Is Uptown Funk under-certified? Yes, though it's certified 11x platinum. It was last certified in 2016, though. I'm sure it's several million higher.

Is Uptown Funk under-certified? Severely. As jenglisbe pointed out, it hasn't been updated since October 2016; it had 7.8 million downloads as of September 2017 and the present-day Spotify streams alone are the equivalent of 10.5 million. I would be very surprised if it's not already eligible for 2x diamond by now. Bruno and Atlantic update his certs regularly, but he was 'only' a feature on UF so the cert audit would have to go through Mark's label (RCA), which is probably why it hasn't been kept up like Bruno's other singles. Hopefully Bruno or someone on his team sees fit to put in an outside request for that one day soon; having the first 2x diamond single would be a mad flex. Skimming through the most-certified singles on RIAA's site, it doesn't appear that anything else would be close (all other diamond singles have been updated in the past 1-2 years).

Yeah my hunch is that they might be waiting to certify it when it hits 20 million. I think last year people were saying it was at ~ 18 million. In March, this account said it's at 19 million: and maintained it's at 19 million this week: though apparently fans tend to overestimate when they go by Nielsen "unit" figures -- hence why "Grenade" "TWIL" and "JTWYA" are under-certified according to this account. so "Uptown Funk" might as well be at 18x Platinum.

If his Spotify streams:other services ratio isn't too far off from Spotify's overall market share in the US, he should be there.

"UF" was #1 across Europe (UK, France, etc) as well as #1 in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and more. It's possible the U.S. makes up less than 50% of its streams. Does anyone know the general average for the % of steams Spotify makes up? I know it varies song to song, but what's the general %?

The global share as of this year is also slightly over 31%. Spotify's largest market is Europe, but they spend the least amount of time on the platform. The US is Spotify's largest individual country and North Americans have the highest daily average usage, clocking over 40% more listening time than Europeans.

Crazy to think he has 6 diamond singles with another 2-3 likely to make it to diamond in a few years time ("24k Magic"/"Finesse"/"The Lazy Song").
I hope we get a solo Bruno album soon.

^Bruno isn't for the black lash (not a typo) if they win. I can't say I blame him.

^Bruno isn't for the black lash (not a typo) if they win. I can't say I blame him. Exactly my thoughts. I was telling someone earlier this has nothing to do with him trying to help anyone else win; Bruno is just looking out for himself and he doesn't want another 24K situation on his hands if he wins the 'wrong' award. He was able to play it off then because he went away for a long while, but there's speculation he's coming through with a solo project soonish (he was spotted with his former writing partner Phil Lawrence recently). Trophies don't pay the bills, an audience that isn't mad at you over a trophy does. I suppose they could have just withheld it from the major categories and focused on r&b, but that probably would have been just as noticeable and wouldn't have been as easy to explain away.
