Trollz was fun the watch. Nicki/6ix9ine vs. the industry... But we all know without Radio and Spoitfy placement, it wasn't going anywhere. Cardi has the general luxury of being added to Today's Top Hits right away, and played once an hour on the radio upon release. She gets the current "it" girl rapper (Smart move), coming off a #1 song with Beyonce... the hype is real. I would like to see Nicki get an organic hit, that's not fan or label fueled. Time will tell. Lol. The only hits Meg has had this year are with Beyoncé and Cardi...That should tell you something. Her records outside of they haven’t really done well streaming and chart wise. They promoted Meg’s last project as an album but when the sales weren’t there started calling it an EP instead. Cardi putting her on WAP is the same as Drake putting Lil Durk on his song. Mostly helped THEM, Cardi and Drake are already established artists. Anything they put out will be consumed regardless. There was a lot of anticipation over Cardi’s return, she could’ve had anyone on this record and it would’ve done well. Cardi has 3 diamond songs waiting to be certified with ILI, GLY, and BY. Trust me, she would’ve been fine. She’s used to this type of publicity: celebrities reposting and showing love, support and criticism both from media pundits and politicians on both sides of the aisle. She had brands using Gang lingo at one point, switching their Cs to Bs. Not sure a Meg song has ever received this type of reception before. This isn’t to hate on Meg because her verse is phenomenal but I’m not about to let this false take slide. We get it, you keep going to great lengths to present this notion that Cardi is as popular as ever and has never faltered, but to also downplay Megan's success and to say that she isn't also a current "it girl" of rap now, well that's rather ludicrous.

so how big of a role do we expect Pandora to play in Certified Lover Boy's debut? If it's his second biggest streaming platform across the board the streaming numbers for the album will be astronomical, possibly close to Scorpion's It won't play a huge role for full-lengths, but his singles tend to get big streams on there for the first 1 or 2 weeks. I'm guessing it's because they promote his new singles a lot when they're released. That's the thing with the streaming services, they all go out of their own way to promote Drake in an attempt to get record numbers. This is what happened with the infamous Spotify playlist cover takeover during Scorpion release week. He/his team didn't buy that like some stans would like to pretend. Multiple other artists would've done it also if it was simply obtainable by purchasing. They specifically wanted to outdo Apple Music's first numbers for Scorpion, which they didn't even end up doing. Everything about Scorpion's first-week for streaming services was rushing to the press with the highest numbers. It’s funny how any time an artist is promoted via a streaming service or radio station, the assumption is that they must have paid for it but people repeatedly fail to consider that these companies can also leverage these artists to help themselves too. When you have an in-demand artist releasing new music, you look for opportunities to use that new music to help sell your service. It’s like the Amazon Born This Way example when people assumed Gaga/Interscope must have made Amazon sell the album for 99 cents but Amazon instead sold it at a loss as a way to get new subscribers. Or when radio stations play the latest hyped single from a big-name-artist every hour.

I also imagine it’s similar to when Taylor gets huge promotion in Target/etc. I remember when I would go in Target during Taylor’s last album releases and they’d have her album tracks blasting in the electronics section of the store. It’s just simply a business knowing their biggest return on investment/profit and trying to maximize it. If you owned a CD store and there was 1 artist who just sold way more than every single other artist and gave you an incomparable profit obviously when they release it’d be smart to put up posters/cut outs/etc all over the store and attract sales, even if the label/artist didn’t even go out of their way to initiate advertising. It’s just maximizing profit.

How do you define “it” girl? Lol. I’m not going to great lengths actually, just pointing out relatively simple facts. You cannot claim Cardi fell off when she was still making hits prior taking a break to focus on her album. When she expanded her footprint and brand in 2019 more so than ever with partnerships with Reebok and Pepsi, a hit tv show, fashion line exclusives, acting gigs, etc. When her latest project, IOP, was the top selling female rap album in 2019 despite being released a year prior, she racked up the most streams, accolades, and hits. You cannot tell me that Meg is largely responsible for the success of the song when her own solo records and projects don’t sell that well. Her lproject, Fever, was marketed and promoted and called a LP...until it only sold 43k in its first week. Then her team called it a mixtape. The solo records she released this year haven’t done as well as one would expect given her internet popularity amongst black culture. My point was that Cardi did much more in less in terms of milestones and was just as popular as ever. So her record was going to do well regardless because there was a built up anticipation. People were clamoring for her to drop, waiting to see what the new lead single or the new era would sound like. If anything this helps Meg...who I would consider a high profile, regional artist in the sense that she’s popular largely amongst a specific demographic of consumers. Collaborating with a Beyonce or Cardi opens her up to an entirely new fanbase; exposes her to a more mainstream audience. Not sure that she’s ever been in a position of having politicians hate on her...but Cardi has. Conservatives poke at her all the time because she often speaks on politics and they know the level of attention a tweet from her can bring. I tell you what though. When Meg releases her “debut” album, lets start this discussion again. Let’s see how well it does and then continue this conversation. Let’s see if the internet popularity translates over into sales (it hasn’t in the past for her projects). Side note: No issue with Meg. Her voice was dope and she is doing her thing. Her star is on the rise. It is great to see another young black woman succeed. My main issue is with fans who are using this as yet another opportunity to discredit Cardi’s success.

Jesus Christ. Cardi has been at the top of her game since she first hit the chart a few years ago and is looking to continue. Megan just started and already has TWO number ones this year. Not sure what else needs to be said without all this diminishing bs being said over the last 17 pages. If you want to explain away Megan’s success as one of the biggest new names in music this year, keep at it but you might as well open a DM to yourself because no one’s listening.

Let’s hear it for the girls!!! ❤️💕 One good thing to note is that last 5 songs to debut at #1 in the Hot 100 have had women as lead artists.
On another note, this WAP is the seventh song to debut at #1 this year.

Let’s hear it for the girls!!! ❤️💕 One good thing to note is that last 5 songs to debut at #1 in the Hot 100 have had women as lead artists.
On another note, this WAP is the seventh song to debut at #1 this year.
great info 💕 I’m so looking forward for new female artists to make an impact in what’s left of 2020
