Yeah Rockstar went #1 and was a big hit, but it was never close to The Box in terms of relevancy. The Box was actually an inescapable smash, whenever I hear it I instantly get flashbacks to late 2019 and early 2020 right up until the pandemic because that's when The Box was everywhere. You can play it and everybody knows all the words. Levitating never hit #1 but it's also bigger than Rockstar, not just in stats but also just culturally. There's a reason why the song and Dua was trending on Twitter the same day DaBaby made those statements at Rolling Loud, despite the fact he's collaborated with a billion other people, because Levitating is just that big of a hit. Every time I hear the word 'Rockstar' I think of Post Malone first anyway. But just for the sake of statistical comparison... The Box: 11 weeks #1, 25 weeks top 10, 38 weeks total; #3 YE 2020 Rockstar (DB): 7 weeks #1, 26 weeks top 10, 40 weeks total #5 YE 2020, #80 YE 2021 building chart (but is below projected #100 threshold) Levitating*: 30 weeks top 10, 43 weeks total; #1 YE 2021 building chart *still charting **fun coincidence: Don't Start Now is the song sandwiched between The Box and DB at #4 on the 2020 YE

Pulling for this to get another 4 weeks in the top 10 so it can have 3rd most weeks all to itself. I don’t see it being a challenge, but you never know. Circles will be hard to beat with 39 weeks.

Mediabase sent it recurrent again since it fell below it's original #4 Peak. We love spontaneous arbitrary rules 💀 I love the irony of Dua fans bashing new rules

Well I mean... 'Levitating' inexplicably went back into recurrency once it dropped to #4, and Mediabase was like 'oh btw because it fell back to the position it re-entered at, it got purged lol'. Like... you couldn't have been forthcoming with this information sooner?!
Never mind that it only re-entered at #4 because they sat on their damn hands for weeks to even re-instate it even after it was CLEARLY rebounding.
Once it was put back it should have been subject to the same recurrent rules as everything else. Out of the top 10 = out of the chart, since it had already reached the threshold for recurrency status.

There are some interesting stats about the switch of both versions. Even, it implies a new wind since audiences were starting to get tired of the DaBaby version at some point in the article. From Billboard:

Levitating's 3rd, 4th, 5th, whatever wind is coming!?
It'll be one of the biggest Radio and Hot 100 hits of all-time.

Especially about the return to recurrency.

I never actively listened to the DaBaby remix (unless it was on the radio) but the song has started to burn on me because of it. I got sick of his intro fast. However, I added the solo version back to my playlist after all this happened and it has got another wind for me too, not just on the Hot 100!

I just play the KUU remix. Not sure why that homophobe is credited since his vocals aren't on that version.

I wonder if this is all enough to have Da Toddlers credit removed on Billboard next week.

One of the stations that’s still playing the DaBaby remix of Levitating is KCRZ “Hitz 104.9” in Visalia, CA. Not only that, they also play Camila Cabello’s “My Oh My” which also features DaBaby and those two songs actually played within minutes of each other when I listened to that station Wednesday afternoon.

I wonder if this is all enough to have Da Toddlers credit removed on Billboard next week. Billboard reported that the solo version is the one receiving more airplay overall so maybe they'll remove his credit on radio/airplay charts, but what's going to happen on the Hot 100 and streaming songs?

Solo version is outselling remix too, but I'm not sure it's enough to offset the remix's streaming lead. I guess CryBaby is gonna lose credit on Radio Songs and the Sales chart but he'll keep the Hot 100 credit for now.

Spotify should get the memo and replace the remix with the original in its TTH playlist! It’d be great to see him disappear from the credits in the Hot 100

Globally the remix version is way above the original on Spotify and in the US I can't even see the solo in the top 200. If the credit will be removed on the Hot 100 I guess it'll depend on Radio (and sales).
