If we are being honest, most of (i don't know her) hits back in the day were huge at the time but forgotten. Ain't It Funny and All I Have are definitely forgotten. I'm Real is remembered and had a resurgence for the wrong reasons. It's crazy to me how she does not have any long-standing hits and how most of them were products of their time. The newer generation can't even name a song by her. The generation that was younger at the time only knows "On The Floor" and is unaware of her previous material maybe besides "Jenny From The Block." ironically that song was just her hopping on the electropop trend EDIT: well I started a new page, I should contribute. How about Suit & Tie? that was Timberlake's huge return and it was generally loved and played a good bit at first. Now I haven't heard it or heard of it in years Yes, Suit and Tie was popular when it was out but now it's kinda left forgotten in his discography.

Maybe it's just my observation, but much of the 20/20 Experience era--which took up two separate albums--feels pretty well forgotten now. From the two albums, I think I've only heard "Mirrors" recently.

I might be playing devil's advocate here but I think you can put Mood in here, not surprised at all that we haven't heard fron 24KGoldn or Iann Dior since it dropped.
And I feel Break My Soul will be here in the near future if it isn't already.

We've heard from both, but neither has had a big hit since. And "Mood" was the sort of song that appealed to many formats (pop, Urban, Hot AC, Alt, maybe more) so it's not too surprising that it was so huge. But just two years later it's not hard to think, "whoa, was it really THAT big?" It's probably a bit too early to say, but it may end up being one of those songs that was everywhere for some time but doesn't have much longterm staying power.

I would say it was pretty massive at the time, it was at 1 for 8 weeks in the US as well as being a number 1 hit in 17 other countries and a top 10 hit in 18 other countries. If that's not the definition of a big hit, I don't know what is.

There's already questioning about that above.

Different people will have different takes on this due to their tastes, listening habits, what gets played on radio or elsewhere in their area, and other factors. But if I weren't a chart numbers buff then these are some of the songs would make me wonder, "was that really that big a hit?" All Or Nothing (blecch) The Reason Let Me Love You (Mario) Leavin' Down Just a Dream Without You (Guetta/Usher) Am I Wrong Locked Away (would this have been a hit in the first place without Adam?) 7 Years Cold Water All 2000s/10s CHR #1's that at least to me don't feel that big or well remembered in retrospect, if they even did at the time. Oh hell no, The Reason isn't forgotten. I don't listen to it often but if that s**t comes on in a crowded room, everyone starts sing " I'M NOT A PERFECT PERSON!". Mario “Let Me Love You” still gets airplay in my market on Power 106.

Someone said Foolish by Ashanti....in what world is Foolish by Ashanti forgotten...if you are primarily a pop listener vs R&B/Hip Hop listener ofc Foolish is going to seem forgotten to you. Foolish is still remembered today and even the newer generation surprisingly knows Foolish. Not to mention Foolish itself gets sampled a lot. In no way is Foolish forgotten and Foolish did not "evaporate quickly". Foolish still receives massive recurrent airplay to this day.
Foolish has 241M streams on Spotify and 189M on YouTube which is extremely good for an R&B song from the early 2000s. It's only 33M views away from AOT and 100 something million streams away from AOT.
Edit: I'd say Ashanti's most remembered hits are: Foolish, Always On Time, What's Luv
In every list of R&B classics of the 2000s Foolish is always mentioned...now her other hits different story as far as rememberance lol

^To add...just found this out Foolish was certified 2x platinum last year and the certification was due to streaming as Foolish went 2x platinum from streams which further proves my point of it not being forgotten. Always On Time is also 2x platinum eligible Ja just needs to push his label for certification

I hear it on Real 92.3, Power 106 and 102.3 KJLH. I’m 29 years old and I have memories of hearing “Foolish” on the radio a lot during the 2000’s.

^I was the one who said it was forgotten, though admittedly I started listening to a lot more Pop/R&B in 2003, one year after "Foolish" was released. Still, for what was such a huge song, I don't recall hearing it at all, and I was familiar with a number of other hits of the period. I was aware/familiar with "Always on Time" though.

Your fine and I apologize if I came off the wrong way, I was just stating that Foolish is very well remembered even to this day. There's a thread from back in the day on a forum (i forgot which one) of the mot overplayed songs right now (year was 02) and Foolish came up a lot.

I'm definitely not up on streaming numbers, so if it's doing really well, I stand corrected there, lol. For me, it might have been about the timing as well. I do remember hearing a lot of Alicia and Beyonce's songs around the time, and a lot of my exposure to different songs was due to the NOW CDs - I am really dating myself there. I don't think "Foolish" appeared on a NOW CD, which seems baffling.

has anyone mentioned as long as you love me + beauty and a beat ? (both by justin bieber)
i randomly rediscovered those tracks after reading a thread abt nicki minaj's history with making green screen appearances in music videos, and i genuinely can't think of any other genuinely big hits from the 2010s (#6 and #5 respectively, both with a fair deal of longevity) that have been *that* insanely forgotten, though to be fair they both sound dated as all hell
(boyfriend too, though i feel like that one has been slightly less written out of history then the two i mentioned)

Usually when a song is doing so well I keep going back to it once in awhile to see if I’m missing anything. Apparently I didn’t with this?? I’m listening to it now and it sounds vaguely familiar. Wow, I’m out of the loop.. lol

Like a g6 isn't forgotten in the slightest. It's still remembered and played today, it should be forgotten but it's not.

Savage Love by Jason Derulo, a #1 hit from 2020 (only a little over 2 years ago) and nobody remembers it. I don't think I've heard it once since 2020 ended, like the year ended and the song just disappeared. Mood by 24kgoldn is a good answer too, #1 for 8 weeks on the Hot 100 and a massive radio hit across multiple formats yet it has had virtually no staying power.

That one Nico & Vince song. Am I Wrong I definitely didn't forget it. You probably remember Boom Boom Pow and I Gotta Feeling, when the Black Eyed Peas ruled the charts for half of a calendar year. But did you know they had a third #1 hit that same time period? It was Imma Be.

"Lately" by Divine, a #1 hit in 1998. It's not even on Spotify. It also has only 9 million views on YouTube
