Forgetting You sounds a bit better when it exists by itself rather than in an album that has too many ballads. Randall King deserves Parker McCollum's success, although his imagery still reminds me too much of George Strait which is kind of cliche from Texas based artists. Prettiest Wreck is so much better than her last two songs in this series of rankdown. Not good enough for me to rank it higher.

omg, a "Dear Radio" win would KILL me!!! Please happen!! How’s that moscato?! so autocorrect on Safari decided that "rodeo" was incorrect and was like, 'you mean radio don't you? You're welcome.'

I mean, both are really good, but "Dear Rodeo" >>>>>>>> what an amazing traditional country jam, Reba is a perfect addition to this song!!! Love it so much. Maren's song is really good, too... but honestly not one of my favs from her. Happy enough that it won, but I don't think it was one of the strongest songs in this set. Anyway, thanks for hosting bboat11 ! Fun as usual and I look forward to next month.

Meh. At least I saw my last place when next BOTB comes. Dear Rodeo might be my #1 if I didn't listen to original so much when it was released in 2018. Better Than We Found It is a generic take of state of US in 2020. The melody and production are also terrible. No one's gonna remember this a month later.

So I was not at all expecting "Dear Rodeo" to do this well....but I've got to admit that I am also a bit disappointed to see it come up just shy of a win since it made it sooooo close. This is exactly what I want from my modern country music! The melody to this absolutely slays! Imo the start of the chorus is pretty generic, but then all of a sudden the entire flow of the line gets interrupted by the "I'm jaded, woah I hate it" lines, and it ups the catchiness factor of this song significantly. I haven't even watched the music video yet, but the promo teasers had me shook, so I'll have to do that.
"Better Than We Found It" is very timely, but I can't help but feel like its victory is a bit on the predictable side for Pulse. I do like it a lot though!
Thank you to those who took the time out of their busy holiday season to participate and follow along! I'm looking SO forward to next month... Y'all can look forward to something a little bit more....festive than usual ;)

Very happy with a Maren Morris win here! Another fantastic song from her. The melody is just so enticing on "Better Than We Found It," and she handles the message really well imo.
Also really pleased with the performance of "Takin' It As It Comes" here! That was my one big request for the month's list because I was totally infatuated with it. It is such a perfect country song vocally, melodically, productional, etc. Those flashes of fiddle that come out in the middle of the second verse just give me goosebumps. I liked some of his other songs prior to this one, but this "Takin' It" is the best thing I've heard from him by far and just feels like a classic. I need them to hurry up and try to push him to mainstream radio because he deserves to be getting hits outside of just Texas.

so "Dear Rodeo" has grown on my significantly and I wish I had ranked it a lot higher. If I was to rank this now I think it would easily be in my Top 10.
That being said "Better Than We Found It" is still my favorite song in this list and I am SUPER happy that it won! Maren sounds great and the lyrics are really good. Enjoy this a lot more than I did "The Bones" or "To Hell & Back" (both of which I like but don't love)

I agree with the sentiment about “Dear Rodeo” getting better with age. It would actually be my number one if we were to do this again today.

Very glad to see that Maren Morris won this! "Better Than We Found It" and "Dear Rodeo" are both great and you KNOW I love me some Reba, but "Better Than We Found It" was just the only correct choice imo. The message needed to be heard and it was handled very well. Kanenrá:ke what on EARTH is that #22?!!?!

Yeah, if y’all have holiday requests, hit me! I can promise nothing because I want to keep the playlist at no more than 20 songs, and I already have 22 😂 But like if it’s for one of the new albums maybe I could swap out my choice for your choice, etc.

bboat11 so how are we doing holiday releases? Is there going to be some sort of separate rankdown for those or will they be mixed in with the regular country songs in November?

bboat11 so how are we doing holiday releases? Is there going to be some sort of separate rankdown for those or will they be mixed in with the regular country songs in November? Great question! This coming month will be honoring all of our new holiday releases. Then the next rankdown will have all of the new non-Christmas songs from November and December squished together. I felt like that would work best, because we have had a really strong year for country Christmas music, especially from the ladies (!), but Christmas music always gets done dirty alongside regular music. Plus so few non-Christmas songs come out in November and December anyway, we can easily just combine them rather than January getting here and us only having a handful of songs to rank.

Like I just said to .indulgecountry, our next edition is going to be honoring the Christmas releases of 2020! There have been a LOT of great releases from a lot of big names, but especially from the ladies who have dominated the Christmas scene this year! 'Tis the season for some holiday cheer, plus the Christmas songs will just get done dirty if they have to compete with regular music. For the December rankdown (taking place in January), we will squish together all of the new non-Christmas songs from both November and December. There are so few new releases this time of year they will easily fit into a single month, allowing us to take a little detour to celebrate the holidays! I had to make a lot of hard decisions to keep us down to just 20 songs... It's been a very prolific year for country Christmas! November 2020:
The Playlist: (Runtime 1 hr. 10 min.) 1. Christmas Always Finds Me - Ingrid Andress 2. Christmas on the Radio - Runaway June 3. Christmas on the Square - Dolly Parton 4. Circle of Love - Dolly Parton 5. Cowboy Christmas - Terri Clark ft. Ricky Skaggs 6. Feeling Like Christmas - Olivia Lane 7. The First Noel - Gabby Barrett 8. Hallelujah - Carrie Underwood ft. John Legend 9. Hard Candy Christmas - Kassi Ashton 10. Jingle Bell Drunk - RaeLynn 11. Let There Be Peace - Carrie Underwood 12. Lit This Year - Florida Georgia Line 13. Little Saint Nick - Lady A 14. Merry, Merry Christmas Baby - Ronnie Milsap 15. O Holy Night - Danielle Bradbery 16. Only Time of Year - Brandy Clark 17. Please Come Home for Christmas - Teddy Swims 18. Take Me Home for Christmas - Dan + Shay 19. Under the Mistletoe - Kelly Clarkson ft. Brett Eldredge 20. We Need Christmas - Maddie & Tae

Time for our first reminder!!! So far we are off to a decent start for this one, since Christmas rankdowns are not as popular as regular rankdowns. However, I am hoping that if the Christmas haters choose to participate in one Christmas rankdown for the season, it would be this one It still has all the modern relevance of the other new country releases rankdowns, plus having the variety will make this much more appealing than the other Christmas ones that are devoted to just a single artist! Especially because the variety includes lots of songs from Pulse faves like Dolly Parton, Carrie Underwood, Runaway June, Maddie & Tae, and so many more ;) Here is our participation so far! 1. Darkest Hour2. tim3. .indulgecountry4. someguyThe deadline is currently set for Christmas Day, which is now just under 1 week away. There is still time to extend by a couple days if needed, but the goal is to slot this one in comfortably before the Christmas season is obsolete, and on Pulse it goes obsolete VERY quickly after Christmas Day...

Friendly reminder that this is supposed to be due TOMORROW!!! Anybody else planning to join? Do you need more time, or can you get it done in 24 hours? I know these Christmas rankdowns are never super popular, so I am not going to extend it hoping for more lists unless anybody specifically asks for more time. I hope everyone is having a great holiday! Here is our participation so far! 1. Darkest Hour 2. tim 3. .indulgecountry 4. someguy 5. HeyHeyHey6. bboat117. castleoblivion268.
