I'm nailing my predictions though, so shall we make "It's Always Something" our next victim? As for what song will miss the top ten I have to agree that "It's Always Somethin'" seems like the most obvious choice, but who knows maybe "Pickup Man" will be just polarizing enough to miss it (although I think that's quite unlikely to happen). I will reveal early that both "It's Always Somethin'" and "Pickup Man" made the Top 10. TBH I am very upset at the song that barely misses the top 10!

How is THAT going to be the song to miss the top 10!!! It's like easily among his top 3 or 4 most iconic, well-known, and most widely-beloved songs. I honestly thought it would win the whole rankdown!

I guess we can be expecting .indulgecountry to be tanking a lot of our favorites though based on how many of the early flops that nobody cares about that he had in his top 10 when this rankdown first started reveals

Umm, what the heck. I had a pretty good handle on everything that had gone out 12-20, but this one's a total shock to me. "Bigger Than The Beatles" is a such a terrific melody, and Joe sells the heck out of it. Even some of his best known hits are likely to be polarizing, so those wouldn't have shocked me in this spot. I thought "Bigger Than The Beatles" had a good shot at the top 5. I went back and forth and almost put that at #1, but even though I didn't, it's usually the song I revisit when I want to listen to Joe.

I'll give everyone some time to mourn "Bigger Than The Beatles" missing out on the Top 10, but with that song out we now know our Top 10:
"Home" "New Way (To Light Up An Old Flame)" "Ships That Don't Come In" "Prop Me Up Beside the Jukebox (If I Die)" "John Deere Green" "Third Rock From The Sun" "Pickup Man" "Texas Size Heartache" "A Night To Remember" "It's Always Somethin'"
Which 5 songs does everyone expect to miss the Top 5? Do you think there will be any big shockers like with "Bigger Than The Beatles" missing the top 10?

"Beatles" is overrated. #sorrynotsorry I guess we can be expecting .indulgecountry to be tanking a lot of our favorites though based on how many of the early flops that nobody cares about that he had in his top 10 when this rankdown first started reveals Well let's see what I have left... 1 2 3 5 6 8 12 14 15 23 Looks like your slander doesn't check out after all!

I guess I can't really complain because I've only lost two of my top ten songs, but I'm still rather bummed that "Bigger Than the Beatles" couldn't manage to get in as it's one of his all-time and most recognizable hits. Anyways...here is what I have left: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 15.
I'm not feeling overly confident enough to really make any predictions, but if I had to guess which five songs will miss the top five I'd pick these:
"Home" "John Deere Green" "Pickup Man" "Texas Size Heartache" "It's Always Somethin'"
Which would mean the Top 5 might look something like this:
"A Night To Remember" "New Way (To Light Up An Old Flame)" "Prop Me Up Beside the Jukebox (If I Die)" "Ships That Don't Come In" "Third Rock From The Sun"
I'm of course basing this on the thought that songs like "John Deere Green" and "Pickup Man" remain a bit polarizing and therefore might depart just before at #6 or #7, but again it wouldn't surprise me if both of those end up making it in leaving something like "Ships That Don't Come In" out. I'll even give a second Top 5 prediction should that not be the case lol:
"A Night To Remember" "Pickup Man" "Prop Me Up Beside the Jukebox (If I Die)" "John Deere Green" "Third Rock From The Sun"

"A little Miss Dynamite just blew my world away. It was a pitiful sight, me begging her to stay. I never had a hunch, so how was I to know That she packed a punch that knocked my heart out cold? She put a hurtin' on this old cowboy, Broke my heart like a little play toy, Brought me to my knees from ten feet tall. The night she left me in Amarillo I cried crocodile tears in my pillow. "Texas Size Heartache" sounds just as good today as it did back when it first came out in 1998 and I never get tired of hearing it one bit. I figured this would leave shortly so I'm just glad that it was able to make it into the top ten.

"The only the thing I see ahead is Just the heat a rising off the road The rainbows I've been chasing keep on fading before I find my pot of gold But more and more I'm thinking, that the only treasures that I'll ever know Are long ago and far behind and wrapped up in my memories of home
Home was a swimming hole and a fishing pole and the feel of a muddy row between my toes Home was a back porch swing where I would sit and mom would sing amazing grace While she hung out the clothes, Home was an easy chair with my daddy there and the smell of Sunday supper on the stove My footsteps carry me away but in my mind I'm always going home
Now the miles I put behind me ain't as hard as the miles that lay ahead And its much too late to listen to the words of wisdom that my daddy said The straight and narrow path he showed me turned into a thousand winding roads, My footsteps carry me away, but in my mind I'm always going home."#9 ~ "Home"147 Points Average: 12.25 ST DEV: 9.07 gardyfan ~ 2 tim ~ 4 George Strait Junkie ~ 5 LBTrocks ~ 7 kw9461 ~ 8 someguy ~ 10 Cody Wants Out... ~ 11 sabre14 ~ 12 .indulgecountry ~ 12 castleoblivion26 ~ 14 Kanenrá:ke ~ 30 bboat11 ~ 32

Really??? I mean we all know how bboat11 feels about songs with "Home" in the title, but c'mon everyone but you two put this in their Top 15. As for myself I never wavered on putting this outside of my top five and at one point I think it might've been as high as my top three, but either way this is a great song and remains one of my favorite debut singles of all-time. Joe of course made history with this song as he became the first artist to have his debut single reach the top on all three major country formats including Billboard, Radio & Records (now Mediabase), and Gavin Report (no longer in publication).

"Downtown, stoplight, red car rolls by. What else can I do, but wonder if it's you. Scanning the stations, every song they're playin' is like a soundtrack, to the love we had. I should be over you by now, but every time I turn around...
It's always somethin' every day remindin' me. Everywhere I go, there's a memory. Ready and awaitin' to catch me off guard, There's no way to prepare my heart. What I wouldn't give, what I wouldn't do. If only I could just stop missin' you. I'd let go of our love, like it was never nothing. As one of his more recent hits and last top five country single I'm not all that surprised that "It's Always Somethin'" was able to make it into the top 10, but I'd still trade this one for "Bigger Than the Beatles". I think familiarity with this one definitely helped as this is a song that I still hear frequently enough on country radio today.

Don't let my ranking for "Ships" fool you; I actually like that one quite a bit. There were just about 20 others that I liked more. P.S. "It's Always Somethin'" is one of my favorites from 2000; it'll most likely be in my top five or close to it once it's rankdown comes around.

I had a sinking feeling that "Ships That Don't Come In" would have one or two of the bunch that didn't much care for this song, and I was right. I have very fond memories of hearing this back in the day, but like so many of these gems from the '90s I haven't listened to them in a long time. This was definitely one of my favorites that I got to revisit during this rankdown.

"Well, I got my first truck when I was three Drove a hundred thousand miles on my knees Hauled marbles and rocks and thought twice before I hauled a Barbie Doll bed for the girl next door She tried to pay me with a kiss and I began to understand There's something women like about a pickup man
When I turned sixteen, I saved a few hundred bucks My first car was a pickup truck I was cruising the town and the first girl I seen Was Bobbie Jo Gentry, the homecoming queen She flagged me down and climbed up in the cab And said, "I never knew you were a pickup man"
You can set my truck on fire and roll it down a hill And I still wouldn't trade it for a Coupe De Ville I got an eight-foot bed that never has to be made You know, if it weren't for trucks we wouldn't have tailgates I met all my wives in traffic jams There's just something women like about a pickup man"#6 ~ "Pickup Man"114 Points Average: 9.50 ST DEV: 5.94 Cody Wants Out... ~ 1 George Strait Junkie ~ 3 LBTrocks ~ 3 .indulgecountry ~ 5 bboat11 ~ 9 castleoblivion26 ~ 10 tim ~ 10 gardyfan ~ 11 kw9461 ~ 11 sabre14 ~ 11 someguy ~ 17 Kanenrá:ke ~ 23

Called it! I had a hunch that "Pickup Man" just wouldn't quite be able to make it into the top five. This has gone on to become somewhat of a signature song for Joe and is of course an iconic hit from the '90s. I myself was at a point where I had grown rather tired of hearing it, but in the course of doing the rankdown I kind of let that come to pass and ended up finding some fun in it again.
