The only thing I was is that exile had been released in October and had its moment to shine. However, maybe Bon Iver asked for their songs not to be singles? That’s the only explanation as to why that epic song didn’t get the attention it deserves. My ONLY other qualm is that I hope this doesn’t overshadow her Grammy campaign. Wish this era would have ended along with the Grammys and then evermore in 2021 but I’ll take what we are given. Hoping I love it as much as folklore!!! Hopefully it puts her back in the spotlight and aids her chances. 5 months ago we thought we'd be getting the Cruel Summer single release and got Folklore instead. Then we thought we'd be getting the Exile single release and got Evermore instead. WHAT NOW?!

i wouldn’t necessarily count out exile being a full single. i think it would be a different story if she was moving out of the same universe, but this album seems very much still in the realm of folklore. kind of like how dua mentioned that she might return to og future nostalgia songs for singles after side b, i wouldn’t be utterly shocked if she came back to exile at some point. but it all depends how this album does, who knows maybe her new one with bon over is even better!

I’m not emotionally ready to move on from this, it feels so soon. But I will support our girl and listen with an open heart.

I plan on looking at folklore and evermore as two parts of a whole. Almost like two parts of a musical with a brief intermission. I don't think anyone needs to move on.

Any thoughts on Evermore’s sound? Taylor tweeted that it’s Folklore’s sister album so I’m curious what that sound will be like. The country stan in me really wants more stuff like Betty or August!! AAAHH so excited!! Folklore but slightly happier and angrier. Maybe a little more country? I am a psychic.

evermore is defffffinitely not happier lol.
Before I got to “happiness”, I thought, “with the way this album is going, watch it be something like “f**k happiness”. And of course there was a modern divorce song.

With the Grammys coming this Sunday... what song from this album do you think she will perform? She just came on GMA today and said it’s highly confidential and both Jack and Aaron will be a part of the performance. I smell.. the love trilogy???

She didn't mention Bon Iver and they're not included in the lineup, so I'll just assume we're not getting exile or evermore (I'd love the medley of these two though!). The way Taylor moved on from evermore makes me think she'll perform willow for the first and last time along with cardigan.

I think Taylor revealing that the two are involved gives us fans a hint that it’s very possible it’s the trilogy. I mean cardigan only involves Aaron, as with Willow... so it has to incorporate a select few of Jack’s work. And if it’s both of them...

They both performed every song with her for the pond sessions, so I don’t think it has to be the trilogy. It could just be “cardigan.”

Had a real moment with the long pond version of “illicit affairs” today. That song is so great, and so underrated on folklore.

It could just be “cardigan.” And in that vein, I kinda hope she performs evermore songs instead of folklore. I don’t know what she has in store for evermore but it’d be a big miss if she doesn’t perform at least some of those songs live.

I am speechless. I’ve gotten chills on three separate song’s so far. If she doesn’t win Album of the Year at the Grammys with this one, I will feel cheated. Giving myself some credit too

If she was only going to win one, this was the one it had to be. Truly an exceptional body of work and the defining moment in music in 2020.
I was hoping for the “trilogy” for the performance, but I’m also glad willow got some time to shine. Betty already had its spotlight at the ACA’s. August on a platform like this was perfection. It was a beautiful set.

It was so nice hearing august part of the performance! I was hoping there would have been a second song from evermore added in, like ivy or something.

Can we just applaud the fact that Taylor has released 9 albums in the span of 15 years. That’s more than an album every two years.... name another artist of her caliber that keeps their fans so well-fed... maybe Drake but that’s kind of it.

That’s more than an album every two years.... name another artist of her caliber that keeps their fans so well-fed... maybe Drake but that’s kind of it. The number of albums is impressive, but the length of the albums is even more impressive. Adding in original bonus and deluxe tracks (not acoustic versions or voicemails), her shortest album is 14 songs (debut) and the average length is 16.8 tracks, and this of course doesn't include the numerous soundtrack songs and other one-offs she has done (and the soon to be "from the vault" tracks). She is definitely one of the most prolific songwriters of her generation. ALSO CONGRATS TO TAYLOR ON HER 3RD ALBUM OF THE YEAR WIN! I feel the reaction to this is a bit muted considering everyone was expecting it and we're all so used to seeing Taylor win, but wow what an accomplishment!

I'm so happy for Taylor. Winning AOTY was the icing on the cake for Folklore, her best album yet period.
