Well this is an unusually good start for me. I might be more receptive to AIAM if it was in the same tune that I'm used to.

"All is Well" has always been a great song in my opinion! I am surprised by the number of people expecting it to get voted out so quickly because Carrie serves amazing vocals on that song! The performance of the song at CMA Country Christmas back in 2014 was beautiful too. I am not too shocked by the results so far though!

Well, this RD is already cancelled. Why I do these Xmas RDs I do not know. "What Child Is This?" is my favorite Christmas song, so it's pretty much always guaranteed to be my #1 in any Xmas RD its in. Carrie's is fantastic. However, Crystal Gayle has my favorite rendition of the song

Very surprised to see "Little Drummer Boy" avoid the bottom 3! I just couldn't get into it. "What Child Is This?" is a way better song

Started off with two perfect rankings and then despite being on the higher end of ranks for "What Child Is This?" I'm not terribly upset nor surprised to see it out earlier as well. So, a solid start imo.

Leaving first tonight is the second of four collabs. "All Is Well," featuring Michael W. Smith, is taken from Smith's 2014 holiday album The Spirit of Christmas. It's an album of duets, many of them with country artists. Some other country artists featured on the album include Jennifer Nettles, Vince Gill, and Martina McBride. The song started out in the Top 10 during the submission process, and picked up steam early on, making it as high as #3, before the lower ranks started to come in and push it out of the Top 10 altogether midway through. It was never able to withstand the onslaught, and finished just outside the bottom 3. I am not a fan of Smith's vocals in this, but Carrie's are divine as always, and really shine on this song. The slew of head voice at the beginning is incredible and those power notes at the end are heavenly. Incredible vocal from her. And can you believe this CMA Country Christmas performance? This was 2014, and those notes were what came out while seven months pregnant with Isaiah! Who else could do that, and then go and do it again years later while pregnant with a second child?!

Rounding out the bottom 5, much to the chagrin of musicfan134, is "Little Drummer Boy," featuring vocals from 5-year-old Grammy winner in waiting, Carrie Underwood's firstborn son Isaiah Fisher. Carrie was initially going to record this song alone, but kept thinking of Isaiah when in the studio. So she asked him if he wanted to sing with her on it, and he said yes. The result is a boatload of cuteness!!! I'm sad I couldn't find space for this in my Top 10, but this didn't deserve bottom 5 status! If Isaiah decides after all not to follow in his mother's footsteps and pursue a music career (mother has said in interviews that he's really musically inclined and passionate about it!!), at least the Underwood/Fisher family has this priceless family heirloom that will be cherished forever.

If I had one wish On my Christmas list It wouldn't be for presents under my tree There'd be No more tears for crying No more wars for fighting And every mother's child would have enough to eat
So when I get down on my knees to pray I ask the Lord above to light the way.

Bowing out at #14 is "Let There Be Peace," the first of four original songs from My Gift. I personally love the song, but felt that it really didn't hold a candle to nearly anything on this list, so I put it in my bottom 2. I really love the vocal tho, and as you can see in that Today Show performance and her performance of it on the HBO Max special, she really sells and enhances the song in a live setting!
This started off at #18, as my list is what started the submission process. It managed to hit the Top 10 early on but was quickly pulled back. It held on tight to Top 15 status however, only slipping out into the bottom 5 for two lists before landing back into the Top 15 and staying there for the rest of the submission process.

Um excuse me Little Drummer Boy should not have been out THIS early. I do see where people might not like it as much as some of the other songs on here though.
All Is Well was my No. 19, but eh. I might've underranked it. My issue with the song is that I NEVER remember it. It's not a bad song, it's just so forgettable imo. I don't particularly like Michael's vocal on it either, which I think kind of counts against Carrie a little bit too.
Fortunately, the rest of my top 10 is still intact (for now) so the rankdown isn't cancelled yet.

What is "Let There Be Peace" doing being out already, that should be top 10 and definitely ahead of "Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee" and "Sweet Baby Jesus" as those two have overstayed

Well, apparently I was wrong about All Is Well. Which is too bad, because this is such an incredible vocal. I was SURE this would do well based on how much hype it has always had on Pulse.
This version of Little Drummer Boy is positively unlistenable. It’s cute that she got to sing with her son, but the problem is he sings for entirely too much of the song. It would be a cute moment if he sang his verse and then let momma sell the key change. Instead we get to listen to an auto-tuned toddler sing lead for like 75% of the song. Which makes it an unredeemable dumpster fire. I said what I said. I’m sorry to those who love it, but the fact that like 1/4 of us put it in last place tells you everything you need to know.
Shocked to see Let There Be Peace miss the top 10! As the only song on the regular album that even attempts to have a teeny tiny amount of energy to it, I figured it would be an easy top 10, if not top 5. I’m not really disappointed though. More intrigued.

“All Is Well” is gorgeous and should have stayed at least a bit longer!
I’m chill with the others being out at this point.

Everyone can say what they want about King Isaiah’s song, but it’s a fav with the general public...second most streams behind Hallelujah on Spotify, its views on YouTube went up the quickest to reach a million, etc. It created a lot of buzz and headlines for the album.

I can guarantee that CU alone on LDB would've sent it straight to the bottom for me, as without Isaiah this wouldn't have held a candle to much of anything else on this list imo. The cuteness of hearing mother and son sing together is just overwhelming to me, and elevates the song to a level that no other version has.

I agree with most of you! LDB has always been one of those Christmas songs I just don’t care for, and when she initially released the track list and said the name of the album came from the song, I was a bit hesitant in mama’s taste. However, this is now the definitive version and the mother/son duet has elevated the song a lot. I would have had little interest in hearing Carrie’s solo recording. But with Isaiah it is simply adorable and such a special and unique thing for a parent and child that they will have forever. Whenever I listen to it, I think of this and it really elevates the song for me. Really an all-around great move on Carrie’s part 🙌🏽

Prior to this rankdown I can’t recall ever hearing “All Is Well” before and it actually become one of my favorite discoveries in all of the Christmas rankdowns this year. It remained in my top through each edit and if I remember correctly was even in my top 3 at one point. I was quite blown away by Carrie’s vocals on this in which made it stand out amongst some of the other songs here. I suppose I can see why this might be a bit polarizing, but I still think it deserved better. Either way this is a song that I’ll for sure be coming back around to revisit again and again each holiday season. I don’t really have too much more to add to the conversation than what’s already been mentioned about “Little Drummer Boy”. As bboat11 mentioned it has a cute factor but otherwise Isaiah’s role encompasses too much of the song for me to really enjoy. I can only imagine some of the comments y’all would’ve made had George Strait let his grandson sing as much on “God and Country Music” as Carrie’s son did here. I’m completely shocked that “Let There Be Peace” left this early because I fully expected it to be a top 10 contender at a minimum. I guess I thought this was more well-liked, but obviously I was wrong!

That wasn't even a remotely sensible or linear comparison to make tho. Instead of providing receipts for all these supposed "All Is Well" stans that evidently don't exist given how the song performed here

Lol "All Is Well" is such an incredibly boring song. Carrie sounds great, but it's such a dreary melody. I am 0% surprised that it wound up low (in fact I am more surprised by a few people thinking it wouldn't be at the bottom of the barrel). And I also have no recollection of anyone hailing "All Is Well" as magnificent, not even from the Carrie artist thread. In fact, I don't think that that song once came up in discussion in that thread when talking about "My Gift".
Also "Little Drummer Boy" is an awful song that king Isaiah made so cute and fun. Haters can leave.
