About the only thing I can say about “Gone” is that it is catchy. I’m sure it’s going to be a decent sized hit for Dierks, but I really could take it or leave it. The sound and production is quite reminiscent of say “Somewhere On a Beach” or “Drunk On a Plane” which isn’t a compliment. Anyways, this post by him earlier today was very cute and made me smile:
I just as easily could’ve probably put “Hell Of a View” as my top ranked song because I’ve had it on repeat every day. This appears to be having a great start at country radio and will likely be one of Eric’s biggest hits since probably “Record Year”.

"Gone" is TRASH. I'm sorry, that chorus is dreadful... Niko Moon is in full-swing here and it shows, yuck!!!! The rest of the song is actually fine...that chorus, ended my life. Horrid.
"Hell of A View" is generic Eric Church. Seriously, feel like I've heard this same song from him a million times and I wasn't here for it the first time either. Hard pass.

"Without You" climbed its way up steadily throughout the rankdown, and seemed about ready to snatch a #3 victory! That is, until its LOWEST rank came at the very end thanks to Kanenrá:ke...  This song is beautiful. Luke's vocal is really good, and Amanda's fiddle makes the whole thing come to life! It's become one of my favorite things I have heard from him, so I am thrilled to see it do so well here! One of the reasons Jordan's rank was enough to push it backwards so far is because this region of the rankdown is SOOOOOOOO CLOSE!!!! Believe it or not, our #3 song has 155 points. This one only has 156. Yes, there are some definite ties going on in the very near future. Lmao |

Don't really feel for Feeling Things. More on the boring side of the album. We Didn't Have Much is quite nice-sounding song. Agreed with bboat11 so much. Gone is so underwhelming. Hell of a View is mid Eric Church song. Feel like he used Joanna Cotten too much. But the red/purple/blue imagery in the second verse fits the general artwork directions of this era I guess? Without You has good fiddle from Amanda Shires but I'm tired of Luke Combs' choice of melody. |

And I was wrong in my prediction...which I’m completely fine with because I’d rather see Jamie in the top 5 over Luke. Honestly, I’m starting to feel a tad bit fatigued with Luke as everything he releases is really starting to kind of blend together. He’s definitely approaching the point of oversaturation for me personally and I wouldn’t mind at all if there’s a bit more of a lag going into whatever he has planned for his next era.

Oh Cam fans, check out Kanenrá:ke 's rank for this one!!!!! He’s really trying to make a run for the title of Senior Flops isn’t he?! This song is absolutely gorgeous and I’m so glad that it managed to squeak into the top 5. I’m not ready to say wether or not this release matches her debut as both are quite different sonically, but it’s pretty close for me as I’ve liked or loved about everything from it. She’s a country superstar in the waiting but I think she’s alienated herself a bit by speaking out about things well before she was established enough to do so. |

Randall King is a... king lol. But seriously, he is SUCH a breath of fresh AIR! I ADORE his voice, and he sings REAL country!!!!! Glad this made the top 5.
Look....I love Maren, I really like her song in this, but it isn't one of my favs from her... was not rooting for it to win, but I'm sure it will lol.

Bring on the album series for Jamie, bboat11! I’m a bit surprised this one managed to make it into the top 3 if only because I don’t think she’s someone that Pulse is all that familiar with overall, but honestly her new album is just as good if not better than anything she’s released previously. |

Evidently I did a good job picking the monthly Jamie song! Lol This was far and away my favorite of the new songs from her album dropped in October. The melody and theme are so delightfully COUNTRY, which is a nice change of pace after the more slick pop vibes of some of the other stuff we've heard from the album. I'd still put "Closer To Closure" ahead of it personally, but still an incredible song! Never in a million years expected it to finish at #3, especially in a list as strong as this, but I'm very happy it did! Don't tempt me to start a new album series until BOTB/ROTB/2020 year-end are all out of the way!!! 😂 |
