Yeah i knew this one wouldn't last long. Always been a song of his I really love. Kept it close to Hank Jr. but made it his own. It was in consideration for my #1. While it probably wasn't the best choice as a radio single I've always personally loved this song. That said, I also found this one incredibly hard to rank and was even disappointed in myself for not putting it into my own top 30. That entire album could have been radio singles TBH.

Hey i nailed a perfect ranking this time.
And I will say this was one of the hardest rankdowns to do since AJ puts out top notch stuff. One of the best in my lifetime for sure.

For a covers album it's really good! I've always loved "Revenooer Man", "Right in the Palm of Your Hand", and his cover of "Kiss an Angel Good Mornin'" is great too. My favorite, though, might have to be "She Just Started Liking Cheatin' Songs".

I think "Good Time" grew on me a little since I first heard it for some other rankdowns - it's kind of fun actually, lol.

"The Blues Man" is incredible. I love Alans performance of this song. I've heard other versions but none of them work as well for me as Alan's does. Sad to see this so low but not surprised one bit. I did struggle with where to put it but was disappointed it didn't make it into my Top 10
also seeing "Good Time" get ahead of it is terrible. I don't hate the song but I'm okay if I never hear it again as well so it definitely overstayed. "The Blues Man", "Sissy's Song", "Jim and Jack and Hank", and "A House With No Curtains" all deserved to be higher than this.
Also I'm hoping I'm not alone in my dislike for "Mercury Blues", one of the very few songs from him I do not like. Also surprised that "When Somebody Loves You" is still in, have always been bored to death with that song, where I see songs like "I'll Go On Loving You" and "Like Red On A Rose" interesting and his performance on both breathe life into them, I feel like "When Somebody Loves You" just drags.

There wasn't a list that came in that didn't make me scratch my own head as it does seem each one of us have our own point of view regarding Alan's vast discography.

I know "Good Time" is a fan-favorite and was a big summer hit for Alan in 2008, but his discography is so strong and he has so many stone-cold country ballads, it's never been in the top half of AJ singles.
I like it a good bit but nothing overly amazing. I thought it might leave in the late 20's to early 30's, so a little surprising.

austin shielded me from being first to lose my #1 and he also was the other highest rank for "Good Time"! You're the best. "Good Time" is a jam. Such an irresistible and fun melody.

"Good Time" has always been a song from Alan that I've enjoyed. Very catchy and fun, I love the swinging-country melody.

I love everything about The Blues Man and Alan’s version of this song is my favourite by far (and there is also George Jones/Dolly Parton version out there). I know I said this before and I’m going to say it again - his gentle voice is just perfect for this slow, beautiful ballads that needs to be sing with tenderness, softness and warmth. I could listen him singing this kind of songs forever and never get tired of it. I also like the lyrics a lot - the fact that this blues man has a happy ending makes me like this song even more. And while I usually prefer one more verse over extremly long outros in this song the 3 minutes instrumental music at the end works perfectly - it creates a dreamy and soothing atmosphere and it’s just the perfect ending of an already perfect song.

Hope y'all had a good time of a weekend! I'm about to jump into the next five songs which will get us to the top 40 and amongst those leaving will be the most polarizing song. Only 12 points separate the five songs and unfortunately a third top ranking song will exit for one participant.
Let's dive in shall we!

Stats for #45:
The next song to exit is only the third to leave which did not receive any bottom 5 rankings. While this briefly made an early appearance in the top 10, it quickly dipped outside the top 30 and was never able to recover. With the majority of the rankings coming inside the top 50, this clocks in as the sixth least polarizing song.

Given how seemingly random these songs have been leaving, I wouldn't be surprised (but massively broken-hearted) if my #1 was leaving tonight.
