I’d love it if I can reveal the Top 10 before next weekend, but I unfortunately can’t guarantee it with my lack of free time. Thanks a lot to everyone for being so patient with my reveals taking so long.
Anyway, a Top 5 and Top 10 are taken away with this reveal as we move five points up from Mr. Rosenstock scraming.

Aussies Smith Street Band from down under leave the rankdown and go to heaven at #11. I literally just laughed out loud when I looked up what this song title was and where it finished. I get amused too easily.
Anyway… they were a good find for me this year too as I had not heard of them prior to recently. Nice mixture of indie rock, emo, and folk punk. I need to check out their older material too.

Honestly this is a very solid top ten 👌
My remaining ranks are: 1 2 3 6 7 8 10 12 32 36, probably could’ve put my 32 a bit higher tbh.

I guess it only felt like I was getting my ass kicked because I cleared my bottom half relatively early, so I only had high rankings to lose

The Smith Street Band are a really cool act, if I'd have sent they probably would've ended up as my #1. It was so wild to me to see them included on a pulse game when this thread opened up lmao

It was so wild to me to see them included on a pulse game when this thread opened up lmao As most of you know, I am always open to checking out anything that has an ounce of possibility that I'll like it each week when I see new album releases. I gave it a try when I saw their new album was out and I'm very glad that I did. It's still in my Top 100 albums of the year (out of 336 at the moment).

GUM apparently was doing it right as another artist from Australia surprisingly at least to me, makes our Top 10. This song is pretty cool with its psychedelic sound.
I clear my Bottom 10 here, but I did enjoy this more than my #44 ranking may look. It had some nice sounding drum parts within it.

It’s over for Hayley Williams as she leaves the rankdown at #9. As a big Paramore fan, I was very intrigued in Hayley’s debut solo album and in my opinion, it did not disappoint. With a mixture of art pop, synthpop, and really all kinds of pop with some slight rock mixed in, it’s going to probably end up in my Top 75 albums of the year.

Continuing with the word “over,” Wire’s time is over here at #8. They released two albums this year. “Mind Hive” in January and “10:20” in June. “10:20” is a collection of songs that I believe never fit onto previous albums. However, I believe this was remastered as it was on their album “The Ideal Copy.”
This song is just so damn good as I’m listening to it now while I’m writing this. I’m glad to see it make the Top 10. Hell, I’m wondering why I only ranked it at #5 to be honest.

ADULT. certainly started at the end of this rankdown if it had gotten six spots higher. Their new album is still in my Top 15 as their electronic and synthy sound is a great energizer. I’m very happy to discover them this past year.
Congrats to Daryl the Beryl for finally clearing your Bottom 10.

Continuing with the adults trend, The Strokes were apparently talking too much as the children wouldn’t allow them to reach the Top 5.
There’s no surprise that this reached the Top 6, but I am surprised some others that still have not been revealed beat it out.
Condolences to singingrulebritannia and @humanshazam for losing your #1.

A favorite of many goes out at #5. I’m glad that I found out about Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever this year with their jangle pop / indie rock sound that feels like it would be great to listen to on a road trip.

wrip and I lose our #1’s as Chain Gang of 1974 bend the wrong way at #4.
Their new album may not even make my Top 100 of the year list, but this song has to be one of my favorites of the year. I feel like it’s something directly out of the 80’s with its synthpop / dream pop sound.

Purity Ring says “peace” and falls out of the rankdown at #3. This song is pretty solid and honestly I would have been ok finishing on top.
CHVRCHES have really gotten me into modern day synthpop over the last five years or so and Purity Ring is probably the best comparison to them that I can find.
However, I personally do not find them to be nearly as good as their new album isn’t even in my Top 150 of the year. If anyone knows a better comparison to CHVRCHES than them, please let me know as I’d love to check them out.
Condolences to Sambalada for losing your #1.

Empathy Test - "Love Moves" vs. Hum - "In The Den"
These songs are separated by ONE point! Both have #1 rankings in play. Who will take home the crown?

Enter my favorite song from one of my Top 3 albums of the year so far. Seriously, “Inlet” is so freaking good and I was thrilled to see Hum back with a new full-length album for the first time in twenty-two years. If you have not heard it yet, it’s a must. Even if you’re not into them much.
As I mentioned, this misses the #1 spot by just one measly point. Condolences go out to Daryl the Beryl for losing your #1.

I never would have believed that this song would be our #1 when the rankdown started, but this is a terrific choice. As I listen to it right now, I don’t know how this didn’t even make my Top 20.
Empathy Test has some beautiful synths in their music and their album is still in my Top 10 of the year. Apparently, everyone agrees as you all ranked it Top 10…. Except me. I’ll kick my own ass for that one.
Congratulations to @trilogy for being the only participant for having your #1 rank at #1!
