^like I said in the other thread, the video has less than 500,000 views in 4 hours which has me worried. I'm concerned that it'll get lost in the Don't Start Now shuffle and Dua doesn't really have the power to bring songs back from the dead

I could see Dua Lipa becoming another Robyn/Carly Rae Jepsen...critically adored pop star with a hardcore fanbase that never seems to cross over to the mainstream, leaving most people thinking of them as a one (or two) hit wonder. Not necessarily a bad thing if that happens; Robyn and Carly have had waaaay more longevity than most of their more commercially successful peers.

Dua is way more successful than either of them in Europe, she's not a one hit wonder at all.

Donβt start now will be the 4th and maybe another song like physical or a song from her album will be another hit as well. Sheβs not a one hit wonder nor is claimed to be one compared to the other 2 artists even if they arenβt ones either

^CRJ had Good Time even if I Really Like You doesn't count. (Also the reason why Owl City isn't defined as a 1 hit wonder) Robyn technically had 2 big hits in the 90s. And Dua already has far surpassed that. She'll probably be more of like a Demi or Miley of the 2020s just occasionally popping up and only once dominating the spotlight for a short moment

physical has actually been growing on itunes since it dropped. And a pretty solid debut on youtube at #35 (with only 6 hours of release!)
I think word of mouth might bode well for its prospects.

The US teens are just out of school now.. and boom, the Physical video has 1M views.
It'll be a hit of course, but will it debut like top ten, probably not.

Mahogany seems like the only song that could debut that high from Wayne's new album

^Many of those were from the live video premiere. I posted it here right after that happened.

In 15-20 years it is ENTIRELY possible that Due Lipa is solely remembered for "New Rules". Average music listeners don't care if a song finished at number 83 or whatever on a Billboard Year-End chart. Vanilla Ice had two top 5 hits but most people consider him a one-hit wonder. Also, I'm only talking about in the US. I don't know Dua Lipa's European chart history.

LMAO. What longevity had Rae-Jepsen has in comparison to her βpeersβ, unless youβre comparing her to Kesha or someone of the sort? Also, Lipaβs success bases are in the U.K/Europe and Oceania primarily. If anything... I could eventually seeing her become a new age Kylie Minogue but without the impact.

Is 1.3 million really bad in 8 hours. I think there is some drama here.

LMAO. Before this era, I would agree. Don't Start Now, Future Nostalgia, and Physical are incredible songs though and a gigantic leap forward from her previous material, and if her album lives up to the standard set by them, she will absolutely be critically adored.

Meanwhile, Yummy debuts on callouts at #16 with 8.5. That's one of the lowest callout scores I have ever seen.

Well, from a Hot 100 perspective, whether or not 1.3m views in 8 hours is bad or not really depends on the percentage of its streams coming from the US (which unfortunately may not be that much)

Pretty frustrating that Meghan Trainor is higher on trending despite having far less views in roughly equal hours

looks like the song is starting to pick up though. 300k views in the last hour, and it's entered the top 10 on iTunes. Not sure how often spotify's streams update but the numbers there are abysmal with only 114k streams

Does the most amount of Net Positive mean people actually like the song?
