Bryson Tiller debuted with 6.3 million, which is pretty decent considering that it's a short album. I see him debuting with 80k-100k, 21 with 180k-200k.

I'm surprised the internet hasn't collectively decided to cancel that word considering its negative definition throughout history.

Glad Bryson's album is getting such great numbers. I've never especially been a fan (not that I disliked him, but I only knew his handful of hits) but his new album is really good.

Early early early projection. POSITION | CHG | SONG | TOTAL PTS | 1 | | Savage Love | 36,353 | 2 | | Dynamite | 27,933 | 3 | | WAP | 25,350 | 4 | | Mood | 24,200 | 5 | | Blinding Lights | 23,350 | 6 | | Laugh Now Cry Later | 22,833 | 7 | NEW | Mr. Right Now | 21,800 | 8 | | Rockstar | 21,653 | 9 | NEW | Runnin | 20,050 | 10 | | I Hope | 19,233 |
- All "Savage Love" needs is about 35k sales to go #1. It'll obviously be done. - Seems like "Mood" is out the race for #1 at this point (bar something unforeseen happening). It has already peaked in streams, and struggling to reach 250 points leaves ease for BTS stans to continue getting #1 and will make it pretty easy for a new single by an A-lister to debut #1 and have a run there. - 21 Savage could have two top 10 debuts. "Mr. Right Now" w/ Drake seems to have the lead in streams of all the songs so far. - Currently have "Franchise" at 12,733 (127 points). That'll be a fall outside the top 25.

Megan thee Stallion & Beyonce, BLACKPINK, Jason Derulo & BTS, 21 Savage have all profited off the use of the word in the last year... I understand that it is not on the same level as other slurs, but i'm surprised that people pay no mind to how casually it is used, most of the time it literally could be replaced with any other word ('Savage Love' and 'Pretty Savage' especially, could have went with any other word)

Most people when they hear something was "savage", it's more akin to "slay". Also bias here but for me at least, 'she/he/they/I was a savage' is cooler to read and say than 'she/he/they/I slayed'

The complete exclusion of UGC is to be blamed for the weak chart we are having right now (which gives stan-driven songs a much easier time to snatch NO.1, shock). WAP lost about 10% (partial UGC weighting)/25% (Full UGC weighting used in 2019) of its points during the last two weeks due to this stupid rule change. Also it doesn't help that it's already October and no major artists would release their project during this time of the year...(Drake, where is your album )

I think in this case, a lot of people - especially the gay community - has helped reclaim the word and any negative connotations associated with it. Most people when they hear something was "savage", it's more akin to "slay". Also bias here but for me at least, 'she/he/they/I was a savage' is cooler to read and say than 'she/he/they/I slayed' But it's not their word to reclaim. Colonists called Indigenous peoples from America the word. this is a very interesting subject I'm not educated enough about. I've never even thought about the way "savage" is used in the Declaration of Independence when the word started popping up in pop culture. The word does have a complicated history and etymology. I haven't heard any Indigenous people around me bring this up, but I'm curious to look for some resources. before I do much of that, it sounds like the word "barbarian" or "barbaric" (which was mainly used by Greeks as a slur against Turks) for example, which is still in use with its original meaning today. "savage" seemingly lost its pejorative tone, and lost its original meaning completely, as it's derived from the word "of the woods" in Latin. just my initial thought. thanks for bringing this up!

Is BTS going to be credited for Savage Love though? I know it's getting a big sales boost but streams have surprisingly been underwhelming.

To me, the word βsavageβ reminds me of 2016 when everyone was like βOMG ROASTED π₯΅π₯΅slay me what a SAVAGEEβ but also the song from Pocahontas βSavages! savages!β Very multifaceted word
