How can someone be good at streaming or bad at streaming for that matter? If i like a song i will listen to it once/twice a day(the first week - untill i get bored of it), if i don't i won't stream it after the first listen. Fans aren't leaving their streaming platforms to run a single fuсking song 24/7 = well they are bad at streaming. I think that’s actually the problem, they get flagged as bots because they do that They should be flagged because they are behaving exactly like bots. They aren't really listening to the same song 200-300x a day. They turn it on - mute it, do other things, etc.

Also , you need at least 2 songs in between , you can’t listen to the song continuously in a row. BB will flag and remove that as bots

Wap: 48 mil streams (#1) 16k sales (#2)
Dynamite: 13 mil streams (#16) 136k sales (#1)
So if it wasn't for bts website sales, we'd be back in the teens for top seller. It'll be interesting to see how long BTS fans keep bulk buying on the website. Perhaps all the way until their next song? Hmm.

So this indirectly helps sales/radio. If they're going to go discontinue counting streams from user-uploads then they need to look into these bulk buying messes immediately. If a fan uploads an audio of a song on YouTube, and it gets 10 million views in a week, none of that counts despite people specifically went to that video to consume the song and it was tracked appropriately. Yet if a song is bought in 23 different versions from 1 person that should all count as popularity?

Mood showing the box level growth and it going number 1 before Savage Love would be crazy.

The biggest thing about this is Billboard is fully now going against the agenda THEY started.
Billboard decided to randomly add YouTube one-week and have Harlem Shake debut #1 with 100 million streams that almost entirely came from non-official video views.
Now this rule would've essentially removed all 100 million of those streams....

Horrible change. Lyric videos are the most popular upload of a bunch of songs, especially ones by indie artists who's channels are 10x smaller than the lyric channel that uploaded it. And sometimes the algorithm just prefers the lyric video and puts it first when you search for a song. This is really going to hurt organic hits by smaller artists, and for what? What makes unofficial uploads of full songs not a valid way of listening? Are people not watching with the intent of listening to the song? Actual bullshit.

Billboard just continually downweights YouTube like it's not a valid way of streaming. Likely pressure from the music industry because it doesn't generate much revenue compared to Spotify & AM.

They're changing how they count YouTube streams for the third time in two years.
However, stans buying 4 copies of the same song (and counting as 250 paid streams or 375 ad-supported streams) and radio using estimated numbers from two months ago (and counting as 35-40% of the chart points) is not a problem.
Note: Effective with this week's charts (dated Sept. 19), YouTube song UGC (user-generated content) will no longer factor into Billboard surveys. The removal of song UGC will align all streaming content among Billboard's songs and albums charts, and the newly-launched Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. songs charts, to include only official audio and video streams. The change follows the removal of non-song UGC video content from the Hot 100 and other songs charts in January and will result in minimal changes in rank, especially in the top half of the Hot 100.
If they want to align their charts... why don't they remove website sales (like they did with the global charts)?

Most weeks in the top 5 27 weeks Shape Of You Closer Blinding Lights Hope it gets the record proper. Don't want such a great song to share the record with two incredibly mediocre ones.
