I think drake’s staying power is his unbelievable ability to take the trends of the time and improve on them in ways only he can. In 2009 he made big bombastic rap collective songs, in 2011 he made smooth rnb jams, in 2016 he hopped on a tropical house song, and in 2018-now he’s riding the trap boom to the moon This is why, when it comes to classic legends, Drake is more comparable to Madonna than the Beatles. Like Madonna from the 80s to the 00s, Drake keeps an ear to the underground to switch up his sound and stay relevant and fresh. They both also know how to use just enough controversy and drama to keep people interested. Two very career savvy artists.

Why are we comparing the losses of one song's what, 7th/8th day, to the losses "Look What You Made Me Do" experienced when it eventually peaked? We should be waiting to see them push the hell out of "Yummy" and maximize its artificial run potential and then see how it collapses (which I am sure will be massive) to take notes/compare IMO.

And just like that we're back to only 6 songs above 1 million streams on Spotify... That number should increase following Monday's update. Songs always take a massive hit during the weekend updates. I know, it's just so drastic compared to Friday.

I think it's becoming quite normal for hits to debut high, drop a bit in second week, then stabilize and have some bit of longevity on the charts. Some examples are Sucker, IDC, buwygib, If I Cant Have You, etc. I expect something like this to happen to Yummy instead of a LWYMMD chart run.

Does Drake even write his own raps? I know he didn’t initially. Why lie? Like thegreatdivine said, Drake started out writing for many major artists. I dont know what made you think he hasn’t written any of his music Im not lying it’s what I’ve read. Whether it’s true or not I don’t know. Google does Drake write how own raps and you’ll get a bunch of articles. It could have been just a rumor but it was news a few years ago.

The song has already been out more than two weeks so we're not talking about an eighth day effect. Look What You Made Me Do do was dropped unexpectedly, which might be probably what's happening to Yummy.

Those two days that Yummy dropped were because of extra radio deal. It will go back to receiving regular updates tomorrow.

So, of all those articles you say Google came up with, which of them told you he didn't write his own music initially?

Yummy went up 8-5 in Australia and 2-1 in New Zealand this week if that's any indication as to how it's gonna perform in the States... it's not

why are people so insistent on comparing a band from the 60’s where basically the only thing factoring into the charts were physical sales and a rapper from the 2010’s with streaming and airplay and digital sales all factored in
and why is in a thread for a week where neither of them did anything

This is sorta related but unrelated, but how effective is shazam to the charts? I see it as one of the categories on kworb and i’m just wondering tbh

The chart is actually just which songs are being searched the most on the app, which is an interesting indicator of what people are hearing and then looking up to see what it is/get more information.

I know that seemed so weird to me because it isn’t actually a proper streaming app but thank you

LMAO. Always the same damn done-to-death conversation.

I think The Beatles is pretty fresh comparison to Drake. He has been compared to everyone (obviously winning according to people) but rarely to The Beatles. Usually it's Rihanna, Adele or Taylor.

I see it as one of the categories on kworb and i’m just wondering tbh Shazam is sort of like radio callouts but a much wider scale, its used with labels/radio programmers to see what upcoming songs the public is actively taking a liking to. If people are Shazam'ing a song, its because they like it and actively want to listen to it.

I think what sparked these comparisons was the "I got more slaps than the Beatles" line he dropped on Meek Mill's "Going Bad." Also, before then, he had broken a couple of chart records set by the Beatles.

Is it possible that he wears the exact same red suit he wore in the Heartless video for the Blinding Lights video? They might have been shot around the same time.

When did we start hating Eminem? Pulse is so random sometimes. We're here for all these boring lowbeat rappers who keep putting out the same song again and again and whose music careers are all fronts for their drug businesses anyway, but one of - if not the - greatest rappers of all time is now too old, too lame and way too edgy? I'd take Eminem over deadbeat-dad Future any day of the week. This comment radiates MAD Boomer energy

He is wearing the same red suit, but I dont think its bc it was shot around the same time. Thats just the outfit for the character he’s playing for this album
