I may be nuts but some of the chimes in this song sound like God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen? Jam, I love the whip sound. Allison is a brilliant singer, a master of the overtones. #24 Money Changes Everything Cyndi Lauper
Cyndi doesn’t get enough props as a vocalist, I love how long she holds that climactic ‘Moneyyy’ note near the end....although it’s not quite as great as that beauty of a note she holds in ‘All Through the Night’.

#30. Turn Up the Radio - Autograph Idk what's more surprsiing? This song making it out of the bottom twenty, or the fact that its not in my top 5. I like this song a lot. Made my personal charts it just doesn't have the bite of other Hair Metal classics. The intro with its magnifying bass build up of the song is the best part.
#29. Don't Answer Me - The Alan Parsons Project I'm not very big on this band. "Eye In The Sky" and "Games People Play" are the ones that bring back the fondest memories. This one had a sorta Electric Light Orchestra melody to it, but really needed Jeff Lynne on vocals to get me fully on board.
#28. Can't Shake Loose - Agnetha Fältskog I see ABBA fans didn't really flip over this one. I always dug it because it sounded like a straight out Olivia Newton-John song. This song is physically "Physical" part 2.
#27. No Easy Way Out - Robert Tepper Terrific 80's Synthrock. All of the Rocky Soundtrack jams had this same epic vibe to them. Strong chorus. This is what Michael Bolton sounded like in 1983. If you long for this style go check out The Night Flight Orchestra.
#26. When the Lights Go Out - Naked Eyes I'm a sucker for British Synthpop. If it was British, and synthpop chances are I charted it in the 80's. This was actually a minor top 40 hit for this band. Very nice melody, but it lacked the strength of their prior hits. I have grown into it a lot more in the past years.
#25. The Belle of St. Mark - Sheila E. You could tell this was an 80's Prince production blindfolded. I love those Top of The Pop playbacks. This is another song that sounded better now than it ever did back then, but I still had the issue with the fact that Sheila's vocals were a bit on the weak side. I think she would have sounded better if she had been banging on the skins while singing it.
#24. Money Changes Everything - Cyndi Lauper This is surely my least favorite song from Cyndi. I didn't even recall this one. The melody was odd and that performance was a wreck. I mean I always found her to be a little odd, but she was also usually a lot more fun than this.
#23. Vienna Calling - Falco This song had a VIP slot in my top 10 the second I saw it on the list. Love the percussion which provides the bang after every line of the song. The lyrics are sing a long fire. Especially that prechorus taking you head first into the "Hello Vienna Calling". I want to remember an English version of the song, but maybe I'm just remembering the chorus for sing a long purpose.
#22. 19 -Paul Hardcastle I never really liked this song. It just sounded and still sounds like a bunch of dance beats. I didn't understand the song's concept back then and now it's too late. I wanted stuff to sing along to not reflect on. The chick sounded alright tho.
#21. I Wonder If I Take You Home - Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam with Full Force Now this song I love. This was a certified Funk a thon jam. Love Lisa Lisa's tones. Perfect 80's tones. Very Feminine, and with great vocal range.

EXTRAS:I'm Goin' Down - Bruce SpringsteenThis was the Bruce Springsteen era I flipped over for. All the songs on that album were Heartland fire. Pity this song never got a music video. "Glory Days" is still my favorite of all his Discography. Soul Kiss - Olivia Newton-JohnSultry, sexy ,and very much the vibe of Olivia's music. I remember her being my first celebrity crush. Had her poster on my wall all through the 80's. Her songs were always captivating and firey. I Love rediscovering this one ,and she was smoking hot in the music video. Take Me with U - Prince and the Revolution with ApolloniaRemember when Prince was all weird with his music being showcased on youtube. I couldn't download this one for years. I have the album, but mp3 are so much more easier to access. Speaking of celebrity crushes Apollonia was certified latin fire. Love her vocals. That version she does of Sex Shooter is a musical orgasm. So what about this song? I liked it. Especially the Psychedelic R&B vibe it had ,but the real question forever in my mind is? How the hell did Prince bag all the hottest women on the planet.

40. Lucky One (9): Oh, no! The disrespect toward queen Laura! This was an excellent follow-up to Self Control. It reached the top of my personal chart and ended in my yearend top 15. And to be honest I still like it quite a bit. The first part may sound a bit too AC, but then it goes into much more strong 80s pop-rock with rocker vocals from Laura -and her male background vocals- the handclaps and a catchy melodic chorus, and even a ridiculous but endearing robotic effect lol. I knew I could be a high ranker, but I was still hopeful this would make the top half >:( 39. Don't Pay the Ferryman (21): This was a VERY nice discovery. It took me a few listens to appreciate it and go beyond the slightly weird lyrics, but then the vocals and strong rocker sound fully convinced me. Quite the contrast with Lady In Red. 38. Russians (19): This didn't receive airplay back home, except later in the 90s as an oldie in AC radio stations. I discovered it in the 90s as well. I like the melody and vocals and subdued production quite a bit, but it's a bit too simple compared with other songs in this RD, so I can see why it's this low. 37. Torture (8): Based on previous RDs, I knew this was gonna be tanked, but I'm still unsure why. This was another personal chart-topper in 1984 that was also a hit back home. I still like the melody, production, vocals, and mysterious vibe quite a bit. That guitar solo is also great. A surefire top 10 for me. 36. It Must Be Love (25): It took me a few listens to get the complex, rich instrumentals in this song. The melody is simple yet pleasant. But yeah the musicality is the best element here. 35. We Are the Young (41): OK discovery. The freestyle-ish sound appeared promising, but the melody felt a bit flat and it ended up sounding like a movie song of a B TV film 34. Invisible (35): I like her output with Yazoo and some of her solo songs, but this is not one of my favorites. Her vocals here a bit jarring, and the melody is just okay to me. 33. We Close Our Eyes (36): Mmmm. I wanted to like this more, as they have a handful of songs I like, but I didn't care much for the melody or the production here, and for some reason the way he pronounced "our eyes" annoys me lol. 32. It's a Miracle (20): I really liked CC back in the 80s. This was one of several 45 RPMs I had from them. Great fun music, with strong background vocals in the bridge that are the icing on the cake. They have better songs than this one, though, so I'm not really upset at this missing the top 30. 31. Let's Stay Together (7): Well. I guess this was a horrible reveal section to me --another top 10 loss!! This wasn't a big hit in radio stations back home, but the video received good rotation alongside the other PD videos. I've always considered this a great cover that did a great job at reimagining and modernizing the original. One of my favorite 80s covers actually. Where TF is my #50? Why is it still around when so many strong songs are already gone??!!!

33. We Close Our Eyes (36): OK discovery. The freestyle-ish sound appeared promising, but the melody felt a bit flat and it ended up sounding like a movie song of a B TV film give me an example of said movie. That's probably the reason I love the song anyway , but I would still like to know what falls under the B TV movie category.

I like the production but the melody isn’t my cup of tea. The intro for example is something that would not make me interested in continuing to listen to the song

Somebody finally clears their bottom 10 with this next reveal. 2 others came close to also putting this song in their bottom 10. Both of this song's top 10 rankings were higher than those for "Why Can't I Have You".

None of this next song's top 10s are top 5 rankings. This song was doing very well early on as it was in the top 5 but as more rankings came in it fell into the teens where it ultimately finished.
