I’ve been listening to mad woman all day and holy s**t, Taylor came for blood on that song. “Does a scorpion sting when fighting back? They strike to kill, and you know I will You know I will... Now I breathe flames each time I talk My cannons all firin' at your yacht They say "move on," but you know I won't The master of spin has a couple side flings Good wives always know She should be mad, should be scathing like me.” Literally exposed Scott’s cheating ass and vowed her revenge... Taylor is not a woman to be messed with. She wants to destroy the both of them and I’m here for it! I always thought mad woman was more about Scooter and the song that was about Scott was my tears ricochet.

A greatest hits album is a good short-term move, but a poor long-term idea if it cannibalizes the rest of her catalog.
They need to get some of these songs into the final scenes of whatever soapy teen dramas are still producing episodes during the pandemic. Get that synch moneyyyy

I know she mentions wanting her dead bringing them two together, but maybe it is about Scooter now that you mention it. Haha either way this woman will destroy them both and I’m living for it!

The "women like hunting witches too doing your dirtiest work for you" feels like it could've been a reference to the way Scooter was using people around him to defend him instead of responding to Taylor personally, particularly his wife. Some of Taylor's close friends also liked a Perez Hilton post that claimed Karlie Kloss betrayed Taylor by sharing private information with Scooter so if that's true the "dirty work" could be a reference to that too. Also while my tears ricochet seems to be about a man that Taylor used to have a positive relationship with, there's nothing to suggest that the man in mad woman ever had anything good with Taylor. Also the part of the song that seems to reference gaslighting and spinning seems to be more applicable to Scooter, since he was often going on about how he wants nothing but the best for Taylor and her music and doesn't understand why she's upset at him, well at least that's what he said in public when he was catching flack, clearly she thinks that's all bulls**t. (and I think we briefly saw the mask come off when he liked that post from his friend about how he "bought Taylor Swift")

I agree that it’s about Daenerys though! Burn the whole city down

Shamelessly plugging a new series of edits I’m doing for folklore on my Twitter. First song is the 1 featuring a scene from Call Me By Your Name. I plan to do the entire album and am currently half way done... once I’m finished with the entire album I’ll edit it down into a single video.

I'm not expecting much more promotion from Taylor. I think she's probably satisfied with the success the album has seen so far (and she should be), so we'll be lucky to even get another single. And it's not really the type of music that is conducive to much chart success, so who even knows if releasing more singles would be worth it.
Shame though, because I still think "exile" could have done well.

betty has one too! I hope there is a new mv coming. exile is a good winter single choice and would work great with great mv. the album is expected to drop to #15 next week if they do not do anything about it this week. Yesssss praying this is true. That would be amazing to have videos for both singles and maybe why they waited so long. What if after exile and betty, they release the 1 to pop, my tears ricochet to AAA, and the last great american dynasty to country and we get vids for all of them. I would die!

Speak Now will always hold a special place in my heart. I became a fan during the Fearless era, but the first time I listened to Speak Now, I became a full blown Swiftie. I was completely floored that she wrote that album all on her own and that she was showing such immense growth. That album let the world know that Taylor was not just a fad, that she would be around for years and years to come. It’s crazy to me that she could’ve easily gone in a more pop direction after the success of Fearless but instead she chose to go the route of a more serious singer-songwriter album.
To this day, Speak Now is my 2nd or 3rd fav after Red and maybe folklore (too early to say). Highlights include... every song on the album! But the absolute best for me are Back to December, Dear John, Enchanted, and Long Live. I love that she decided to write really long, slow-paced, ballads for this album. I hope she revisits that style one day. I need more 5-7 minute Taylor tearjerkers.
Nothing but love for Speak Now ❤️

Speak Now is clearly a more pop direction compared to Fearless, and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. She kept getting poppier and poppier until 1989 was officially listed as a Pop album. Just because she wrote Speak Now by herself does not make it a serious singer-songwriter album. That type of album is folklore.

Just because she wrote Speak Now by herself does not make it a serious singer-songwriter album. That type of album is folklore. I'm talking about full on pop a la Max Martin singles on Red or 1989. Yes, Speak Now is a slightly more pop direction than Fearless but not dramatically so. In fact the album didn't have a single top 10 pop hit in the US. And also when did I imply that there is something wrong with her going in a pop direction? Speak Now was not pandering to a pop audience, it was made to showcase her ability to write superb lyrics and construct masterful songs. The album is still very much a country album. The only poppier song is "The Story of Us," everything else is more country and rock influenced. To further my point, the top 10 pop songs of 2010 were Tik Tok, Airplane, Bad Romance, Dynamite, California Gurls, In My Head, Break Your Heart, I Like It, Love the Way You Lie, and Cooler Than Me. Nothing on Speak Now sounds remotely close to any of those songs.

It is a singer songwriter album though, unless that also describes the production. If you strip back the glossy production, the album becomes a singer songwriter album in the vein of Folklore. It's not a full blown singer songwriter album, but it was a step in that direction.
