idk even know where to start lol, not going to try to comment on everything. "Every Single Summer" by MaRynn or whatever her name is, is annoying af. Glad to see she didn't make it too high. "Downtown Baby" is even worse... really hate that one, it's just a disjointed mess. "Nervous" is honestly one of my favorite Maren songs ever! By that I mean, it's probably in my top 5-10 songs from her I love her. She SLAYED this style. So sad to see her do so poorly here. As for the "Country, Boy" song lol. I think it's a pretty catchy county-rocker and I knew everyone would hate it but I don't really care, lol. I'd take a song like that everyday over trendy snap-clapping bad pop messes plaguing the genre currently.

"Down Home" is fine, and has had a pretty positive reception on Pulse so far. I think it suffers from the same bland production that afflicts way too many of the modern male artists, which is the biggest reason why it was so low on my list. As a song I can see myself enjoying this, and probably putting it in my 40s or so when we do the year-end rd.

Not bboat11 randomly deciding to spell Abby's name in a weird way and it catching on. She literally spells her name the most logical and common way that one possibly could. And yet somehow got Catie Offerman's name right despite the opposite being true, lol. Lmao you say this like Abbie isn't every bit as common and normal as "Abby" This is like the difference between Nicole and Nichole, or Kristen and Kristin. They all make equal sense. Either way, I'm a teacher in the 21st century. It would not feel natural for me to assume that "common" is going to be the default. Some of these kids lately be giving off serious Abbeigh vibes Because it isn't lmao just like Nicole is way more common than Nichole, I'll give you the Kristen/Kristin one tho.

Gurl don't even try to act like any of them are unusual enough to be even slightly abnormal. Unlike Catie, which is a noteworthily rare variation.

Speaking of Catie! "Happyland Trailer Park" showed up to slay, giving her an impressive debut in this series with the first song she ever released!! This song was a top 5 contender for much of the rankdown. Unfortunately it was not able to hang on until the end, with the top 6 competing pretty strongly to all make it into the top 5, and this one was the one that just barely got edged out!
I really found myself drawn to this one this month! Catie used instruments that reminded me of some of the stuff put out by the Neo-traditional ladies of the mid-00s, which helped this one to stand out in a good way! I'm excited to see what comes next from her!

I gave each of the remaining song a 4/10, a 5/10, a 6/10, a 7/10 and a 8/10 rating, so it can turn out really good or really bad.

LBTrocks don't you meet most of your new people these days hanging out in bars in North Dakota? You probably think that Diesel and Gertie are popular names right now!

A lot of people on Pulse have been enjoying Elle King's latest turn towards country, so it's no surprise to me that this would be a strong competitor for the top 5! In the end it fell from the top 3 at the last minute thanks to Kris Kringle 's last minute #17 rank, but still managed to stay ahead of Catie to stay in the top 5! Personally I am not in love with the minor key melody of this one, but I am definitely willing to keep checking out Elle's country project, as she seems to have a knack for this genre! At least we can thank God that everything she has released on her own so far has been exponentially better than the s**tpile that is "Different for Girls"!!!

THRILLED to see "Out Yonder" in the top 5 where it belongs! That song is a straight up BANGER! I adore Elle King, but that may be my favorite thing I've heard from her thus far!
"The Neon" is also fantastic. Hailey Whitters is so great!

Hailey Whitters does it again!!! She has been an unstoppable force in this rankdown, as this is now I believe the fourth time she has shown up in this series, and has won almost every time! "The Neon" did prove to be stoppable, but it was still our most consistent #2 contender!
Listening to Hailey's voice, she doesn't sound like someone who would get the kind of consistent praise that she does around here, so I think her incredible streak in this series comes down to the strength of her music lately!

Because it isn't lmao just like Nicole is way more common than Nichole, I'll give you the Kristen/Kristin one tho. Gurl don't even try to act like any of them are unusual enough to be even slightly abnormal. Unlike Catie, which is a noteworthily rare variation. Not abnormal but I'd definitely argue that Abby and Nicole are much more typical spellings than Abbie and Nichole, lol. Especially when it comes to Abbie like who's first instinct (except yours apparently lol) would be to spell it that way instead of simply Abby LBTrocks don't you meet most of your new people these days hanging out in bars in North Dakota? You probably think that Diesel and Gertie are popular names right now! Actually no, lol. Most of them are at concerts or thru mutual friends, but regardless, have never run into anyone with names like that lol. I wouldn't be surprised to meet someone named Diesel at some point tho ngl

I love "Ghost Story" but it can't compete with the Randall and Miranda tunes, so I'm glad to see this out now.
It's a total jam tho. I love the melody and production and Carrie's voice. I get it being a bit underwhelming to some for a lead single, but for me it really isn't tbh

How exciting to have Carrie and Miranda finally releasing new music at the same time! In the battle between them, however, Carrie comes up short, kicking off the top 3 while Miranda once again finds herself in the top 2. And look at taylor and I making this one the first song we have seen receive multiple #1s I really like "Ghost Story" so far! That "I'll be haunting you, you'll be wanting me" couplet is one of my favorite lyrics of the year so far I'm not sure how I feel about how sonically eclectic Carrie's new album seems to be yet again, but this one is a win to kick off the era imo!

3 vs 5. Glad I did my part to ensure Ghost Story doesn't win just because it's by Carrie.

All of the top 3 are great but I'm definitely TEAM MIRANDA here!I second this! And as for "Ghost Story", it has grown on me a bit more but...this is (so far) shaping up to be one of my least favorite eras. About the only thing released thus far that I've felt compelled to revisit is "Crazy Angels".

3 vs 5. Glad I did my part to ensure Ghost Story doesn't win just because it's by Carrie.Lmao like Carrie has proven to be somebody who skates by in this series based on name alone.... (I bet her average rank in this series would be lower than polarizing figures like Chris Stapleton and Eric Church).

Wow, that wasn't even close! I honestly would've been fine with either song winning as this was a perfect top 2 for this month.

This was pretty much Miranda's rankdown to lose for almost the entire time, as "Strange" is undeniably connecting on Pulse so far! Seems to me like one that would make for a good single, so hopefully it will get an official push soon once "Cowboy" peaks!
"Shot Glass" has all the lyrical impact of the country classics, and Randall King has a voice worthy of stardom. PLEASE let him break out soon!!!!
