I've never listened to her albums prior to 1989, are they too country for my taste? Not really. They're not very electronic, but definitely not something a pop listener can't enjoy. Fearless is slightly pop rock with country influences, SN is full blown pop rock with country influences, and Red is folk pop with country and rock influences (bar We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together, I Knew You Were Trouble, and 22). They're really good albums, and you'll definitely enjoy listening to them because they're very well written while also being extremely catchy in terms of songs.

What? Speak Now is clearly a more pop direction compared to Fearless, and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. She kept getting poppier and poppier until 1989 was officially listed as a Pop album. Just because she wrote Speak Now by herself does not make it a serious singer-songwriter album. That type of album is folklore. It is a singer songwriter album though, unless that also describes the production. If you strip back the glossy production, the album becomes a singer songwriter album in the vein of Folklore. It's not a full blown singer songwriter album, but it was a step in that direction. So what exactly is the definition of a singer-songwriter album? Taylor wrote, sang, and accompanied every song on the album. How is that not singer-songwriter? I would argue folklore is less of a singer-songwriter effort because Taylor co-wrote most of the songs (as opposed to writing on her own) and the accompaniment was mostly done by someone else, not her.

neverduplicated @calmwaters3 I guess to me, singer-songwriter albums are typically more acoustic sounding/stripped down albums. It doesn’t have to mean an album is solely wrote by one person. It’s more or less a vibe. The production is what would set it apart. For example - again just how I view it: Ryan Adams’ 1989 is singer-songwriter type album, where as Taylor’s is pop (perfection). Also, neverduplicated, I just added that speak now being pop wasn’t a bad thing because I didn’t want you to think I was implying it was when disagreeing with you about it being a singer-songwriter album. ETA: www.udiscovermusic.com/stories/25-all-time-great-singer-songwriter-albums/ This is an example of what I think of when someone says singer-songwriter albums.

www.billboard.com/articles/business/chart-beat/9472635/taylor-swift-folklore-first-million-selling-album-2020/Taylor Swift's 'Folklore' Becomes First Million-Selling Album of 2020 in U.S.5:41 PM PDT 10/25/2020 by Keith Caulfield, Billboard Her last album, 'Lover,' was the only album to sell a million in the U.S. in 2019. As Taylor Swift’s Folklore album returns to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart for an eighth nonconsecutive week (on the chart dated Oct. 31), it also becomes the first album to sell a million copies in the U.S. in 2020. With another 57,000 copies sold in the U.S. in the tracking week ending Oct. 22 (according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data), Folklore’s total album sales jump past 1 million (to 1.038 million), making it the first album to sell a million copies in 2020. It’s also the first album released in 2020 to sell a million. Folklore was released on July 24 and debuted atop the Aug. 8-dated Billboard 200. Swift’s last album, Lover, released on Aug. 23, 2019, was the only album to sell a million in the U.S. in 2019. It sold 1.09 million that year, of its now-total 1.22 million. Folklore and Lover are the only albums released in 2019 and 2020 to sell a million copies in the U.S. Folklore is Swift’s ninth album to sell at least 1 million copies in the U.S. Those nine albums include all eight of her studio efforts, along with her Christmas release The Taylor Swift Holiday Collection. Here’s a look at all of Swift’s million-selling albums, in order of release: Taylor Swift (2006, 5.75 million sold to date), The Taylor Swift Holiday Collection (2007, 1.08 million) Fearless (2008; 7.21 million) Speak Now (2010, 4.71 million) Red (2012, 4.49 million) 1989 (2014, 6.25 million) Reputation (2017, 2.28 million) Lover (2019, 1.22 million) Folklore (2020, 1.04 million)

New RIAA certs: headlineplanet.com/home/2020/10/25/taylor-swift-receives-new-us-song-certifications-for-yntcd-me-lover-the-man-new-platinum-album-award-for-folklore/Taylor Swift Receives New US Song Certifications For “YNTCD,” “Me!,” “Lover,” “The Man,” New Platinum Album Award For “Folklore”by Brian Cantor about 12 hours ago The Grammy-winning sensation just received more hardware from the RIAA. As she celebrates a return to #1 on the Billboard 200, Taylor Swift picks up new certifications from the RIAA. Swift received new song certifications for “You Need To Calm Down,” “Me! (featuring Brendon Urie),” “Lover,” and “The Man” — the four radio singles from her 2019 album “Lover.” “You Need To Calm Down” hit the triple platinum mark, certifying 3 million in US units. Each unit is equal to 1 paid download or 150 streams. Swift additionally received 2x platinum awards for “Me!” and “Lover” (2 million), and a platinum certification for “The Man” (1 million). In addition to receiving new song certifications, Swift grabbed a platinum album certification for her 2020 release “folklore.” The album, which is celebrating an 8th week at #1 on the Billboard 200, attained platinum status in recognition of 1 million US units. Each unit is equal to 1 album sale, 10 track sales, or 1500 track streams. Of note: “folklore” would be eligible for the platinum award based on album sales alone. It officially crossed the 1 million US sales mark this week.

Aren’t there several album tracks from Lover that are eligible for gold certification? Why wouldn’t they certify those too?

The new RIAA certs make Taylor the #2 most-certified singles artist ever, passing Rihanna and trailing Drake

To clarify, I did that to see how many guitars she's selling. Currently the website automatically removed 44 of them from my cart and doesn't let me add back, so there's 156 left is what I'm assuming. The guitar shouldn't change much in terms of album sales, it appears.

I’ve been listening to mad woman all day and holy s**t, Taylor came for blood on that song. “Does a scorpion sting when fighting back? They strike to kill, and you know I will You know I will... Now I breathe flames each time I talk My cannons all firin' at your yacht They say "move on," but you know I won't The master of spin has a couple side flings Good wives always know She should be mad, should be scathing like me.” Literally exposed Scott’s cheating ass and vowed her revenge... Taylor is not a woman to be messed with. She wants to destroy the both of them and I’m here for it! YASS at this song finally getting its long overdue respect!!! one of the best tracks

I've never listened to her albums prior to 1989, are they too country for my taste? Self Titled and Fearless are her most yeehaw but have arious electronic influences here and there. Speak Now is more poppy and less country than the former two overall, but it still roots to country sounds in many of its songs. Red is her transition to pop and has so many great songs, I think it's my favortie album of hers.

She was getting so much heat for everything and people wanted her to fail. folklore has been a huge comeback for her and she seems to be back in good graces with the GP.

It was actually one of the few good single choices her last few albums. i will NEVER understand the reason for releasing ME! as a lead. yeah its cute as an album track but AS A LEAD???? imo, they could do Cruel Summer - mid May, it could give her the #1 and keep the momentum going for the next one (i dont like this song but GP vibes with it a lot) YNTCD - June and this one also could go to #1 release Lover(s) with the album sooner, let's say end of July because Lover had her longest album rollout after debut. (debut had 127 days, lover 119 days) this way she could have Grammy noms for CS and Lover(s) and also the album would get more attention cause ME! instantly killed the hype and they had to revive it for months.

On Apple Music (for example), the main album is under “other versions”.
