Regarding the "she's not a streaming artist" comment earlier, she is as much a streaming artist as any current pop star. She's currently the second most popular female artist on Spotify. Sure, she's not a rapper but it's bullshit to say that she doesn't have an audience on streaming platforms.

Regarding the "she's not a streaming artist" comment earlier, she is as much a streaming artist as any current pop star. She's currently the second most popular female artist on Spotify. Sure, she's not a rapper but it's bulls**t to say that she doesn't have an audience on streaming platforms. eh, do you believe what you just said yourself? lmao. women in pop who are of the streaming era are Ariana, Dua, Billie, Lizzo, some would throw Taylor into the mix, perhaps Scamila and Halsey too. Having an audience on streaming =/= being a streaming artist. if 40 million users checked you out in a month but all listened to 2 songs and left, that doesn't make you a streaming powerhouse even if you're top whatever on Spotify artist list. Chromatica album tracks have amassed an average of around 17m streams globally on Spotify. Not bad at all, but you'd be kidding yourself if you say "she is as much a streaming artist as any current pop star." She isn't. And that is okay. People are from different eras and have different fanbases. Dua Lipa doesn't sell as many pure albums as Gaga, at least in the US. However she's about to become the first woman to have 4 songs with 1B+ streams on Spotify, all as a lead, 3 of them completely solo. Call me back when "Stupid Love" hits a billion streams on Spotify. "Rain on Me" is exceeding everyone's expectations on streaming. It's a good thing. You claiming she's a streaming powerhouse won't help the next time this whole "why is radio dropping the song prematurely" discussion is rekindled.

She definitely has a bigger audience on Spotify than Camilla and Halsey lol but whatever. Go check the average album streams for latter, for example.

And that's simply due to the massive playlist reach of Rain On Me. You can't use monthly listeners as a gauge especially when it's directly correlated with the playlist reach of the artist's current single...if that artist even has one out.

Average album track streams on Spotify for those 3 (not including the biggest hit: My Oh My, ROM, and Without Me):
Romance: released December 6 (2019), 12 tracks - 61.16M (excluding Senorita here as it was first released on Shawn's album) Chromatica: released May 28, 14 tracks - 34.29M Manic: released January 17, 15 tracks - 54.42M
I think she's doing pretty well in comparison.

Left for a day and you guys have already written 3 and a half dissertations.
Song is a certified #1 smash and loved by a lot of people. Here In Portugal, it has been truly inescapable. It's getting spammed on radio and literally everyone knows it. The same would be happening in the US if CHR didn't have fame for being misogynist and ageist...

So, #10 will be its peak. Well, there are another factors to keep it afloat for charts.

This is one of my favorite Lady Gaga singles to date, I wish it could have reached the Top 5.

Whoever says this is not a smash hit is in denial. Who cares about a top 10 placing on a radio chart when it topped the most important single charts?

Whoever says this is not a smash hit is in denial. Or has a different definition of "smash hit." This has done well, and I would consider it a hit, but when I think of "smash hit," I think of "Don't Start Now," "Blinding Lights," "Say So," "Savage," "ROCKSTAR," "Someone You Loved," etc. Like actual massive songs that capture big moments of pop culture. Gaga has plenty herself: "Poker Face," "Bad Romance," and "Shallow" just to name a few. I just don't see that in this.

No offense but you’re like a leech that won’t ever stop sucking blood. You’ve consistently popped up in this thread to remind us all how this is “flopping for its playlisting reach”, “how it was like talking to a brick wall” or how it isn’t a “hit”. We all are aware. We are just expressing our disappointment with its performance at radio when there has been songs with worse callouts that has had sailed through the Top 10 with ease but I’m not gonna start this conversation right now. All I will say is that I think you should chill and do something more productive with your time because from your posts, it comes off like you have history of targeting Gaga and her threads...

All I will say is that I think you should chill and do something more productive with your time because from your posts, it comes off like you have history of targeting Gaga and her threads... Nah I just don't like excuses and her fans making it seems as if she's some victim. Who though? From the getgo, myself and others, self-professed fans - full disclosure, expressed both hope and doubt in this song's performance. Doubt because we didn't think it would do that great on the chart, even with Ariana added on, but hopeful that maybe it might. It didn't exactly fit in with today's sound. Ariana, while she's still capable of Hot 100 #1s and CHR Top 10s, isn't a sure bet the way she might have been 2 years ago. Plus we know Gaga isn't exactly someone radio or general audiences are clamouring to latch onto en masse. Personally, I was doubtful the song would outperform Stupid Love in its first week but when predictions placed it at #1, I was still skeptical it could pull it off. Even more so, I was skeptical it would perform well on Pop radio. Gaga famously hasn't had a Top 10 since 2013. When Stupid Love hit a brick wall at #11, I figured Rain On Me *might* make Top 20. I'd say I was cautiously hopeful and I think most fans here are realistic when it comes to how her singles will perform. In nearly every metric, Rain On Me has outperformed my expectations. I'll let others speak for themselves. So in that regard, I'd say I'm more than satisfied with its performance. Would I like it to higher? Obviously. Am I disappointed that it has seemingly hit a brick wall? Obviously. Would I like it to have more longevity than Stupid Love? Of course. But I'm satisfied with the performance. And from what I've seen, most others are too. Yet, just like what happened in the Stupid Love thread, when fans are satisfied with a performance, people have to drop in and tear it down. We're realistic. We know Gaga isn't a pop radio staple. We know that as a woman, in her 30s, who's been doing music for over a decade, and pop music no less, she's fighting an uphill battle on streaming. We know she's not going to hit #1. Except, on the Hot 100, she did. On pop radio, she hit #10 with a song from one of the best-selling/top-performing albums of the year so far. That's a win. What isn't a win? You coming in trying to pass it off like a flop or an underperformer or that fans are making excuses. Context matters. If you can't see that, that's your lack of understanding and ability to see beyond your own limited scope of whatever you think you know. Either way, we know your stance and disagree. So we can all move on.

i’m not sure why people are trying to discredit this songs success? it’s top 10 on itunes almost 2 months after its release despite next to 0 promo and radio’s refusal to get on board. with gaga being a woman in her mid 30’s, i don’t think anyone was expecting a pop radio smash, but it’s still doing very well on streaming and sales platforms as well as ok on all 3 formats all things considered.
