Wow, this is proving to be a brutal rankdown! The bottom 2 was perfect tho! "Beers and Sunshine" is horrendous! I find it hard to believe this is the kind of music Darius Rucker actually wants to record, I mean this is the same man who was complaining about how he wasn't allowed to make the traditional record he wanted to when he first went country. Anyway, I digress. I can't make it thru this trendy bro-leaning song. "Small Town, Girl" being out this early HURTS tho! What a jam! Side note, I'd like to thank Lainey for having a COMMA in her title where it belongs, unlike Carrie with "Good Girl" and Carly Pearce with "Next Girl." Huge pet peeve of mine, and I'm so used to the comma not being there, that I didn't initially realize there was a comma in Lainey's song! But when I did I was so happy

Carolineâs voice is angelic (a cross between Cam and Alison Krauss) but the song is a bit lackluster.

Rounding out the bottom 5 is our second female song....and our first #1 loss :'( Sorry taylor!! Caroline Jones has one of my favorite voices of the newer ladies who are trying to make it right now She sounds soooooooo sweet and pleasant all the time. Her voice is soft kinda like Alison Krauss, but with more mainstream grit to it. Tbh, I can understand why "What A View" is leaving now, despite my love for it. The first time I heard it, I was absolutely pulled in and awestruck by the magic of the verses...but for some reason the chorus felt really out of place, and took me out of the mood that the song was doing such a great job building leading up to the chorus. With repeat listens this past month I have come to love it, but I can totally see why it might place lowly considering that most of you probably only gave it a listen or two to submit for this. I also love the lyrics of this one. It is not at all a conventional love song, in that it describes two people who have known each other for most of their lives and just kinda came to love one another after years of proximity and friendship. It is far from the conventional love-at-first-sight types of love songs, but yet very much a real thing that happens to people. I'm not sure I have ever heard a love song quite like this, tbh. I reeeeaaaally hope she can hang on and break through! I find everything about her to just be so refreshing!

But when I did I was so happy But both "Good Girl" and "Next Girl" use the phrase without a comma in their songs just as much as they use the phrase with a comma. The point of their songs is the wordplay between the two iterations. "He's no good, girl" vs. "Hey, good girl" "I know what happens next, girl" vs. "once upon a time I was the next girl"Like, it would be sooooo unnecessarily clunky for them to put a comma in their title when they say the phrase without a comma literally just as much if not more than they say the phrase with a comma Edit: I see Lainey uses both iterations of the phrase in her song too. But it actually makes sense for her to use the comma, because it is waaaaaay less clunky with 3 words than it would be with 2.

"Beer And Sunshine" is more than a bit basic but it's enjoyable, I'm a little surprised it couldn't do slightly better but never expected it high.
"Need A Bar Sometimes" is similar, it's a fine song but hasn't clicked with me the way "Easy Going" did earlier this year. Very glad he's back to pushing at radio though!
Lainey is quickly becoming one to watch for me, great song and I don't know why it ended up so low, felt like something Pulse would like.
Caroline has been hit and miss with me so far having to do with her material. I can't say I really enjoyed this one, but her voice sounds so pretty here so I bumped it up a spot or two.

Beers And Sunshine panders to the current trend of party songs too much. Plus I definitely heard this melody from him before. Need A Bar Sometimes is quite pop. The guitar is fine but not that memorable. The way Lainey Wilson using a-a-a-ahs as filler in Small Town, Girl is quite unpleasant to my ears. What A View shouldn't be five minutes long. There is just not enough variation of that melody to sustain the length, so while her voice is pleasant, I can't rank it high.

2. What will be #20? I Should Probably Go to Bed4. What else will be in the bottom 5? What a View, Need a Bar Sometimes, Beers and Sunshine, Didn't Miss a Beat4/5 on the predictions so far! I still expect Easton Corbin's song in the next couple reveals, too. So far this is off to a solid start. All of these are songs I either flat-out don't like (in the case of D+S) or they're songs that are okay but nothing too special (everything else). Pleased enough with this bottom 5 overall.

Well, damn. I was bracing myself for it as I knew it'd be coming eventually (just about everyone predicted WAV would be the first female song to go), but that still hurt. I find "What A View" to be quite beautiful. As boaty pointed out, the lyrics are lovely, talking about two friends who've known each other their whole lives and only just now have begun to fall in love with each other. I find that so beautiful and something about the production hits me with a HUGE wave of childhood nostalgia, despite my never having a childhood sweetheart. On that end, Caroline did a really wonderful job. I stand by my #1.

Totally missed the pre-reveal questions for this round, but I no doubt wouldâve predicted that âI Should Probably Go to Bedâ would leave first. Iâm almost taken aback by how universally disliked this is here on Pulse as I never wouldâve guessed it wouldâve received 15 last place votes!
Also not surprised that Dariusâ âBeer and Gasolineâ was out in the bottom two as his material is never really received well on Pulse. This song was initially a bit higher on my list, but after a few more listens and edits it finally settled back in my bottom three.
Clayâs âNeed a Bar Sometimesâ wasnât on my radar at all as being a song that might leave in the bottom five, especially when yâall had put âEasy Goinââ in the top 15 a few months back (personally I found that one a bit bland and forgettable). I admit I was a bit hesitant going into this song if only because the production is a bit more pop infused, but I found it to be an infectious earworm and lyrically catchy. Itâll be interesting to see if Clay is able to score another radio hit as they seem to be giving this one more promotional support.
Of the four songs to be featured by Lainey, âSmall Town, Girlâ is my second favorite next to the great âRolling Stoneâ. I wouldnât have pegged this to be a bottom five contender, either.
The more I listened to âWhat a Viewâ the more it grew on me, but I still found this one to be a bit harder to rank than most of the other songs here. It was good enough that I couldnât dare put it in my bottom five, so I ended up finding a spot for it in my top 15.
And you mean Chris Stapleton managed to escape the bottom five?!? Color me surprised!

Missed these last night but I am shocked that D&S was gone first. I mean I did rank it there but didn't think it was that disliked by others.

Bra Off and Keep Up from the EP are just not good, but the stripped down approach of Me About Me works imo. The basis of listening to and caring of the other half in a relationshop is real. That song title is certainly strange though.

Didn't Miss A Beat is Easton Corbin's another attempt of getting played in mainstream radio. I think it's groovy enough for radio fodder but like many radio fodders the lyrics here are generic.

RaeLynn didn't make it nearly high enough but thankfully she at least escaped the bottom 5. :/

Kinda bummed with how we treated Gary Allan here. "Waste Of A Whiskey Drink" is one of the best songs he has released in years. I can see the chorus melody being a little repetitive I guess, but the verses are really solid! The lyrics are pretty great too. Would have loved to see him finish in the top 10, but it settled in right at 13 or 14 for almost the entire submission process.

I love Gary Allan but "Waste of A Whiskey Drink" wasn't a favorite of mine on first listen... actually doubt I'd revisit it on my own.

"I Got A Truck" seemed to run the gamut with our ranks. It has our second #1 loss courtesy of SHOOTER, but it also saw two last places from superdave3556 and taylor. With exactly half of us putting it in our top 10 and half of us putting it in our bottom 10, it made sense that it would finish pretty close to the middle.

I've grown to like Devin Dawson and would have no problem with him finding long-term success in the genre, but "I Got A Truck" was just decent to me.

Suuuuuuuuper sad to see "body language of a breakup" miss the top 10 :'( This song is quite possibly the catchiest song I have ever heard from Lindsay Ell! For some reason, it just gets better and better every time I hear it. It was an easy choice for #1 for me.
