Bieber had such a great run with Where Are U Now/What Do You Mean/Sorry. His label/A&R clearly doesn't give a f**k about him anymore. I guess we’re losing Bieber this year, I’m fine with that even if some of his songs are good. Hopefully someone more interesting will replace him At least he was a powerhouse for the whole 2010s decade i don’t mind if he’s not as poppin for the 2020s

since when did an artist not doing as well right now as he/she did in their most successful era mean that the label would drop the artist or that the label clearly doesn't care about them? They won't drop him lol...he just doesn't seem to be a top priority for his label/producers anymore. His new music sounds like something you give to washed up B listers.

Blueberry Faygo by Lil Mosey appears to officially be on Spotify this week, curious to see if it ends up making an impact.

They won't drop him lol...he just doesn't seem to be a top priority for his label/producers anymore. His new music sounds like something you give to washed up B listers. The massive effort that went into (trying to) boost Yummy at radio does not indicate a lack of priority status on the label's part. Biebs is easily the best selling artist on Def Jam and Schoolboy Records' rosters. He'll never lose his status at Schoolboy and tbh he could probably throw out a few flop singles before he lost his 'top' status at DJ too, because that label has so few people who can sell anything. Justin's music just sounds like what happens when a singer has gotten big enough that nobody can or will tell them no and the label shrugs it off bc they think the fans will show up and fork over some money anyway. LA Reid made the same mistake with Just Whitney. Didn't bother checking in once to make sure the music itself was where it needed to be, but cost Arista millions in production and promo assuming Whitney's name alone would guarantee success. (Not by any means saying Justin is as great as Whitney, just an example of how labels can easily drop the ball.) Of course, after said label has royally fucked up, then they deprioritize the artist.

Hey Lukas if you don't mind another question (a bit harder this time): Again comparing two songs but they are from the year 2000.
If we get the chart performance only we will be comparing their peaks (last example song B had higher peak, song A had more longevity), but these songs are 20 years old what about the 19 years after their peak. Like you mentioned making a methodology and multiplying the sales with a factor X. X will decrease by 10% each year. But why should the factor X decrease and not increase. What is more important peak or longevity ? (both are important, but is the peak important if one song is irrelevant now and other is still relevant).
I know i am asking this in a Hot 100 thread, don't want to make a thread for a question.
I am asking about the song that is bigger not about the song that was the bigger hit. (the second one is simple you use charts, the first one not so simple). For example 'Till I Collapse(a song that did not chart) is more relevant today than the entire top 5 from the 2000 year end chart. Edit1: Not saying it is bigger than them but it has more longevity.
P.S. i know i used the biggest exception ('Till I Collapse) i could have ever used but i think you will understand my point.
If sales are decreasing and streaming is increasing, you would theoretically multiply each era by sensible numbers to balance things out per year (like, a song in 2018 should get the same amount of points as if it was released in 2019 instead, on average). However, even then, I don't know how you would define a song to be "bigger" to begin with, and it kinda varies based on what you think is significant lol. A song that has next to no sales/streaming numbers, for example, could be more impactful than another song that is certified Platinum.

The longevity on Posts biggest hits is honestly astounding lol. First congratulations made the year end top 10 and only peaking at 9, then we had Rockstar become the biggest rap song ever and Sunflower being in the top 10 for 8 months and boom Circles is clinging on that top 10 lol. This is not true no matter which chart you try to compare it to. It's only #88 on the Hot 100 all-time list; Low is at #28. It was only at #6 on the decade-end list for the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. It was massive, sure, but it definitely wasn't the "biggest rap song of all time." ooof I got that mixed up with biggest of the decade

Hey Lukas a quick question in context to what you said: So you have 2 songs song A and B (both released 2018 just to make it easier)
Song A is 11 X Platinum, song B is 8 x Platinum.
Song B is higher on the year end chart and made the all time chart.
The question is: Which song is bigger ? ?
Edit:
P.S. it is not a trick question just curious :)
Not enough info. Basing a statement like “biggest ever” on one chart without additional context results in inconclusive.

Bieber dominated 2015-2017 Where Are Ü Now, What Do You Mean, Sorry, Love Yourself, Cold Water, Let Me Love You, I'm The One, Despacito What happened? The material just isn't it, I don't expect big numbers for Biebers album and no big album bomb

Started listening to "Yikes" and yep it sounds like every rap song out there. Boring chorus too. Come on Nicki, this is what you come back with?

While I think Run is a good song, I don't think it'll be the song to smash Joji into the mainstream. I fear it'll sadly follow the route of Sanctuary and SLOW DANCING IN THE DARK: good first week streams but I don't think it'll have the longevity it needs.

Y'know, given how annoying they've been the past few days, I just wanna see Yikes fall off hard so I can see all the salty Nicki stans try to claim she's being screwed over.
