Drake has definitely oversaturated himself. He needs to stop dropping random s**t (loosies, mixtapes, features, etc.) every 5 minutes. Why tho? Drake shits hits like no tomorrow, he has never taken a formal break before and people still stream the f**k out of his songs no matter what. Obviously his audience doesn't care whether he's over saturated or not. It's not about the numbers, it's about giving new album the rollout it deserves.

Alright, so we're going to have twenty pages of discussion on Post Malone and Drake on this one, I see.

I think drake focusing on his next studio album is more important than releasing random mixtapes here and there and confusing singles. It's better for him, his fans and the general music listner in general

Haha, it's alright but he seems to just keep releasing the same generic version of the same song over and over again now with diminishing quality and the shtick is getting kind of annoying. I think this could be the start of the decline of Drake, but idk if you'd go that far. This would be reflected though by it's early showings on the charts, with a slow rise to #2 on AM now (yes it's only been less than 24 hours, but that doesn't seem great for someone like Drake), and only #14 on iTunes (whatever that means nowadays). He's actually #4 on iTunes, not that it matters. As for the slow rise on Apple Music, when you consider the fact that he's released 21 songs already this year, all to varying degrees of success, it shouldn't be all that surprising, no?
In 2018, he kicked off his year with God's Plan, the lead single off his album. This year, the lead single off his album is coming 21 songs later. I never expected a #1 debut or some historic chart slayage. He's pretty much exhausted all the hype he built up going into the year at this point. The best he can hope for with his latest single is that it's somewhat stable in the top 10 after it's debut. As for him releasing the same song over and over again, I vehemently disagree and I don't know why people like saying that when it's so blatantly false. His lastest song sounds nothing like Popstar, which sounds nothing like Greece, which sounds nothing like Twist & Turn, which sounds nothing like All I Need, which sounds nothing like Only You Freestyle. I could keep going, but I'm sure you get the point. Well, so much for trying to (semi) agree with you, and I see you're back to your regularly scheduled Drake stanning anyway, but you make an interesting point that because he has released so much music (not just this calendar year, or whatever variations of time segments or spacing), it has been a very large and consistent output very steadily for the past 11 years, hundreds of tracks in fact, so regardless of whether the songs are even good or not or whether they sound similar (I still disagree with you a bit on that, but it's subjective), people are going to get tired of him after a while and it seems like that's starting to happen now and that the decline will come soon. It happens to all artists, hearing the same flow, the same sound of voice, etc. I mean, what is your expectation, that he will just stay hot for decades and decades on end?

Post Malone doing Rock music is as hilarious as Travis Scott doing Contemporary R&B. π Good luck to those βRockβ songs thatβll have a sharper beat than any Hip-Hop song and a well-placed Guitar riff for good measure. #TheKingOfRock Given the enormous success he's had with the rock-leaning Circles and the fan favorite Take What You Want, it wouldn't be too surprising if he were to attempt a complete genre shift and indeed declare himself the next King of Rock.

It happens to all artists, hearing the same flow, the same sound of voice, etc. I mean, what is your expectation, that he will just stay hot for decades and decades on end? People have been saying Drake will fall off commercially for years now. That will never happen as abruptly as some of you believe. His method of constant releases has worked for him because he's seen more success than all his peers and he's established a streak of dominance that not a lot of artists can claim. He has more success than his peers who take breaks and return a few years later so is it that hard to understand why he doesn't "take a break"? There are artists in the past who maintained a longer streak of even more music releases so nothing he's doing is new. I agree with you on the point that there's definitely a limit to these things and oversaturation is definitely a real thing, but acts like Drake don't need to take years off to build up hype and anticipation for new music from both fans and casual listeners. He had the Views era in 2016 and released More Life less than a year later. About 9 months after, he returned with God's Plan and dominated the entire year in 2018 with his singles and his album like he didn't just drop 2 projects in the previous years. I personally don't need an album from him this year, but that's the opinion of 1 person. It's his art and he can release as much music as he wants whenever he wants. Sometimes, I think people forget just how gargantuan and borderline insatiable Drake's fanbase is. They're always down to consume more of his music. I believe that's been established over the last 11 years and for those who don't care for his seemingly unending music-release streak, a perfect and simple solution exists: don't listen.

For me he will have the career sales decline of Eminem. So another 3/4 years of dominance.

For me he will have the career sales decline of Eminem. So another 3/4 years of dominance. Eminem is 24 years in and is still scoring #1 albums, top 10 hits and is still pulling massive streams. Drake is only 11 years in and to be honest, there's no telling. He might be done next year or the year after that or might still be dominating 7 years from now. No one knows. Every career is different.

People said Drake was over saturated since like 2014. He was over saturated before Views and had officially peaked commercially with Take Care, he was over saturated after Views, he was over saturated after Scorpion. Yet heβs gotten a #1, #2, #3, #7, and #8 peaking song this year with probably another top 10 next week. Itβs as if he peaked at #25, #47, #74, and #96 or something with official singles this year with the way yβall act lol.
Some of you want his ride at the top to end so bad you just call it over at every angle that isnβt an absolutely incredible new level of smash success for him.

I'm not even fan of his recent output but to say that he is done commercially is some reach.

WAP still at #1 with 3.03 million streams on Spotify. Laugh Now Cry Later is #2 with 2.6 million. The biggest surprise has to be this new Morgan Wallen song - it garnered almost 2.3 million WTF

Insane streaming numbers for Morgan so far. Feels like a landmark moment for country music on streaming.
