there might be an increase in payola hits on radio since there's less actual listeners to complain about it ah yes - here's how "run away with me" can still be a hit

You know, since radio has finally jumped onboard the Panic! train, they could very well push one of their older songs like "LA Devotee". I was just listening to it recently and its synth-rock vibes definitely wouldn't feel out-of-place amid a "Blinding Lights" and "Don't Start Now" musical landscape.
Basically, I'm just giving a shoutout to one of my favorite songs at the moment. What has this thread turned into? π
On the topic of reviving older hits, what are the odds of Ke$ha's "Cannibal" charting in the US? It's already at #52 on the Canadian Charts, and it would be so exciting to make a proper hit out of an album track from ten years ago.

"Crazy=Genius" is an excellent song, but I feel the world is not ready for a rock reinterpretation of swing just yet. Maybe later into the decade, hopefully. π€πΌ I wouldn't be surprised if the "you can set yourself on fire/but you're never gonna burn" chanting becomes part of a Tik Tok meme someday, though. π

Billboard Hot 100: 03/28/20 Prognostications (Chart Crave): This week seems to be the last week for Roddy Ricch's "The Box" at No.1, despite its massive streams, the dent in its on-demand streaming, its slip on YouTube, and the stagnant sales & radio, all question its ability at elbowing-off "Blinding Lights" by The Weeknd once his album bomb arrives the chart date April 4th. -- I do think "Don't Start Now" by Dua Lipa can hold steady at No. 2 with its astronomically large airplay, (which seems to be wavering now unfortunately), and decent YouTube - where-else seeming to be slipping slightly in sales, on-demand streams. -- That won't stop "Blinding Lights" by The Weeknd to reach a new peak at No. 3, driven by its high digital sales, rising on-demand streams, and airplay - DESPITE YouTube not being in his playing field at all. -- Surely, that's enough to push back "Life Is Good" by Future featuring Drake down to No. 4, which despite holds onto some 'okay' radio momentum, it continues to remain stagnant in sales, while slipping in on-demand streaming and YouTube, which has been keeping it up this high for the past week. -- Now it's not slipping as hard as "Circles" by Post Malone steady at No. 5, which has seen slips all across the board, with its radio dominance starting to show major cracks. -- Rebounding to No. 6 is "ROXANNE" by Arizona Zervas, which has already spent the tracking week utterly bleeding in airplay, on-demand streaming, already terrible sales, and not to mention its YouTube which is crashing as we speak. -- Now I expect "Myron" by Lil Uzi Vert to open at No. 7, thanks to its dominance in on-demand streams and a bit of a strength there on YouTube as well, but it lacks the sales needed to go any higher. -- I wouldn't have expected this a few weeks ago, but I now predict "Intentions" by Justin Bieber featuring Quavo up to No. 8, not only does it have a pretty good radio momentum in its hands, but the sales are there too - not so sure about YouTube or its on-demand streaming which will likely be its liability in the coming weeks. -- As I go down my list, the entire Top 10 seems to be shifting as Harry Styles' "Adore You" breaks the barrier to No. 9, seeing increases across streaming, sales, and an even bigger increase in airplay. -- And to close my Top 10 Prediction with "Hot Girl Bummer" by Blackbear up at No. 10, despite its monstrous radio gains, it suffers extremely low YouTube and on-demand streaming it needs to be the next contender for the Top 5 - especially as sales seems to have reached its peak.

HDD article about radio being more open to streaming hits. hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=320514&title=RADIO-EMBRACES-NEW-POP-BREAKTHROUGHSWednesday, March 18, 2020 RADIO EMBRACES NEW POP BREAKTHROUGHS In an encouraging sign to the biz, top radio programmers are immediately reacting to streaming hits. Belief in songs resonating at Spotify, TikTok and Netflix from PDs is demonstrated by the new crop of pinging actsβBENEE, Surfaces, Powfu and Asheβgaining adds at Pop and Alternative formats. Among the programmers spearheading the embrace are Entercom's Michael Martin, SiriusXM/Pandora's Alex Tear, Entercom SVP/Alt Captain Mike Kaplan and iHeart's John Ivey. Just a year ago, bona fide streaming hits like Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road" and Lil Tecca's "Ransom" struggled to gain traction at radio. Recently, we've seen hits from Doja Cat, BROCKHAMPTON and Public penetrate Top 40 following success at other platforms. With top programmers believing in the tell-tale signs from streaming and other new platforms, the radio landscape is shifting in the right direction and recognizing fans' immediate appetite for new hits.

Nah, looking at the Spotify charts of those countries, I'm pretty sure the Imanbek remix is why it is also successful in the UK and Australia.

I wouldn't say Old Town Road "struggled" at radio lol. It started blasting up radio prior to it's remix. When all was said and done, it reached #1 at Rhythmic and Urban, #3 on Pop, and also charted on Hot AC, Urban AC, Country, and Dance radio.
