This should be doing better. Radio has been cruel to Miley. First Midnight Sky and now this.

This puritanical hate-on for Miley lately is such bulls**t.

Radio always hated her to some degree when you realize it lol, it just got increasingly worse and more apparent Its says something when in a span of 3-4 years that Dua already attained more #1's on pop radio and the same number of top 10 peaks on radio as well

Yeah itβs crazy to think sheβs only had 5 top 10s on pop. But sheβs got 15 years as a actress/singer/public figure which is about how long other Disney divas (Britney, Christina, etc) got in the spotlight, so itβs not too surprising. Itβs just unfortunate that she never truly got her βbig eraβ like she deserves.

Bangerz was her big era. They just wasted it by picking "Adore You" third. People wanted the more upbeat stuff.

I think Iβm just annoyed that radio is willing to take not one or two, but THREE Justin Bieber songs to the Top 20 with ease (and two of them being Top 4 right now)...before anyone says the power of Scooter, itβs still unfair and shows how corrupt radio is. Especially when these songs arenβt even smashing or connecting with the audience that much...Midnight Sky had fantastic callouts/reception and yet they werenβt willing to take it further than #15. I thought this could fare minimum Top 20 since Dua was on it, so Iβm a little surprised itβs about to miss it.
If anything Prisoner deserves to peak higher than Swan Song. Warner, please put forth some payola youβve planned for Levitating to push this above #19!

I don't want to take away from the point being made but it kinda bothers me every time someone brings up the "Midnight Sky had great callout!!" argument, because context is important to that statement - which is that it had great callout on HAC, but it never made callout on Pop. We'll never know which way it got screwed by pop radio (either because it was doing similarly well on Pop callout, or because pop audiences actually did reject it).

I don't think there's any point in having a third single for US radio. Anything else isnβt going to do it if this and "Midnight Sky" couldn't.

As much as Iβd love for Plastic Hearts to be a single, I think their only hope is to switch things up and go with a ballad: Angels Like You.

The album still has a lifeline (still #28 on Billboard), but it hasn't been so popular that the songs are already known and being consumed. Angels Like You and Plastic Hearts are, based on the response, some of her strongest material since Bangerz. It'd be a shame to waste both of them

Agreed. The iron is as hot as itβs going to be from here on out right now. May as well push something while they can because in a month from now, itβll be too late.
I also wonder if theyβd be better off playing the retro angle harder and going for the Billy Idol collab. Radio isnβt likely to play whatever comes next so may as well try to garner some buzz through other means and continue with what she gained through the live covers that came out last fall.

It'd be a shame to waste both of them I like both of those songs, but I don't agree about her being at a "perfect" point for a third single when the first two (and arguably the two most radio friendly songs on the album) haven't charted super well on US radio. Maybe she could throw one of them out as a single internationally, but I feel like a third US single wouldn't do much considering this didn't go Top 20.

The album is really good, the fans like it, thereβs single-worthy tracks still on it (including the original planned first single), and ainβ nothinβ else goinβ on. So, yeah, release a third single. Stupid not to.

I disagree with Prisoner being one of the most radio-ready tracks. Save for the Dua Lipa feature, Angels Like You and Plastic Hearts are much better choices.
I'd go with title track tbh.
