He's definitely going for a similar theme with these two, maybe even the whole era It didn't work for me personally on Heartless (song has grown on me though) and I'm worried it'll behave similarly on this next one These two songs are just kinda there with rarely any promo but still very big in their own rights (especially Blinding Lights easily having become his most successful and well-known song in my country)

Whatever happens, I hope it ends up being a great video. There seems to be a lot of anticipation for it.

Comparing The Beatles to Drake is a joke. The Beatles completely changed the music landscape in 1964. Thereβs a clear dividing line between pop music from 1963 to 1964. The Beatles lasted 6 years and are still considered the most influential band in the modern music era. Does Drake even write his own raps? I know he didnβt initially. Drake makes great music, but Itβs not even comparable. Silly conversation. Drake completely changed the music landscape of today to and his influence on music is undeniable

why are people so insistent on comparing a band from the 60βs where basically the only thing factoring into the charts were physical sales and a rapper from the 2010βs with streaming and airplay and digital sales all factored in and why is in a thread for a week where neither of them did anything drake gonna be top three this week its.not like he doing nothing

Kinda OT, but did anyone feel bad for The Testee? Most of the songs in their top 50 video is muted due to copyright (like Ed Sheeran songs or Lil Baby songs).

no, not the beatles/drake thing again. completely different eras. not comparable. end of story. I agree. Back in the 60s the Hot 100 was a singles chart. By definition album tracks weren't eligible to chart at all.

By definition album tracks weren't eligible to chart at all. I mean, I'm not joining the argument (Beatles are the most iconic artist ever, and Drake is the Drake of his time), but I don't get why 'album tracks didn't chart then' is always used as the main discredit for his success to be compared?? 0 of Drake's #1s are album tracks 3 of his 36 top 10s are album tracks. Y'all make it seem as if Drake's success is mostly due to album tracks being allowed to chart? And he has no actual hits or something?Β I'm also pretty sure that if you only count his overall Hot 100 entries that were radio singles, he'd still also have more total Hot 100 entries than them. The Beatles only had 70 Hot 100 entries... Drake has 206, and 136+ can't be album tracks, as that's like 10 entire studio albums charting.Β The only records he definitely wouldn't have without album tracks charting are the 'most simultaneous charting' records. He'd still have a huge amount of top 10s, top 20s, top 40s, and charting singles. He still would've spent the most weeks #1 ever in a calendar year, had 2 #1 debuts, most top 10 singles in a calendar year, 49 weeks #1, self-replacement #1's, streaming records, etc without album tracks. I think heβd even already have the record for most entries since Glee Cast only ever had 1 official radio single (btw Glee Cast is an actual artist you can argue only had their grand achievements stem from album cuts being included on Hot 100). Album tracks really don't have much to do with Drakeβs overall success on Hot 100...

Yummy went up 8-5 in Australia and 2-1 in New Zealand this week if that's any indication as to how it's gonna perform in the States... I believe the smoke due to the bushfires are messing with the internet servers. Because we don't claim Yummy down here!

Matthew Wilderβs βBreak My Strideβ has entered the top 100 songs on iTunes, Spotify & Apple Music in the US (at 45, 121 & 84 respectively) and globally. TikTok has made the music industry SO unpredictable and itβs THRILLING

Well it's coming on Tuesday at least, not Wednesday. Still weird timing. Yup. It's only gonna get 3 days out of the 7-day tracking period. Would have much smarter to drop the video on Friday morning. It's not like the Weeknd videos stay getting tons of views after the first week.

Day 4:
Eminem - 9,968,395 (-717,130) -7% Mac Miller - 8,283,488 (+31,403) +<1%
Note: One track (Alfred - Outro) from Eminem's album is not among top 200 (so it did less thank 230K streams). The 9.9 million is from 18/19 tracks.

In before the Jonas Brothers become the 2020βs Maroon 5 If that ends up happening, at least Panic! At The Disco will be no longer unjustly named as the next Maroon 5 (because they decided to make one pop album).

Speaking of bands that stopped being rock, do you still consider OneRepublic a band or are they more a Ryan Tedder venture at this point?

Saying Drake changed the music industry is kind of like saying the Avengers/MCU changed the film industry. It's not a lie (anything that's so huge and successful is bound to yield copycats), but it's usually not the idea that people wanted to highlight with the comment (people usually want to pass off those successes as "omg huge artistic achievement!!!!11!").

Spotify 01/19/20
1 (=) Roddy Ricch - The Box 3.199M 2 (=) Eminem - Godzilla 1.956M 3 (=) Future - Life is Good 1.929M 4 (=) Mac Miller - Good News 1.367M 5 (=) Arizona Zervas - ROXANNE 1.264M 6 (=) DaBaby- BOP 1.034M 7 (=) YNW Melly - Suicidal 996K 8(+2) Trevor Daniel - Falling 985K 9(-1) Post Malone - Circles 971K 10(-1) Mac Miller - Blue World 929K 11(+2) Halsey - You should be sad 926K
Halsey finally getting good streaming with 'You should be sad', it might be enough to push it to the Top 20 or even Top 10.

I'd expect Halsey to keep relatively stable after this week while Mac and Eminem should see sizable drops. She'll probably sneak her way into top 10 soon. (Memo to Spotify users, btw, we can all let "Circles" go now).

Circles has taken Sunflower's spot as the song with absurdly high streaming numbers despite being weeks (and soon to be months) after peaking in popularity.
