LMAO I have no idea what I was doing with "Girl Ridin' Shotgun" 😂 I 100% expected this to fall into last place on my list when it started, but somehow this ended up turning into an earworm by the end Still probably should have been bottom 5 on my list though. Catchy as it is, the lyrics are HELLA basic 😂 "Redneck Tendencies" is pretty bad, and again the basic lyrics definitely factor against against it big time. And yeah, Hardy's voice is quite bad. If this was just a Joe Diffie or Trace Adkins song, it might have been better. But also, Joe Diffie's part in this song is literally negligible.

"Pride and Joy" has long been a favorite song of mine. My Mom used to play the original by Stevie Ray Vaughan all the time and then she played the Bonnie Raitt tribute performance as well. I initially wasn't a fan of Joe's version but the more I listened to it the more it grew on me. Sad it is out so early :(

“Girl Ridin’ Shotgun” was the only correct choice for last place as there just isn’t anything salvageable about it. The same can be said for “Redneck Tendencies” as Hardy’s voice is like nails on a chalkboard. I fully expected to see both of these out in the bottom 5.
I also expected both “Pride and Joy” and “Behind Closed Doors” would likely be out in the bottom 5 especially considering that both of them are covers of classic songs. Stevie Ray Vaughan is a legend here in Austin and nothing can really top the original. And the same can be said for Charlie Rich because there’s just something he brought to the song that few other artists can.
If I were to take a guess at the final song to in the bottom 5 I’d say that “All In the Same Boat” is likely on the chopping block. I also think the Tammy Wynette duet “Glass Houses” will be out somewhere in the bottom 10. And as far as singles go I can see songs like “Startin’ Over Blues”, “I’m In Love With a Capital “U””, and “The Promised Land” all exiting soon.

"I almost didn't make it, Boys, I risk life and limb. It was plain to see that my wife Was in that honey-do mood again.
Well buddy, that ain't nothing. I barely made it out the door. She was prayin' and a-cussin', Like she was 'bout to wage a holy war.
Mine got so mad, she was bitin' her lip. She turned her head and I gave her the slip.
Now we're all in the same boat, Pass me a beer and a fishing pole. Let's find a spot and drop that anchor down. We're really livin' the high life, Plenty of bait and blue skies. We left all our worries back in town. I think "All In The Same Boat" is a fun song and I enjoyed it enough that I don't think it belonged in the bottom 5 but I get the dislike for it as well.

I’m not really surprised to see back-to-back songs from Twice Upon a Time exit as the album itself never lived up to what Joe had released for the better part of the 90s. Along with that these two particular songs get lost in the shuffle amongst the other hits and songs in the rankdown.

Only song I'm sad to see go so far is "All In The Same Boat" cuz that is a total jam!
The others can go. Although I would have liked to see "Somethin' Like This" a bit higher cuz that is a good song too.

It was fun getting to revisit Joe's version of "White Lightning" because I very much remember that song from the movie The Beverly Hillbillies. While this song has been covered a countless number of times, my favorite version will always be that from George Jones.
Of all of Joe's singles from the early/mid 90's I fully expected that "Startin' Over Blues" would be one of them to go out in the bottom 10. This wasn't even a top 40 hit for Joe and luckily it didn't hurt any momentum he had closing out his sophomore album.

Pleasantly surprised to see a bluegrass tune escape the bottom 10 (even if just barely)! “Somehow Tonight” is a fun little number but it’s nothing that I can say I’d revisit from Joe’s discography. “Poor Me” is another one of Joe’s hits to miss the top 40 so therefore it doesn’t surprise me much to see it exiting just outside of the bottom 10 either. This is another song that I hadn’t listened to in a long, long time and I remembered how easily it got stuck in my head. That said, it probably wasn’t the best choice of song to include and release from a Greatest Hits album as it sounds more like a solid album track. I should’ve known that something like “C-O-U-N-T-R-Y” would be right up LBTrocks’ alley! I enjoy this one well enough but it’s also just not something I would seek out to listen to from Joe. I had all but forgotten that Joe was the first artist to cut “Goodnight Sweetheart” as David Kersh had a top 10 hit with it in 1996. I do admit I’m partial to David’s version, but I’m glad this was included nonetheless. And speaking of album tracks, “Zero” has always been one of my go-tos from Twice Upon a Time as I admittedly used to jam out to this back in the day. I still find that I put it on from time to time and so thanks to our host for finding room in the rankdown for it!
