER this year then last year. I wonder why it had such a drop

I thought "Christmas Tree Farm" would somehow re-enter but nope, seems like no one really cared for that song. It was also released a bit too far into the season to let it grow.

The Hot 100 is currently behind a paywall. This is worrysome. I hope it's not permanent.

I'm not sure, but it appears as if there are actually fewer overall christmas songs this year than last year, despite there being more in the top 10.
I wonder what caused this phenomenon.

Nope, here's the breakdown:
2018: Total Songs in Hot 100: 23 (21 classics + 2 currents) Songs in Top 50: 21 (all classics from here out) Songs in Top 40: 16 Songs in Top 20: 7 Songs in Top 10: 4 Songs in Top 5: 1
2019: Total Songs in Hot 100: 25 (23 classics + 2 currents) Songs in Top 50: 24 (23 classics + 1 current) Songs in Top 40: 19 (all classics from here out) Songs in Top 20: 9 Songs in Top 10: 5 Songs in Top 5: 4
From all of the major perspectives, this year was a net gain.

Something appears to be wrong with the charts. I can only load the updated Artist 100 one. The Hot 100 and Billboard 200 webpages show no charts. It seems that the paywalled charts are working.

Could they be adding a paywall to the H100 too?

There is more this year but maybe it feels that was due to expectations. Lots of us were surprised about how many songs charted as well as how high they did chart. This year had more but it was to be expected.

How can you use those words to describe your feelings!!! It's a mockery. I love the lord Jesus. Anyways the song is trash IMO. Too much hype for nothing. Lady Fucking Godga! lol

Is the hot 100 page on Billboard's website not working for anyone else?

^You're not alone. It seems to want to show something ... but ultimately you get a blank chart. So, I found you have to do the same trick as if it had the paywall, which is stop the webpage from loading completely. It also works for the Billboard 200 one. It seems both chart have 'invisible' paywalls.

Too bad for Last Christmas! Next Christmas maybe! Happy to see Underneath The Tree re-entering at #31! FWIW, I think Last Christmas is held back somewhat by the fact that is very 80s sounding. Part of the reason All I Want is so popular is that it sounds, if not timeless, then at least not OF its time. It sounds like a 60s wall of sound production, which according to both Mariah and Walter was on purpose. That may have hindered its popularity a bit in 94 when it was new, but it's certainly paid off for her now.

If you're using Chrome, just hit the Esc key at the same time as you're clicking the Hot 100 link -- this stops the page from completely loading before the paywall kicks in. Worked for me and I was able to view the entire chart.

Also, since this is the last opportunity to mention it this year, it is quite interesting to see how well or not some of the Holiday songs do year over year in the Hot 100. For example, the original version of Happy Xmas (War Is Over) wasn't able to re-enter the Hot 100 this season, probably because of the competing John Legend version and surely because of recurrent rules, even though it was #26 in the Holiday 100 while the latter was #45 there. The reverse is true of the original version of It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas, where the original version reached a new peak, while the Michael Buble version hasn't been able to re-enter the Hot 100 since they allowed older Holiday songs to re-enter.
Another one that almost made the top 50 in the Hot 100 last year, Cozy Little Christmas ended up #30 in Holiday Songs. Makes me wonder if Like It's Christmas will manage to re-enter next holiday season.
Finally, the big surprise this season was Happy Holiday / The Holiday Season which made the Hot 100 this time around, ending at #12 in the Holiday 100 after ending at #26 last year.
In conclusion, while we can expect most of the year's holiday songs charting in the Hot 100 to be able to chart in future seasons, there can still be some surprises.

"Nunca Es Suficiente" peaked at #9 on the Bubbling Under in February, and its last appearance on the chart was May 25, 2019, where it re-entered at #25... now, in January of 2020, it's back at #24...
