coming in with another small improvement we have...9. Team Big Bird (maine & @jadenlefranks)Overall Score: 72.9 | Detour Rank: #14 | Roadblock Rank: #3 | Bonus From Last Leg: +0.4Detour Results:(Dancing Bars)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: oop someone did not do their research. though I liked this song when it was brand new, it’s shrunk on me quite a lot, and now I don’t find it particularly enjoyable. it’s not bad per se, it’s a perfectly well made song, it just does nothing for me (and I think I’ve made that at least decently well known, lol) (5.6)Samo: Even in a set with as many classics as this one, this song still manages to stand out as one of the best, albeit a more obvious choice than a lot of other songs. The way this song is able to maintain its high-energy feel through the whole song without being tiring is also pretty amazing. (9.7) Albie: come on modern classic! (9.5)Adrian: I know I hold the unpopular opinion of not thinking this song is amazing. I enjoyed it at first, but it's gotten worse over time for me and now I think it's just okay. The chorus is kind of fun but it's not something I'd come back to. I also struggle to see how this fits the theme because I've always interpreted this as a very sexual track. So while it does explicitly mention "dancing" a few times, I've always understood that as a metaphor for something a lot more intimate. So I would dock a couple points for that as well. You could've done so much better here in my opinion. (5.8)Overall Score: 30.6Roadblock Results:(Sent by Jaden)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: this is a sweet little song. I really dug NFR as an album overall, and I’d say this is in the upper echelon of tracks from it for me. It’s a sweetly written track, and Lana delivers a nice vocal performance. overall, its the quite pleasant track (8.4)
Samo: This is the kind of song I prefer from Lana, but it still doesn’t do a lot for me, especially compared to some other songs on NFR. Her vocals fit the song pretty well. (7.8)
Leaf: I enjoyed the forlorn but pretty sound this has going, which was further aided by Lana's delivery. (8.7)
Trilogy: Great melody, good lyrics, overall a pleasant listen. Her discography is admittedly all over this place but this is a high for me. (8.0)
gabe: This song is amazing. Really you could have picked any track off NFR and it would have been a great pick. This track is so emotional and one of Lana’s best. (9.0)
Overall Score: 41.9
despite a weak detour performance, you two were carried by your very strong roadblock! you'll receive a +0.8 bonus next leg

improving on their previous performance we have...10. The Steel Porcupines (@humanshazam & House Lannister )Overall Score: 72.3 | Detour Rank: #12 | Roadblock Rank: #6 | Bonus From Last Leg: +0.2Detour Results:(Dancing Bars)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: on first listen, I found this somewhat catchy but mostly annoying. on second listen, I find it to be a jam! the production choices are super unique, and overall the song has some great energy to it! strong track! (8.1)Samo: Love this one! Any song that effectively uses a slide whistle is going to be something special, and this is no exception. If the rap verse fit a little better this could’ve scored even better, but it’s a great song nonetheless. (9.3)Albie: someone has taste! (10)Adrian: I'm not a fan of this personally. It has a lot of sounds that just don't really mesh well, and so it's a little on the noisier side for me. I'm not too impressed with the vocals here and the rap verse isn't that good. It fits the theme though so that's what's saving your score right now. But surely, there were better songs to choose from. (5.3)Overall Score: 32.8Roadblock Results:(Sent by Brian)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: I like how tense the instrumental, and song as a whole, starts out here. then when the groovier beat kicks in it’s incredibly satisfying haha. the instrumental throughout the whole song is definitely a highlight, overall, and Mariah’s a very good singer, so I quite enjoy this song! (8.4)Samo: Mariah’s always been good at more upbeat songs, and this is no exception, although it isn’t on the same level as her more iconic singles. The chorus melody is really great, and her vocals are stellar as always. (8.3)Leaf: Well, her vocals here are a selling point as usual. I haven't been alive long enough to have experienced the 90s, but I can still say this song is basically what I think when I think 90s. (8.1)Trilogy: The intro is definitely great, but I think that's the only thing I liked about the song. Don't get me wrong, I like her vocals but the so-so music brings it down. (6.0)Gabe: Oooh she SNAPPED! I didn’t like the first minute but then she started going off! I don’t really have any complaints about this! (8.5)Overall Score: 39.3despite a weaker start with the detour, things really picked up for you two when you landed in the top half for the roadblock. you'll get a +0.6 bonus next round

staying in the same spot we have...11. Sambal Wrap (Sambalada & wrip)Overall Score: 72.3 | Detour Rank: #10 | Roadblock Rank: #9 | Bonus From Last Leg: +0.4Detour Results:(Vintage Cars)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: I love this song. it’s so soothing, and Sinatra just has *that* voice. I also really like the lyrics. I believe wripwrap described this song as being like looking out over a city at night, and that’s really the vibe it hits - lucky for you I love cities at nighttime haha. (10)Samo: This song’s strongest asset is definitely its lyrics and how relatable they are, but the music isn’t anything outstanding to me, which prevented me from giving it a better score. (7.5)Albie: lovely song but not totally the sound that comes to mind when I think vintage cars (7.5)Adrian: The best word to describe Frank Sinatra and this song is simply "iconic". I love the lyrics here and it's something that I'm sure has resonated with many. I know I've had sleepless nights filled with loneliness while in love. It's sad, but people can relate to it and I think that is its best quality. Combine that with Frank Sinatra's great vocal, and you get 3 minutes of pure enjoyment. (8.9)Overall Score: 33.9Roadblock Results:(Sent by Samba)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: this one’s okay I guess. I don’t think the “thank u, next” era has aged particularly well, but I don’t really mind this one. the beat’s kinda cool but the song doesn’t particularly stand out all that much, and I find some of the vocal choices to be kinda irritating. overall, not a bad song, but not really a good one either. I’m also not huge on the outro (5.9)
Samo: I’m still confused as to why this was never a single in favour of [any of the other singles not called “thank u, next”]; it’s great. Some of the background vocals don’t really fit with the song, but I love the beat and the breakdown after the final chorus, even if it runs a little long. (9.0)
Leaf: I wasn't exactly drawn in by the production here (an issue I also had with goodnight n go). But for some reason I found the chorus on this one kind of "fun", so to speak. (6.7)
Trilogy: I think the outro runs too long for a beat like on here, but I think this is something I can roll with. Sad lyrics over a fun instrumental is usually a win for me as long as they're done well enough, but in my opinion, there are better songs on tu,n. (6.0)
gabe: Stunning. Amazing. Changed the game. This song is pure perfection and is top 3 from thank u, next for me. I love how it builds up until a more explosive final chorus. And the outro? Euphoric. This song is an absolute 10/10. (10)
Overall Score: 37.6
you two remain in the same spot from last leg, but don't get too comfortable! in a couple legs, that may not be good enough! however, you will be getting a +0.4 bonus next leg

in the same place as the previous leg we have...12. Bowser (@nonameneeded & rom )Overall Score: 71.8 | Detour Rank: #8 | Roadblock Rank: #13 | Bonus From Last Leg: +0.6Detour Results:(Dancing Bars)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: I love this song! the guitar work is immaculate, and the vocals are also pretty awesome. the lyrics are super well written as well! this would be a ten if it weren’t for the outro, which I just really don’t like at all. that said, it barely detracts from the song (9.8)Samo: I first heard this over a year ago in March Madness, and it still grows on me more with every listen. This is also one of the less obvious picks here, so I’m inclined to give it a slightly higher score, but this is a beautiful song either way. (9.7)Albie: stand-out choice! (9)Adrian: This is a cool discovery. I wasn't really blown away or amazed by it. But it's catchy overall and I appreciate the attempt at choosing a not-so-obvious song for this theme. I don't think it's great enough to be as long as it is and I'm not sure I'd revisit it, but it was still an enjoyable first listen. (8.1)Overall Score: 36.6Roadblock Results:(Sent by rom)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: that singing though! Joni Mitchell has such a nice voice, it really helps make the song. the instrumental is also pretty complex and overall quite well put together I’d say! the horns work really well especially. overall I quite enjoy this song, and I’ve been quite enjoying the picks of your team overall thus far! (8.7)Samo: Joni sounds great here, and the instrumental is nice as well, especially those horns. I don’t really have much to say here, it’s just a really good song that I can see growing on me with even more listens. (8.1)Leaf: This was pretty pleasant. It makes for a nice combination of jazzy and folksy. (7.8)Trilogy: that singing though! Joni Mitchell has such a nice voice, it really helps make the song. the instrumental is also pretty complex and overall quite well put together I’d say! the horns work really well especially. overall I quite enjoy this song, and I’ve been quite enjoying the picks of your team overall thus far! (8.7)Gabe: First I’d like to say I find the vocalist’s tone annoying and difficult to listen to. I really hate the random vocalizing around 1 minute and have no idea why it’s in the song. This sounds like an instrumental that would be used for the background of a boring history movie. (3)Overall Score: 34.6a decent detour performance could only take you so far when most of the detour songs performed well, meaning your roadblock brought you close to elimination. if you stay in 12th, you'll be out in a couple rounds, so choose your songs wisely. you'll get a +0.2 bonus next round
