Good for him hitting #1 again, but can this one please not spend 3 more weeks at #1 and another 2 months in the top 10? I need them to move on to something better and faster this time. This song is just so grating.

Columbia Nashville is going for max spins through February 7th, which means “Better Together” could end up being a 4-week #1 on Billboard Country Airplay. It’s at least going to spend 3 weeks atop Billboard and 2 atop Mediabase.
“Happy Does” will push January 31st-February 7th as well, so maybe Kenny only gets the Mediabase #1. You can definitely chalk up another multi-week #1 for Combs though.

I’m glad to see the label won’t shorten this one’s chart run to rush out “Forever After All”. “Better Together” is a big hit on its own merit, and a 3-4 week span at #1 sounds about right. It’s the perfect type of winter ballad Nd has been connecting extremely well since being released in late 2019.

Yeah as much as I do not like this song, this deserves multiple weeks at #1 and if it blocks Kenny Chesney from hitting #1 that is fine by me since "Happy Does" doesn't deserve #1 at all

This is one of 3 Combs singles I don’t like (the others being “Does to Me” and “One Number Away”), but I’m still glad to see it likely to spend a few weeks at the top. Chesney’s “Happy Does” is one of the worst singles he’s released and it’s the biggest non-event top 10 I’ve ever seen (it’s seriously not even in the top 600 on iTunes), so I really hope Luke blocks Kenny. The next worthy #1 contenders, Kelsea and Darius, are still 11-12 million behind Luke on Mediabase, and Niko Moon is almost 20 million behind.
It’s a pretty soft top 10, so it’s only natural and fitting that Luke is poised to take advantage of it.
Also, somewhat of a tangent here, but I feel that Luke Combs is more popular than guys like Blake Shelton, Luke Bryan, and Jason Aldean ever were. Combs’ rise to superstardom - including 10 straight career-opening No. 1 hits, several of which spent many weeks at the top - has been nothing short of meteoric.

I would say Luke Combs is about as popular as Luke Bryan was in 2013-2014 (aka Crash My Party era ). But I overall do agree with most of what you say, and it is kind of insane to me how popular Luke Combs is and how fast this rise took place. Like even FGL by single 10 ("Confession") were starting to wane a bit in terms of popularity. I think there is a strong case that Luke Combs is the face of the country music genre at this point more than most others.

Luke Bryan was definitely huge in that timeframe (and he's still undoubtedly an A-lister), but he never reached the same levels of dominance that Combs has seen in both sales (singles and albums) and streaming (obviously streaming wasn't very big even a few years ago, but the sales comparison still stands). Furthermore, Combs' longevity with his album sales, and his staying power regarding his radio singles, is simply unmatched. I've never witnessed someone so consistently dominate the top of the Country Airplay chart the way Combs has, and the same goes for the Top Country Albums chart. Combs' album This One's For You spent a record-tying 50 weeks at #1 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart, and, as we all know, he's started his career with 10 consecutive #1 hits on Country Airplay. While it's true that Luke Bryan once had 13 chart-toppers in a row and Shelton strung together 17 straight #1s, two of Luke Bryan's more popular tunes, "Country Girl (Shake It For Me)" and "That's My Kind Of Night" couldn't overcome less than stellar callout to reach #1, and ended up peaking at #4 and #2, respectively. At this point, it's hard to imagine a Luke Combs single stalling at #2 or lower. I know it'll happen someday, but it could be a few years in all honesty. The biggest indicator of Combs' dominance, in my opinion, is that 9 of his 10 #1 hits (every single except "One Number Away") have been multi-week #1 hits: - "Hurricane" (2 weeks)
- "When It Rains It Pours" (2 weeks)
- "One Number Away" (1 week)
- "She Got The Best Of Me" (4 weeks)
- "Beautiful Crazy" (7 weeks)
- "Beer Never Broke My Heart" (2 weeks)
- "Even Though I'm Leaving" (5 weeks)
- "Does To Me" featuring Eric Church (2 weeks)
- "Lovin' On You" (4 weeks)
- "Better Together" (1 week and counting)
We all know that, over the last several years, it's become increasingly difficult to spend more than 1 week at #1 on Billboard (and especially Mediabase lol). We have a handful of 2-weekers on Billboard each year and the occasional 3-weeker, but 4+ weeks was becoming unheard of and Combs has done it four times already over the span of just two albums.
Luke Combs is definitely the biggest name in country music right now, with Morgan Wallen right there as well (Wallen I think will successfully solidify himself with the singles from his new album).

I’m not sure about the comparison. Luke is big because of streaming. The music industry has totally changed. If people were buying his album it would be a one and done, and that many unique purchases probably wouldn’t be made to boost his album to the top for 50 weeks. He broke Shania‘s record, right and she’s an international star who everyone knew even if you didn’t listen to country.
He also doesn’t have the touring #s or charisma/stage presence. Like, yes, he’s huge for how people consume music now, but that doesn’t mean he could do it 5 years ago like Luke or 30 years/ whatever ago like Garth.
Frankly, I find his radio dominance more of an indictment of radio than an example of how awesome he is. They’re not treating Wallen the same way and his streaming #s warrant better if they’re all being judged on the Combs scale.
He’s very niche.

I'd have to imagine "Forever After All" will be the next (and probably final) single right? Just seems like a huge hit waiting to happen; especially considering the success it's already seen so far.

His first album issued a total of five singles, and "Better Together" is currently the fifth single from this album. The deluxe edition is still pretty new however, so I could see "Forever After All" becoming the sixth and final single before he moves on to his third album around Q4 of this year. A lead around CMA time, with the album release timed for the 2022 ACMs perhaps?

Once again though, Luke Combs has a huge hit that radio won't let go of in a hurry so I am sure they'll probably milk this one and FEA won't be released until at least March.

I am officially getting tired of this song, but radio and other fans still love it as it is spending its 4th week at #1 on Billboard Country Airplay, 2nd week at #1 on Hot Country Songs, 3rd week at #1 for Mediabase. YEP, this is a big hit!

This is his 4th song to have 4 weeks at 1. Im thinking only Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw and Toby Keith have had 4 or more songs spend that many weeks at #1 in the Airplay era but I’d have to look when I get home. If “Forever After All” indeed ends up being the next single, I could see it being another multi week smash.
