This isn't meant as a dig toward either of them, but it's wild BeyoncΓ© and Taylor Swift are still a major focal point of the Grammys in 2021. How so? Beyonce I kinda get, no one is really arguing that this material is close to being her best, but Taylor had a huge year. It's also for better or worse Taylor's third AOTY. Odds are this is the last time she gets the award, and the Academy has turned their backs on her before and will do it again (folklore-hype was just too loud for them to ignore).

Billie pulling an Adele circa 2017 deflecting to Megan in her speech.

Well that was unexpected! I knew they wouldn't let Billie go home empty handed. Good song though.

Iβm surprised at Billie winning but congrats to her!
I wonβt lie and say Iβm a little sour that Dua didnβt get any general field wins but Iβm glad she still got Pop Album

I like Billie Eilish a lot but yeah, that was wrong. Especially after sweeping. She handled it well and I donβt see her getting the backlash so many others would because sheβs incredibly likable.

Mmm I love Billie. If Dua and Taylor had gone empty handed I would have been pissed at her winning tho.

Everyone - Dua, Bey, Tay, Megan, Harry and now Billie - has been awarded and I'm very happy with the result. It was a great night, packed with amazing performances.

That's an odd win. There's no clear story in the winners this year, maybe because it's been tougher to experience the narratives of each album/campaign this past year?

Well that was unexpected! I knew they wouldn't let Billie go home empty handed. Good song though. She won for the James Bond song earlier

I'm not saying they shouldn't be, or criticizing their material even. It's just crazy that two people who've been at the forefront of music since 1998 and 2006 respectively are still dominating so many years into their careers. Good for them.

No sweeps, but a overall good show tbh.

I think this year's show was the best I've seen. I thought most of the performances were great, nothing was dragging on like they always do, and I'm glad that the winners were spread out instead of one person winning a majority. Overall, it was a great show and I hope they keep something similar to this for next year's show.

Idrk what βalternativeβ is but I donβt think for one second folklore is that. Folk music, maybe. Folk pop. I'm not the one that classified it.

Overall, great ceremony this year. The performances were overall great, Trevor Noah was a great host, and we had a wide array of winners. I will say though that the awards felt kinda participation trophy-ish (giving an award to almost every big name that was nominated).

Well balanced winners overall. I don't think Billie deserved it at all, but she was in the top 3 most deserving in that category. Happy for Harry and Dua!

On a side note, I continue to dislike them elevating ROTY in the lineup to the last award over AOTY. It makes zero sense to me and I continue to hate that theyβre sticking with it. Bodies of work should be the top prizes imho.

BeyoncΓ© demanded they tell her if she won or not so she could leave. πβ°οΈ
The fact there were no sweeps made for a more interesting show. It was nice seeing a variety of people get a piece of the pie and the performances were mostly top notch. This is the first telecast that hasnβt left me feeling exhausted in ages.

Yeah this was actually a very solid year. I do feel Record of the Year was kind of a cop out, especially with a ton of these landmark winners.

This was really the best outcome though. it was a tough year--let everybody win, lol. But seriously though - had Taylor Swift or Beyonce swept folks would've been hella mad.

Going into this, I expected the worst. Especially with the messy nominations. But they managed to pull of an engaging show and I'm not mad at most of the winners either. I loved the format and I wouldn't mind them continuing this direction in the future.

Well out of all awards shows produced during the pandemic, I'd say this was the best. Very solid year.

I'm glad there was no big sweep. Harry, Megan, Dua, Bad Bunny, Taylor. All these people managed to keep us entertained during lockdown. I personally reasonated a lot with Dua's album during that time, but I know people that had similar experiences with Bad Bunny and Taylor, so I think it's nice that they all walked away with an award.
My girl Billie got two more, with her young age she might give Bey a run for her money someday in terms of Grammy wins... let's review this topic again in a decade or so.
