Very random to release this just as Hallucinate was starting to get traction, I don't really understand. I'm sure I'll be sticking to the original but nevertheless excited to hear this one. Maybe βHallucinateβ was just supposed to satiate international audiences while the US finishes up with BMH like βPhysicalβ did for DSN.

As excited as I am about this collaboration, I am scared about the possibility of this somehow destroying Dua's momentum and career. She is in a make or break stage right now and she needs everything to go well for her. This as a remix released just like a Dance mix would be fine but doing this as the single version is incredibly risky. I would worry less if it was just Missy, but with Madonna, it could either be really good or it could be a disaster. I am a lifelong Madonna stan, but sometimes her collaborations can be a little messy.

Unless this is somehow miraculously π₯π₯π₯ I don't see it doing anything. You can call me a hater or whatever, but not only are both Madonna and Missy past commercial relevance, I would argue they're poison for any chart success. I mean, why would Dua's team choose those two of all fucking people? Yes, they're legends, no one can deny that, but tacking them on a single is basically dooming it. Tbh I'm kinda pissed cause "Levitating" is my favorite Dua song and one of my favorite pop songs of 2020, it's the exact kind of music I LOVE, but now they're destroying it (I could see this remix bombing and killing the original's chances by extension).

Why would any young artist want to work with Mariah? Chart success? Nope, cause she's a legend. It's the same story here though it's very difficult to understand i guess. Madonna and Missy are her idols and she simply wanted to collaborated with them. She knows she won't get a hit, this is more about prestige than chart success.

I actually agree - Madonna and Missy are more an obstacle for chart success than helping it. However, Dua will of course provide visibility and more streamers for Madonna so it benefits her more. Would be huge if this could go top 40 in the US but even charting would be a victory for Madonna and Missy. And I'm a HUGE Madonna stan, bopping to Champagne Rose as we speak

^Blech, never did care much for that one. With "Starlight" in the lyrics, will M sing some of "Lucky Star"? Missy will have her rap part, so hoping the track is more of a duet than a small feature. Like "Me Against the Music," but better.

Announcing this on the anniversary of the release of Madonna's debut album and releasing the song two days before her birthday is such a sweet gesture and tribute for Madge.

I'll definitely give the remix a chance, but I love the original so much that I can't see myself playing a different version of it more.

Imagine Dua sampling a Madonna song instead of featuring new vocals

j.franks- better would be Dua Lipa With Madonna and Missy Elliott (or Featuring Missy Elliott, as is the more proper credit for a rap). And giggle at the No. 1 on that chart. :)

What type of remix is this though? If itβs a hard dance mix, it might not work for radio. If itβs a dancy pop remix, maybe. I donβt think Madonna or Missyβs roles need to be particularly big but I think their presence will generate interest and that might be all thatβs needed to get the song a single-week in the top ten, which will benefit all of them, whether it leads to more for Madonna and Missy (Iβm thinking unlikely) but I donβt see it as a bad move for Dua necessarily. Though I canβt picture something like this having a long shelf life so they might work the original after the initial bump maybe - or maybe long term isnβt a goal for the song.
Itβll be interesting to watch anyway.

And giggle at the No. 1 on that chart. :) Wow rude to reduce the rapper to a feature. Besides, the new* way of presenting collabs would have it as: Dua Lipa, Madonna & Missy Elliott - Levitating (Remix) With Blessed Madonna having a mention in the announcement, she very well could be included in the credit: Dua Lipa, Madonna, Missy Elliott & Blessed Madonna - Levitating (Remix)

Noooo, no rudeness meant. Would have no problem with equal credit for Missy E. if her part is more than a quick guest rap. A lot of rap features are brief, which makes the "featuring" credit acceptable. In any event, haven't plenty joked about featuring credits for lines like "Uhhh" and stuff like that? Probably exaggerations, but just pointing it out. :)
Credit could also include the ever-popular and current "X" multiple times.

Imagine Dua sampling a Madonna song instead of featuring new vocals It's been said that Madonna recorded the vocals of the track, so there's not going to be a sample (or a mash-up) of one of her songs in this. However, I'm intrigued if The Blessed Madonna remixed the song (like it's implied) or she made a new version of "Levitating" with Madonna and Missy Elliot and it's going to be like "Ain't It Funny" and "I'm Real", where both of them were basically new ones instead of remixes of the respective tracks.

If my name is Dual Lips I would be extremely excited to work with legends like Madonna and Missy they are the ones doing her a favor here. Who TF is she but young in age.

I have very little interest in this remix, but if it means the song will be the next single and be blasted by radio once every 45 minutes like "Don't Start Now" and "Break My Heart," bring it on! This is such an amazing song. The only two songs from the album I like more are "Don't Stop Now" and "Cool."

A mess of a discussion. Missy Elliott and Madonna are legends and their cosigns mean a lot more to the public perception of Dua's artistry than her getting a #1 song on Pop radio. Make it make sense! And thanks for bringing up the real smash hit the world been waiting.

The Madonna and Missy disrespect in this thread is way too much. they might be past commercial success but Dua still gets to collab with two legends and it's what she wanted. As for charts the remix could have an impact on sales if it's good but I see the original carrying streaming and radio.

I'm hoping Missy gives a Do It tier feature and not a Borderline tier feature Cause it really can go both ways.
Would be nice if the remix made me like Levitating more cause I still don't care much for it
