Circles has taken Sunflower's spot as the song with absurdly high streaming numbers despite being weeks (and soon to be months) after peaking in popularity. Longevity king

And once again, I won't be complaining about it sticking around past its peak because it's an actual great song and it suits whichever season, which is not the case for "I Don't Care" or "Señorita", which should be dead and buried by now (I know the same applies for "Sucker", but for me it's more of a great song that overstayed its welcome).

Saying Drake changed the music industry is kind of like saying the Avengers/MCU changed the film industry. It's not a lie (anything that's so huge and successful is bound to yield copycats), but it's usually not the idea that people wanted to highlight with the comment (people usually want to pass off those successes as "omg huge artistic achievement!!!!11!"). It doesn't have to be an artistic achievement, but Drake did infact change rap music. His style of rap music is the predominant kind of rap music being made right now. He's not by any means the first rapper to also sing, but he's the first person to mix both styles the way he does and it has influenced the current generation of not just rappers, but also R&B singers. Countless artists in this generation cite Drake as a major influence.

yeah drake's the best.
Anyways I'd hold off on calling any of Em's songs a hit just yet. His last album also had great streams on first week but none of the songs really did well on it's own afterwards, especially compared to several of Em's hits from years ago. These album bombs are very misleading.

I don't see any of the songs on the new Eminem album becoming a runaway hit. Godzilla will probably debut the highest and then fall off.

Hows "The Darkness" doing? That's the only one that has a video, but not officially a single?

No matter what how much the Eminem and Mac Miller albums impact the charts, I'm most excited for the vacuum week that will follow. I feel we'll finally get a clear view of what the charts will be like without any pesky Christmas songs or remnants from 2019 blocking any of the newer hit songs. We've already had The Box happen so I'm curious to see what else will be big.

Rihanna has shifted the industry and is a major influence. Taylor Swift has shifted the industry and is a major influence. Adele has shifted the industry and is a major influence. Drake has shifted the industry and is a major influence.
Almost (NOT ALL!) every big and modern ‘Popular’ artist has that to their credit in many ways, even Ed Sheeran who currently holds the record for the highest grossing singular tour in history.
We get it. Damn! It’s always the same conversation.
I’m not sure why we’re always talking about “The Beatles vs ...” when the former has records and especially sales units that will never be surpassed and they disbanded 45-50 years ago. No one compares, no matter how many “streams” they garner; it’s a completely different era.
Anyway...

When is the next Mediabase audience recalibration? It seems like numbers post-Xmas are unusually high. Nobody buys the radio industry's nonsense that audiences are growing - while 'reach' may be steady, time listened to radio had definitely dropped.
Based on the bizarre spikes (up today) and falls (like yesterday), I'm assuming Yummy got some sort of 2nd radio deal the previous weekend.

kierz- true. Comparing chart showing/achievements from emerging acts in the last 15 years or so to anything before it does not paint a fair and accurate comparison.

I'm so curious as to why are people even using iTunes anymore. I know the average #1 is like 30k which is very little but that's still 30,000 individuals paying for a single song when a Spotify subscription is a much more economically viable alternative.

Mediabase numbers are no longer reported. The ones above are Broadcast Data Systems/Billboard numbers.

I mean at least The Jonas Brothers are a band Panic! At The Disco stopped being a band years ago. You had to go there, had you? 😭 Well, paraphrasing from what a wise man once said (Sean Fay Wolfe from "Diamond Axe Studios"), I'd rather have a one-man band releasing songs like "High Hopes" and "Say Amen (Saturday Night)" than a band consisting of seven members releasing songs like "I Don't Wanna Know" and "Girls Like You" 🤷♀️ As for The Jonas Brothers, we'll have to wait and see. I have yet to listen to their new song, but I enjoyed "Sucker" and "Only Human" by a fair amount. As long as Maroon 5 is still there going strong, nobody is replacing them anytime soon, I'd imagine.

another thing i'll say about TikTok trends is while they're great it's kinda disappointing which ones actually have an effect on the charts and which don't. Can I Call You Tonight by Dayglow is pretty consistently big there but it hasn't had reverberations through the charts, except for the rock charts which are so weak that High Hopes has been on top for more than a year straight
