Welp, they're out and they're not good. Positive: 55.9% (lowest current) Favorite: 22.1% (middle of the pack) Negative: 24.1% (middle of the pack, but high for its age) (Net: 31.8%) Burn: 12.3% (high for its age, but everything seems to be high this week) Familiarity: 81.2% Debuts at #27/35 overall. Thanks to "Intentions," it's not the last current! pulsemusic.proboards.com/post/7549636/thread

Nah, not bothered with call out scores as radio is dropping this anyway.

Nah, not bothered with call out scores as radio is dropping this anyway. It's probably why they're dropping it, though. Radio has access to scores both before we do and before songs hit the familiarity score needed.

I'm not too bothered if this doesn't go much further (even though it would be #1 for weeks if I had my way), I just hope it has decent longevity

I knew call-outs wouldn't be good. I think even if goodwill for Gaga is really high, radio listeners aren't as progressive so they're probably stuck in the Gaga=Artpop/Joanne/too weird mindset.

Also, Rain on Me is not exactly the tailored radio sound of du jour, but it is DEFINING it

I knew it was going to stall the minute KIIS FM took like 3 weeks to even add it. But I'm happy it scored top 10 anyway. Its a win to me.

What's new... Yet Harry Styles & Dua Lipa are dominating Pop radio? 💀 Their issue clearly seems to be with Gaga as opposed to Pop artists in general. Either Pop radio has unfortunately grown out of interest for her and her music, or they’re currently biased toward a specific style of Pop music; I think it’s the former.

The song is very niche, and that’s polarizing to a lot of radio listeners.

I don't think it's VERY niche, it has still great streaming numbers (over 500k on Spotify) and decent sales.
It's also top 3 on CHR in Canada so the potential definitely is there.
It is kind of European song, but some of the biggest CHR artists (Harry, Lewis, Dua) are from the UK so shouldn't be a problem.

Yeah, I wouldn’t say it’s particularly niche, especially compared to a lot of recent hits on pop radio. But it doesn’t blend into the background as well as some recent hits as well. It’s hard to ignore this song when it comes on, for example.

It’s hard to ignore this song when it comes on, for example. It is very niche in the fact that it’s a song by Lady Gaga. Aside from “Shallow,” she pigeon holed herself over the years to only appeal to a specific demographic, which is the LGBTQ community. Anything by her on the radio is automatically going to get flagged by casual listeners for the simple fact that it’s Gaga. Her days of mass appeal during TF/TFM are long behind her.

So I stand by what I said.

So I stand by what I said. But it doesn’t make sense. I know what you mean, I just disagree. As it stands, ROM became her first top ten on pop radio in seven years. Yet, we’re talking as if it’s underperforming. It was a hot 100 number one. From what I’ve seen, it has been one of the strongest, if not the strongest pop song on streaming this year. It has hundreds of millions of views on YouTube. It’s Top 5 in Canada and the UK. It’s held steady (relatively) on the Hot 100. Not to discount the power of the gays in the US but if they were that powerful, I’d expect to see more drag race queens and Madonna songs on the Hot 100. Plus, the album is among the biggest selling of the year. Bundles account for some of that sure, but the album is still floating somewhere near the top 10. Do bundles typically last into the second month of release?

Also, she had over 53M monthly listeners on Spotify a couple of weeks back (now 51.8M). Drake has 57M, Juice WRLD 39M, Lewis Capaldi 32M just to mention a few.

Do bundles typically last into the second month of release? The inclusion of Ariana Grande helped turn the song into “an event single”, and very likely the reason why it even hit the Top 10 on pop. Now all the hype has settled, so it reverts back to being a Lady Gaga single. Let’s not forget about how “Stupid Love” performed.

I think labeling Gaga as a gay-only artist is outdated.

If we’re hell-bent in using Ariana as an excuse as of why this went Top 10 then tell me why Ariana and Justin (who is in a much better position with Pop than Gaga) couldn’t go Top 10? Anyone? Yeah...none so stop it with that excuse.

Yet no other gay icon is near that level. Try again. No other gay icon dropped a new album with heavy merchandising this year. I’m not sure what you are arguing with me about? That Gaga’s fanbase isn’t majority LGBTQ? Because you are definitely wrong about that.

The fact that US CHR is still stuck in trap-pop after all these years is laughable.

Does the majority of LGBTQ+ people like her? Sure, she's been an ally for us since day 1.
Does she have lots of fans outside the LGBTQ+ community? Definitely. She has one of the biggest streaming hit of all time (Shallow), a hit movie (ASIB), 11 Grammys, 6 #1 albums, 4 #1's on Hot 100 and her tours are pretty much sold out.
It's not that hard.
