The Sounds are going to have to do more to find love as they exit at #23. I really enjoyed this band’s album from this year as it had so many different sub-genres included in it. From indie rock to synthpop to post-punk to power pop. It just had it all to keep me interested.

Another point up is #22. A Top 5 is lost here unfortunately. The end was the closest chance that this song had to make the Top 20.

”X” out “Self Chambered” at #22. It was cool to receive a new album from them this year. They still impress with their mixture of punk, alt-rock, new wave, and psych rock.

The Warlocks aren’t good enough to reach the Top 20 and I’m alone the reason why they don’t when you look at the rankings below. I’m listening to this song currently as I type this reveal. I definitely underranked it. It’s not a bad song by any means, but I guess it underwhelmed me originally.
They have a smooth psych rock / indie rock sound that I think a lot of you would enjoy. Probably more than I do. I did like their new album a decent amount to make this rankdown.

We’ve made it to the Top 20. #20 finishes four points higher than The Warlocks. Two lose a Bottom 10, one loses a Top 10, and unfortunately one loses a Top 5. This also finishes with the second highest SD.

Boston Manor has run out of liquid, but at least they made it to the Top 20. I really enjoyed their debut album “Be Nothing” as it was very pop-punky.
However, they went with a much darker alt rock / post-hardcore sound with their second one “Welcome to the Neighbourhood,” which I liked in its own way. They continued that with the new album “GLUE.”
I think this song itself is fine, but thought that there were just so many more impressive songs in this rankdown.

Time for The Buttertones to go clean their apartment as they leave at #19. One thing I like about this band as I discovered them this year is how talented they are in multiple genres.
According to RYM, this is how they list them in that regard: Indie Rock, Indie Pop, Post-Punk, Surf Rock, Garage Rock, Neo-Psychedelia, and Traditional Pop.

What an appropriate band name for 2020 as Stay Inside turns into poison ivy at #18.
I am SHOCKED at some of these rankings by those who ranked this high on their lists. I guess you guys surprise me once in awhile. I like their post-hardcore / emo sound, but I also listen to tons of bands that sound exactly like them. This song didn’t stick out compared to most others on the rankdown.
Congrats to Sambalada for clearing your Bottom 10.

Ghosts & Typhoons were too scary for Pure Reason Revolution to stay in the rankdown as they leave at #17. Another band that I discovered this year and I love their new album despite being only six tracks. It just has so much going on. From prog rock to electronic and industrial, every song just takes you on a journey.

Sparta should have believed more or maybe they would have reached the Top 15. This song for me is definitely the stand out on their new album and I was thrilled to see them back this year for the first time in fourteen long years.

Remo Drive can now exit the rankdown to go play with flowers and weeds at #14. I must mention that I loved the hell out of their debut album “Greatest Hits” as it was a Midwest Emo fan’s dream. One of my favorites of 2017. However, with their last two albums, they’ve incorporated a less upbeat indie rock kind of sound. Fans have given them a ton of crap for the change, but it’s fine. I don’t mind it much. It just hasn’t blown me away like they did with their first album.

Local H came back this year with their first album in five years. I’ve always had a soft spot for them and kind of wish people knew more than just a couple of their songs that charted well from the mid-90’s.

I have become a big Jeff Rosenstock fan since I heard his previous album from 2018 “POST-.” I thought that was pretty good, but this new one “NO DREAM” is excellent. There’s a reason why it’s been on RYM’s Top 25-30 this year so far.
Alright, Jeff. Time for you to scram! We have one more reveal before getting into the Top 10.
Also, congrats to wrip for clearing your Bottom 10.
