Nick: oop someone did not do their research. though I liked this song when it was brand new, it’s shrunk on me quite a lot, and now I don’t find it particularly enjoyable. it’s not bad per se, it’s a perfectly well made song, it just does nothing for me (and I think I’ve made that at least decently well known, lol) (5.6)

Samo: Even in a set with as many classics as this one, this song still manages to stand out as one of the best, albeit a more obvious choice than a lot of other songs. The way this song is able to maintain its high-energy feel through the whole song without being tiring is also pretty amazing. (9.7)

Adrian: I know I hold the unpopular opinion of not thinking this song is amazing. I enjoyed it at first, but it's gotten worse over time for me and now I think it's just okay. The chorus is kind of fun but it's not something I'd come back to. I also struggle to see how this fits the theme because I've always interpreted this as a very sexual track. So while it does explicitly mention "dancing" a few times, I've always understood that as a metaphor for something a lot more intimate. So I would dock a couple points for that as well. You could've done so much better here in my opinion. (5.8)

Nick: this is a sweet little song. I really dug NFR as an album overall, and I’d say this is in the upper echelon of tracks from it for me. It’s a sweetly written track, and Lana delivers a nice vocal performance. overall, its the quite pleasant track (8.4)

Samo: This is the kind of song I prefer from Lana, but it still doesn’t do a lot for me, especially compared to some other songs on NFR. Her vocals fit the song pretty well. (7.8)

Leaf: I enjoyed the forlorn but pretty sound this has going, which was further aided by Lana's delivery. (8.7)

Nick: on first listen, I found this somewhat catchy but mostly annoying. on second listen, I find it to be a jam! the production choices are super unique, and overall the song has some great energy to it! strong track! (8.1)

Samo:  Love this one! Any song that effectively uses a slide whistle is going to be something special, and this is no exception. If the rap verse fit a little better this could’ve scored even better, but it’s a great song nonetheless. (9.3)

Albie: someone has taste! (10)

Adrian: I'm not a fan of this personally. It has a lot of sounds that just don't really mesh well, and so it's a little on the noisier side for me. I'm not too impressed with the vocals here and the rap verse isn't that good. It fits the theme though so that's what's saving your score right now. But surely, there were better songs to choose from. (5.3)

Nick: I like how tense the instrumental, and song as a whole, starts out here. then when the groovier beat kicks in it’s incredibly satisfying haha. the instrumental throughout the whole song is definitely a highlight, overall, and Mariah’s a very good singer, so I quite enjoy this song! (8.4)

Samo: Mariah’s always been good at more upbeat songs, and this is no exception, although it isn’t on the same level as her more iconic singles. The chorus melody is really great, and her vocals are stellar as always. (8.3)

Leaf: Well, her vocals here are a selling point as usual. I haven't been alive long enough to have experienced the 90s, but I can still say this song is basically what I think when I think 90s. (8.1)

Trilogy: The intro is definitely great, but I think that's the only thing I liked about the song. Don't get me wrong, I like her vocals but the so-so music brings it down. (6.0)

Nick:  I love this song. it’s so soothing, and Sinatra just has *that* voice. I also really like the lyrics. I believe wripwrap described this song as being like looking out over a city at night, and that’s really the vibe it hits - lucky for you I love cities at nighttime haha. (10)

Samo: This song’s strongest asset is definitely its lyrics and how relatable they are, but the music isn’t anything outstanding to me, which prevented me from giving it a better score. (7.5)

Albie: lovely song but not totally the sound that comes to mind when I think vintage cars (7.5)

Adrian: The best word to describe Frank Sinatra and this song is simply "iconic". I love the lyrics here and it's something that I'm sure has resonated with many. I know I've had sleepless nights filled with loneliness while in love. It's sad, but people can relate to it and I think that is its best quality. Combine that with Frank Sinatra's great vocal, and you get 3 minutes of pure enjoyment. (8.9)

Nick: this one’s okay I guess. I don’t think the “thank u, next” era has aged particularly well, but I don’t really mind this one. the beat’s kinda cool but the song doesn’t particularly stand out all that much, and I find some of the vocal choices to be kinda irritating. overall, not a bad song, but not really a good one either. I’m also not huge on the outro (5.9)

Samo: I’m still confused as to why this was never a single in favour of [any of the other singles not called “thank u, next”]; it’s great. Some of the background vocals don’t really fit with the song, but I love the beat and the breakdown after the final chorus, even if it runs a little long. (9.0)

Leaf: I wasn't exactly drawn in by the production here (an issue I also had with goodnight n go). But for some reason I found the chorus on this one kind of "fun", so to speak. (6.7)

Trilogy: I think the outro runs too long for a beat like on here, but I think this is something I can roll with. Sad lyrics over a fun instrumental is usually a win for me as long as they're done well enough, but in my opinion, there are better songs on tu,n. (6.0)

gabe: Stunning. Amazing. Changed the game. This song is pure perfection and is top 3 from thank u, next for me. I love how it builds up until a more explosive final chorus. And the outro? Euphoric. This song is an absolute 10/10. (10)

Nick: I love this song! the guitar work is immaculate, and the vocals are also pretty awesome. the lyrics are super well written as well! this would be a ten if it weren’t for the outro, which I just really don’t like at all. that said, it barely detracts from the song (9.8)

Samo: I first heard this over a year ago in March Madness, and it still grows on me more with every listen. This is also one of the less obvious picks here, so I’m inclined to give it a slightly higher score, but this is a beautiful song either way. (9.7)
