Definitely liking how this is shaping up- the two strongest songs are in the final two! They definitely hold their own against the Come On Over singles. "No One Needs to Know" is just a bit too bare, and "Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?" is just a bit too dated, but I still really like those songs.

Yay the right song won! Also it's always satisfying to me to see the album RD results mimic the single RD results order, even if it's not in my best interest, lol.

There was no contest that the Top 2 would come out in this way...literally look at those trajectories! "If You're Not in It for Love" was destined for silver from the very beginning of this rankdown. It played tug of war for a few lists with "No One Needs to Know" but once it regained the runner-up status, it held on tight and never let go. "Any Man of Mine" on the other hand...that started out not even in the Top 5, but quickly made it there, then to the Top 3, then to the #1 spot and just never looked back from there. The remaining 17 lists kept AMOM at the winner's circle! Both of these songs are massive and for good reason--they're incredible, and I agree on the consensus that these would've been just as good on Come On Over. Definitely two of my favorites from her entire career! Thanks for following along, y'all! I had quite a lot of fun with this album, and I'm going to have even more fun with the next one! ;)

"AMOM" is definitely a worthy winner! I remember hearing that song non-stop in 1995, and when my parents play Country music at their cabin I still hear it fairly frequently. Both songs have aged like fine wine.

"If You're Not In It For Love" is just such a great song. It's one of the few huge Shania hits that is not campy or cheesy; it is just a damn good song on its own merits. It is probably my enduring favorite from this album. "Any Man Of Mine" always just kinda existed for me; I didn't hate it growing up, but I didn't love it either. I really came to appreciate it just a couple years ago, when I listened to it for the first time in YEARS, and I was immediately struck by how awesomely country the arrangement is!! Like, I could understand it being polarizing and poppy for 1995, but to listen to it almost 25 years later it sounds soooooooooo refreshingly neo-traditional I had never given it enough credit for most of my life, so with my newfound enjoyment of it I felt pretty satisfied making it my #1 :) Thanks for hosting taylor!! Now that the show's over, y'all go submit for George's albums before it's too late

Wow, had no idea "God Bless the Child" was so disliked, lol. I get that it's not for everyone, and normally songs like these aren't my cup of tea, but I think it's really pretty. I'm surprised it's out already too. Despite the album having as many singles as it did, I did still expect this to join the rest of the singles and beat the album tracks. I remember liking the song a bit when the video came out, though Shania singing about under-privileged children while her over-styled hair flies everywhere while she sings always felt off to me. Comparing it to the other singles, it's clearly near the bottom. I was disappointed my #1 (No one needs to know) wasn't #1 but I kind of expected it. I feel like as a Shania single, it's not as highly regarded as some of her biggest hits but as the first country song I ever liked, it holds a special place for me and was the reason I submitted to this countdown. The song is a classic and a half! I'm Outta Here is another classic that I knew at the time but didn't really get to liking it until after No One Needs To Know. Also, that remix, what? In Canada, the original version of the song was paired with the video. Not sure what's going on there. I think I heard the remix once or twice somewhere but where I grew up, it was only ever the album version I heard.

*hides*
I don't dislike (It You're Not In It For Love) I'm Outta Here, but there was something about the wordy chorus that never sat 100% right with me, which is why I'm the lowest rank. "Any Man of Mine" is a classic though and a portent of the coming hurricane that was Come On Over

At least Kanenrá:ke also understands the pure MAGIC of "Home Ain't..." because the song is just totally exceptional lyrically, musically, and vocally. It is easily one of her most beautiful vocals on record to date. You can feel the heartbreak and anguish in her voice and the lyrics are so tragic, as taylor pointed out. It's a shame it was an ill-fated single @ country radio because it has all the makings of a true classic. I'm glad it was able to at least best all of the album cuts and "God Bless the Child," which is what I expected it to do as I never anticipated it getting past the firewall of hits. Yes "Home" is possibly my favorite vocal of her career because you hear every emotion and pain in her performance. I kinda wish she'd perform it during her recent tours because she's now lived it and I'd love to hear her take on it. Even with her new vocals, just the experience may bring out new things to her. Expected end but really hard to argue AMOM deserving it, it was always lower on the album for me though.

Really happy with how everything played out! I wasn't expecting You Win My Love to get top 5, it was insanely catchy when I was 12 but I could see some seeing it as generic and I was worried it would go really early. I was also pleasantly surprised No One Needs to Know made the top 3! 🌪 That long line of #1's. 😍 I would've been shocked if Any Man of Mine didn't win! IMO it's her defining song along with You're Still the One. Thanks for hosting taylor! edit: Why does that tornado emoji look so awful?

taylor what do you think about a Shania Videos Rankdown at the end of this? She has some awesome videos and it would be fun to rank them. And, the results would be wildly different than what we see in the song rankdowns, as some great songs just had live videos, and some OK songs had awesome videos. Just a thought.

If there's enough interest (I'm sure there will be) that'd be fun to do! I do also plan on closing things out at the end with a Shania Twain Album Tracks Rankdown. That will undoubtedly take a minute tho, and be done in 2021.

Rank both, or solo Shania. The duet version sucks.

Being alive when FTMO was at radio (lol), I remember both well but am not biased to either and would still rank them back to back to each other so I'd be fine with just the album solo. (King of run-on sentences) Does anyone remember radio playing Titanic audio snippets during the instrumental parts? edit: I googled From This Moment On Shania Titanic and it found nothing. I promise I didn't make that up. 😂

(King of run-on sentences) Does anyone remember radio playing Titanic audio snippets during the instrumental parts? I can't say I remember this myself but it's quite possible it was something one of your local country radio stations was doing. I know that one of my local stations did some remix thing with George's "Adalida" back when it was on the radio that I doubt any other station was doing. This song was also originally intended for Celine Dion so again I could see some stations incorporating something like that into "From This Moment On" as that was also during the same timeframe that the movie Titanic was out. And along with what you said I remember hearing both versions of "From This Moment On" being played on radio, although it was mostly the duet version as the solo recording was the version sent to Top 40 radio and therefore it was the duet version that I heard most on country stations. Considering that this is an album rankdown it wouldn't seem right excluding the duet recording because that is the original version that was included on the album. That said, I can see an argument being made to want to use the solo version only because that is the one that those who didn't grow up with country radio at this time remember most. I think there's an easy solution to this and that is to take a page out of the playbook in the Billboard Hot 100 rankdown series in which you can rank whichever version of the song you prefer.

I’m a fan of the duet version myself but the real question is how are we doing the next album?! All three versions? Haha they’re all different enough that my ranking would probably change.

Yeah, the only solution that makes sense for "From This Moment On" is ranking it once based on whichever version you prefer.

As mentioned, Bryan White was unable to promote the single at the time of release. Also, Mercury was already pursuing the opportunity for COO in the broad pop market where White was relatively unknown. Many tracks were already remixed for an international album release later that year. It's likely that both country and pop music fans will participate in your RD. Since different mixes of most of the tracks already exist, it would make sense to simply rank whichever version the listener prefers (without having to specify which version was chosen). I’m a fan of the duet version myself but the real question is how are we doing the next album?! All three versions? Haha they’re all different enough that my ranking would probably change. I'd been thinking of that since the very beginning of the series tbh. I figure the blue version is obscure enough that not many people if any at all would use that version. I do personally go for the red version myself (yes, even the red version of the title track ) The red (pop) would likely be used by many of the pop girlies that decide to do this rankdown, and the green (country) version by the country girls, so I think that one's just gonna be ranked based on personal preference. As for Come On Over--I've been honestly wondering ever since asking about FTMO (and listening to the album myself just a few hours ago) about opening up the ranking choice to both versions. I do adhere to the original version myself, but do also prefer the pop versions of some tracks...

I'm partial to the duet version because it's one of the very few collabs Shania has done (more so in recent years compared to her earlier career). I think Bryan's voice works well for the song.

I agree with bboat11: rank "From This Moment On" once, but pick whether its the solo or duet version. That's what makes most sense to me. Ditto on the different versions of the Up! tracks: pick your color of preference and roll with it.
