For comparison, spins counts for Billboard: 2/3: 149 2/4: 8 2/5: 5 2/6: 5 2/7: 6
And dropped off from Billboard's Country Airplay chart.

His hometown station (which I assume must not be an Entercom, iHeart, or Cumulus station) put up a poll to let listeners decide whether or not the station should continue spinning him. Take a wild guess what the poll results were in a landslide. I assume there's like one or two other stations that are like this.

...this isn't really surprising though, is it? I feel like most of us underestimate just how passive most radio listeners are.

Not surprising. It’s been discussed a lot online, but internet chatter is rarely representative of the average media consumer, probably especially when it comes to the country radio audience.

I agree with cousingerard. I could be listening to country radio or streaming music with just about any of my family members and friends and they usually don’t even know who sings what songs. Also, people probably aren’t listening to country radio the entire day or following country music news so they may not realize they haven’t heard Morgan Wallen in a week or two on the radio. Us on Pulse are so used to being superfans that it is easy to forget how so many passively listen.

I'm curious to see what percentage of Country listeners reported they were unaware of his comments (it just says the "majority"). It suggests the album is holding up well because many people aren't even aware of the scandal, and his music hasn't been "banned" long enough for people to even notice his absence.. and not so much that it's the result of a counter-boycott. I think a lot of the uptick in streaming that propelled his music the week the scandal broke was due to curiosity listens from people who weren't very familiar with his music.

A lot of radio listeners are older and really don't engage in social media the way many of us do. The perfect example I can use, is my mom like maybe ~6-7 years ago now probably told me one day about the "new Trace Adkins song she heard on the radio" ... it was "Every Light in the House" from 1996. We also got in a little argument once a few years ago because she thought Lauren Daigle's "You Say" was a new Adele single and she didn't believe me when I told her it wasn't. Most of the people who listen to radio are very passive, indeed.

To be honest radio could start playing Morgan Wallen again right now and 99% of the ppl listening wouldn’t even notice. It goes in one ear and out the other.

I still love the new album! Not gonna lie. I understand what he did was wrong. How many country artists have probably said that word and never been caught? Plus was there even a black person in that video he was directing that word to? I’m not defending the man by any means. He’s doing his part getting help but I sure miss hearing him on the radio. He was gonna be a big star and now it seems it’s all went down the drain for him.

Please research why that word is NOT for white people's use. Period.

The past should not and will not be the past in this case, point blank period. That word is never going to be okay for any white person to use, and the consequences Morgan has received have been well deserved. If you miss hearing him on the radio, spin his records. Until he has shown he's changed for the better, he should not be on the radio and he damn sure should not be given any grace. The announcement of his being sober (which I have stated I was proud of, because I was--that's a hard thing to do, no matter what the vice is) seemed to be a promising start--and I hope that is the case, because it seemed he was starting to have a real problem with alcohol--so we'll see what comes from that. Remember though that even after he's shown he has genuinely changed, there will be a large percentage of people that will refuse to pay him any attention, and that will be 100% valid. There will be POC that will not forgive him, rightfully so, and that will be 100% valid. It's hard to reconcile something so horrible when it's your favorite artists, but sometimes you just have to reconcile it.

It amazes me in today's society how much people are willing to forgive when a white male says or does something offensive. I am sorry but if you miss Morgan Wallen's music you can play it your damn self.

What does being a male have anything to do with it? Someone needs to take the shovel away from you. The hole you dug yourself in is pretty deep right now.

What does being a male have anything to do with it? Men and especially white men in particular are the most forgiven types of people, and privileged types of people out there. See: People willing to forgive Morgan Wallen less than a month after he dropped the N Word.

In the words of Kelsea song “Past Should Be The Past” That's kinda the opposite of how I would've interpreted that if it were truly a "sign." It amazes me in today's society how much people are willing to forgive when a white male says or does something offensive. I am sorry but if you miss Morgan Wallen's music you can play it your damn self. Amen. I love his music and was enjoying his new album before the incident happened and while I've still played it some since then, my enjoyment of his stuff has definitely gone down quite a bit. His music doesn't belong on country radio right now at all, not until he's gone away for a bit and worked on his issues at the very least. Honestly though, imo maybe it's prob time to lock this one up since its been purged from country radio. People can discuss Morgan Wallen in other threads, but "7 Summers" is dead, so... sabre14 Kanenrá:ke
