As I said, it's time for the next reminder! We're now three weeks away from the December 18 deadline. I know it's still Thanksgiving weekend, and now that it's Black Friday the holiday shopping season has begun...which means there's a lot of mayhem that's likely happening in the next three weeks, but remember to set aside about 70 minutes sometime in the next three weeks to listen to all this music and send a list if you plan on participating! Gonna go ahead and tag a couple fellow Carrie diehards: carrieidol1 daddy fisherwoodcu Please note: No extensions will be given for this rankdown, as the due date is already strategically placed such that the results can be finished revealing on the night of Christmas Eve. Hi y'all! Now that it's December 4, Thanksgiving is over, and we're well into the holiday season by now, it seems like the perfect time to get into the spirit. Have you started a 7-day free trial of HBO Max yet? If not, then do so!! This way, you're able to watch My Gift: A Christmas Special From Carrie Underwood and get into the holiday spirit. Then you can go and give this rankdown a spin! If you haven't put up your Christmas decorations yet, this rankdown is the perfect reason to do so! We're now two weeks away from the deadline and I have a very nice head start of 9 lists. Even for a Christmas rankdown, that's an incredible turnout! I realize this is holiday music and nearly all of it is for Jesus, so I know I won't get the 38 lists that showed up for the Carrie Underwood 2.0. But I'd like to retain as much of that 38 as possible, so if you're even remotely interested, please consider sending a list! Do any of my fellow CU fans/diehards wanna join in on this? carrieidol1 desertfloods neally Caviar daddy bornfearless2000 Caviar Dreams Active Aggressive Me. I Am l!nk!nfan815... Happy Holidays, everyone! Today's the deadline for this rankdown! I have received two more lists since Wednesday, bringing me to 18! I can't recall seeing a country Christmas rankdown with such a turnout! I'm very pleased y'all have joined in for the Christmas cheer! Can we make it to an even 20 though? ;) If you haven't joined in and would like to, you have until the end of the day. There will be no extensions. Like, not even an extra day. I realize that might seem harsh, but this rankdown's deadline was set so that I can gather the data tomorrow and start reveals on Sunday, finishing on the night of Christmas Eve. This is truly your LAST CALL!Hark! The Herald Angels Rank:1. taylor2. 14887fan3. tim4. schnetzka5. fisherwoodcu6. Kris Kringle7. dgarcia33778. wrip9. Her Gift: the Carrie Underwood Christmas Rankdown: It's Results Time!As I hoped, we managed to make it to an even 20 lists! I'm incredibly pleased with that turnout, as it's unheard of for a country Christmas rankdown! I plan on compiling the data through Saturday and then beginning in earnest on Sunday night! Final Participant List (20):1. taylor2. 14887fan3. tim4. schnetzka5. fisherwoodcu6. Kris Kringle7. dgarcia33778. wrip9. Some prediction questions to get us started: 1. What will be #1?
2. What will be #19?
3. What will comprise the Top 5? Bottom 5?
4. Which song will be most polarizing? Least?
5. Which collaboration (John Legend, Michael W. Smith, Elvis Presley) will do best? Worst?
6. How will King Isaiah Fisher do?!
7. Which version of O Holy Night will do better, 2008 or 2020?
8. Which of the originals ("Hallelujah," "Sweet Baby Jesus," "Let There Be Peace," "Favorite Time of Year") will do best? Worst?
9. Any other thoughts/predictions?

1. What will be #1? It’s possible that “Favorite Time of Year” just might sweep this!
2. What will be #19? “Little Drummer Boy”
3. What will comprise the Top 5? “Favorite Time of Year”, “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing”, “Let There Be Peace”, “Do You Hear What I Hear”, and “O Holy Night” (2020 version)
Bottom 5? “Little Drummer Boy”, “Sweet Baby Jesus”, “I’ll Be Home for Christmas”, “Mary, Did You Know”, “Away in a Manger”, and maybe something like “All Is Well” (although I hope not)
4. Which song will be most polarizing? Hmm…let’s go with “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” or “Let There Be Peace” Least? “Favorite Time of Year’
5. Which collaboration will do best? John Legend Worst? Elvis Presley
6. How will King Isaiah Fisher do?! He may not survive the bottom 2
7. Which version of O Holy Night will do better, 2008 or 2020? I’m going to give the edge to the most current version (and I’m glad both were included!)
8. Which of the originals will do best? “Favorite Time of Year” Worst? “Sweet Baby Jesus”
9. Any other thoughts/predictions? It's always quite hard to predict how these Christmas rankdowns are going to go so take everything above with a grain of salt. There's one song that has grown on me a bit more and I'd certainly rank it a bit higher now, but I'll wait until it's revealed as I'm wondering if it falls more on the polarizing side of the spectrum. Excited to see how this goes especially considering what a great turnout this was for a holiday rankdown.

1. What will be #1? I’m stuck between “Favorite Time of Year” and the 2020 version of “O Holy Night.” I’m going to give the edge to “Favorite Time of Year.”
2. What will be #19? “Let There Be Peace”
3. What will comprise the Top 5? Bottom 5? Top 5: “Favorite Time of Year,” “O Holy Night (2020),” “O Holy Night (2008),” “Mary, Did You Know?,” “ Do You Hear What I Hear” Bottom 5: “I’ll Be Home For Christmas,” “JJWAT,” “What Child Is This?,” “Away in a Manger,” “Let There Be Peace”
4. Which song will be most polarizing? Least? For most polarizing, I think “Little Drummer Boy.” Obviously a gem of a song and absolutely precious, but a lot of people will probably rank it in different spots on their rankdowns. For least, I think the 2020 version of “O Holy Night.”
5. Which collaboration (John Legend, Michael W. Smith, Elvis Presley) will do best? Worst? John Legend for best, and Elvis Presley for worst.
6. How will King Isaiah Fisher do?! I want little Isaiah to do well, but I think he’ll probably be lower in the list.
7. Which version of O Holy Night will do better, 2008 or 2020? 2020, but I adore both versions!
8. Which of the originals ("Hallelujah," "Sweet Baby Jesus," "Let There Be Peace," "Favorite Time of Year") will do best? Worst? I think “Favorite Time of Year” will do best, and “Let There Be Peace” will do the worst.
9. Any other thoughts/predictions? I’m excited to see the results! I’m still happy with my personal rankdown, but there is definitely one song I listed lower that I would want to move up with more and more time! If “FTOY” is the #1 song, Carrie needs to take that as a sign for next Christmas in order to have it reach its full potential!

1. What will be #1? Favorite Time of Year.
2. What will be #19? The Elvis collab.
3. What will comprise the Top 5? Bottom 5? Top 5: FToY, Joyful, Joyful, O Holy Night (2020), Hallelujah, and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas. Bottom 5: Little Drummer Boy, Hark! the Herald Angels Sing, I'll Be Home for Christmas, What Child Is This, the last one I'd say either All Is Well or Sweet Baby Jesus.
4. Which song will be most polarizing? Least? Most: Let There Be Peace. Least: I'll Be Home For Christmas.
5. Which collaboration (John Legend, Michael W. Smith, Elvis Presley) will do best? Worst? Best: Legend. Worst: Presley.
6. How will King Isaiah Fisher do?! Bottom 5 (maybe 3). Not that he isn't adorable.
7. Which version of O Holy Night will do better, 2008 or 2020? 2020.
8. Which of the originals ("Hallelujah," "Sweet Baby Jesus," "Let There Be Peace," "Favorite Time of Year") will do best? Worst? Best: Favorite Time of Year. Worst: I think it could be "Sweet Baby Jesus," simply because the others probably had at least some posters who ranked them high, wheras I imagine SBJ is probably around the middle of the majority of lists.
9. Any other thoughts/predictions? Listening to those first Christmas songs she did, you can tell how much she's grown as a vocalist since then. I think that growth happened most when she worked on The Sound of Music--and it makes the Christmas album even greater than it would've been if she'd released it years back.

1. What will be #1? I'd say Favorite Time of Year, or maybe Hallelujah. Those seem to be the most popular.
2. What will be #19? All Is Well or I'll Be Home, or maybe something random like What Child Is This.
3. What will comprise the Top 5? Bottom 5? Top: FTOY, H, OHN (2020), DYHWIH (nostalgia I think will help that one more than the other CR bonus tracks), and maybe SBJ. Bottom: WCIS, AIW, IBHFC, LTBP, and maybe something like The First Noel?
4. Which song will be most polarizing? Least? Most: Probably Little Drummer Boy based on the above predictions. Least: Favorite Time of Year.
5. Which collaboration (John Legend, Michael W. Smith, Elvis Presley) will do best? Worst? I'm not a fan of either the Presley or the Smith ones, so the Legend one will do best (hopefully). If I had to guess, I think All is Well will do slightly better than IBHFC.
6. How will King Isaiah Fisher do?! Hopefully top 5! But realistically lower top 10, upper top 15 maybe? Somewhere in the middle.
7. Which version of O Holy Night will do better, 2008 or 2020? Personally, I ranked the 2008 version higher simply because I'm more familiar with it. But I think the 2020 version will do a bit better.
8. Which of the originals ("Hallelujah," "Sweet Baby Jesus," "Let There Be Peace," "Favorite Time of Year") will do best? Worst? Best: Favorite Time of Year. The selfish part of me thinks that really should've been on the main album. I get what she was going for, but meh. I do feel I underranked this a bit because it wasn't on the album. Worst: Let There Be Peace, for sure. ear, 9. Any other thoughts/predictions? I think it's extremely hard to predict this rank down, and like I said earlier I had a really hard time doing this rank down in the first place even.
I do think, because of the fact that My Gift is so much newer than everything else, that the older songs are probably not going to do as well as they would have had we waited like a year to do this rank down. I think if we were to redo this rank down this time next year, some of the My Gift songs would probably do worse than they will do this year.

I didn’t do this but I have heard every song on it just by listening to Christmas music in recent weeks. A solid album, “Favorite Time of Year” Is probably my favorite.

1. Oh Holy Night (2020)
2. I’ll be home
3. Top: Oh holy (2020), hallelujah, favourite time, silent night, do you hear. Bottom: joyful, I’ll be home, oh holy (2008), hark, what child is this.
4. Joyful, Joyful
5. Best: hallelujah, worst: I’ll be home
6. Top 10 finish
7. Oh Holy Night(2020)
8. Best: Hallelujah. Worst: Let there be peace
9. This was a hard list for me to send in and sit with. Excited to see the results and how different people’s tastes are in holiday musics.
ETA - I think my list may ruin a few of these predictions 😶

Okay, I just have to say, I am absolutely FLOORED to see people predicting "All Is Well" to be in bottom 5, let alone LAST PLACE! I honestly came into this thing expecting it to be an easy top 5 contender based on how people have always fawned over it on Pulse Like, have the people predicting it to be in the bottom 5 not paid any attention at all through the years?

There has never been a version of "All Is Well" that I have liked and this version is no different so I personally hope it is bottom 5. As for "I'll Be Home For Christmas" with Elvis. I'm shocked it is last place as I liked it and thought it sounded good (though not as good as Martina with Elvis tbh)

I expected the Elvis collaboration to be the first of the three to exit. I'm also not really surprised to see it be the first song to leave either as I'd have to guess that Elvis isn't someone that Pulse gravitates towards anyways. I happen to be a fan not just of him but especially of his Christmas music as I revisit his holiday albums every year. I was actually just listening to this song again earlier today while I was baking pies and love how they were able to infuse his vocals with more modern day vocalists such as Carrie.

To the disappointment of castleoblivion26, the first collab to leave is actually the Elvis Presley collab "I'll Be Home For Christmas." This comes from the 2008 album Christmas Duets, which was released by RCA Records. This song, like all but three songs on the record, was done by taking archival footage of Elvis' vocals and inserting Carrie's vocals into them as well, over an entirely new instrumental arrangement. This version of "I'll Be Home For Christmas" has charted on the Billboard country list, peaking at #54. This song was predicted as the worst performing collab of the bunch and certainly proved to do so, with four perfect rankings and only four total Top 10s. Nearly everyone had this in their bottom 5! I love Carrie's vocals on this song, but the song itself doesn't hold a candle for me to some of the other incredible tunes in this list. I do also happen to be partial to the versions of this song by Cam, and the acapella rendition by Rascal Flatts.

"I'll Be Home For Christmas" is a very fitting last place. This entire Elvis Christmas Duets album is just soooooo different from all of these guest artist's usual output, it doesn't ever compare very well amongst their catalogs.
My biggest problem with the Elvis album is that he has such a unique vocal styling, nobody really matches him all that well or sounds very good beside him. Martina with "Blue Christmas" definitely does the best job, but it's still just an album that always feels uncharacteristically mismatched to me.
On top of that, "I'll Be Home For Christmas" is one of the more boring Christmas songs in general, so goodbye!
Now let's say goodbye to the autotuned child duet next!!

I actually think Gretchen Wilson more or less holds her own on "Merry Christmas Baby". The only issue I have with it is that it's over 8 minutes long...why?!
