^^^ SLR only sold 8 units per transaction and for a while funding bases were only funding 1 of each. Nobody saw this coming with Dynamite so π€·πΎββοΈ 8 units per transaction but Billboard or whoever tracks them only counted them as 1, right?

For once I actually want Dynamite to be #1 so that BTS doesn't get another fraudulent #1 "hit" You know what I prefer Dynamite to be #1 instead of that opportunistic Jason Derulo Lol

Travis Scott's last 3 #1 "hits": Highest in the Room: debuted at #1, dropped to #6 the following week.
The Scotts: debuted at #1, dropped to #12 the following week.
Franchise: debuted at #1, dropped to #25 the following week.

You could buy up to 4 units of both versions just like every other artist website. They sold the instrumental too

Three BTS members have gotten a #1 for their birthdays. The chart for their new album comes out the week of another members birthday and then the year closes with another memberβs birthday. Theyβre going to gift them all #1 singles.

However, I donβt know if Billboard credit Dionne Warwick, Elton John, Gladys Knight & Stevie Wonder individually or if itβs actually credited as βDionne & Friendsβ? π€ Billed under "Dionne & Friends", but counts as a #1 for all 4 acts. So yeah Elton had a #1 in the 80's. Rod Stewart, however, skipped the 80's, from "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?" in '79 to "All for Love" in '94. Plus the Beach Boys ("Good Vibrations" '66 - "Kokomo" '88) and Aretha Franklin ("Respect" -67 - "I Knew You Were Waiting" '87) skipped the 70's. All I can think of for decade-skippers. Ah, good old days where ageism wasn't as blatant as it is today.

The official billing was "Dionne And Friends" but I've seen him credited for it in various places. Not sure what Billboard's current standing on it is for Elton, Stevie, and Gladys.

It's kinda funny that Franchise & Savage Love both got to #1 with bulk buying but *technically* neither topped Digital Songs.

Kinda crazy to think that BTS will end 2020 with three number ones... and the third one will be in Korean. Insane. What third single?

Assuming the two 21 Savage songs fall out of the top ten next week, and not counting Christmas hits, 27 songs this year have spent only a single week in the top ten, including 4(!) number ones. 5 more top 3 hits spent only two weeks and another number one logged only three weeks. These songs cover rap, pop, dance, and country so it's not genre specific. An indication perhaps that singles are becoming increasingly front-loaded?

Eventually it could endup like albums, where it is rare that a #1 rose to the top instead of debut there. (None so far in 2020 btw)

So, despite being number one in streams with a +12M lead to the #2 song, #WAP is forced to sit in at #3?
The Hot 100 is an absolute F*CKING embarrassment!
These βsalesβ will continue to manipulated and streaming will be forced to take a backseat.

The majority of songs that spent 1 week top 10 are essentially album tracks (Juice WRLD, Lil Uzi, Pop Smoke, Taylor, etc album bombs) that were never fully pushed at radio, so no they don't speak on singles being frontloaded. Besides bundles, I think a lot of singles had short runs in top 10 this year because radio played the same 5 songs the entire year. Some songs had steady runs in top 20/top 30 after leaving top 10, and could've returned had they actually gotten real traction at radio.

(None so far in 2020 btw) And oddly, the top ten of the BB200 has slowed down dramatically thanks to streams. While streaming has produced some one week wonders on the Hot 100 (mostly albums cuts from anticipated hip hop records) the rapid turnover has largely been powered by sales. A peculiar state of affairs in 2020.

A lot of effort seems to be going into maximizing hype for the first week is all I'm saying. It's felt very deliberate this year.

If people buy music, itβs buying music. Music is made to be consumed whether it be by streams, sales, radio etc. Armys have strong buying power and theyβre capable of getting them number ones now that the fandom is larger in the US. Iβm expecting another 1.

Crazy that this is only Jason's second Hot 100 #1, following "Whatcha Say". "Talk Dirty" comes to mind as a Jason Derulo song that should have gone to #1. It was everywhere in 2014, and it heralded the trend of saxophone-driven hooks in pop songs like "Problem" and "Worth It". Not to mention it is by far the better song. (though "Want To Want Me" is definitely his best hit)
