Nah, I feel like I have enough room to talk in this case :kii:

The final song to miss out on the top 20 here is another jam from George Strait. "The Big One" is like one of the catchiest country songs of all time, period. I literally cannot fathom ranking it in the bottom 10. And yet that is exactly where our George Strait hater someguy , our man-hater .indulgecountry , and our '90s Country-hater kamala 2024 truther put it......none of whom were nearly as egregious though as randomly-floppy-for-no-reason austin !!! Aside from them, literally everybody else put it (nearly) in their top half This slander and defamation of my character, when Reba, Martina, Faith, and Trisha all sing some of my favorite songs of all time!!!

the absolute flopping of someguy, .indulgecountry, kamala 2024 truther, and especially austin. Just WOW! "The Big One" is one of my favorite George Strait songs (ranked it at #9 in the GS Singles Rankdown!). Also ranking this in last place when the two Pam Tillis 80s songs exist make that rank even more of a floppy rank lol Do hope to see "Blank Sheet of Paper", "Livin' On Love", "Angry All The Time", "Dime Store Cowgirl", and "Highway Don't Care" among the next 5 to go. Do like those 5 but like the other 15 songs even more. I do think there is a better chance that "These Days", "Heartland", and one of the Lee Ann Womack songs could be among the next 5.

Bonus: "You Can Feel Bad" - Patty Loveless
Finished at #1 in the:
Patty Loveless' epic '90s masterpiece "You Can Feel Bad" joined the list of rankdown winners for the first time in this set when it won Matraca Berg's songwriter rankdown! This song had previously been in our first RotB rd after finishing at #2 in Patty's singles rankdown behind "You Don't Even Know Who I Am". Of course, this song has also since become a rankdown winner for winning the Trouble With The Truth album rankdown a couple weeks ago, so look for it to be highlighted yet again as a bonus track in our next BotB :)

Bonus: "Famous In A Small Town" - Miranda Lambert
Finished at #1 in the:
"Famous In A Small Town" is a perennial Pulse favorite that has shown up very frequently in the upper regions of our rankdowns through the years! It finished at #3 in Miranda Lambert's singles rankdown on its very first outing, and then finished at #2 in the 2007 year-end rd, putting it into our second Revenge of the Best rankdown. It managed to WIN that rankdown, entering the hall of rankdown winners by claiming its revenge for all those times it had come up short! Right after that it finished at #3 in g8erboi 's personal rankdown of his favorite songs from the 2000s. It became a multi-rankdown winner for the first time in this last set, when it won Miranda's Crazy Ex-Girlfriend album rankdown! Another well-deserved victory for this song, for sure!

I've gotta say, this song has kinda grown on me a LOT though the years, so it's kinda cool to see it become a winner for the first time! Its best finish previously was at #3 in Kacey's first rankdown combining her first two albums, but ever since then Pulse has had a love affair with the Golden Hour songs and outside of "Follow Your Arrow" and "Merry Go Round" her early career hasn't been talked about a whole lot. This one its very catchy, and honestly is one I would have thought would have won something by now!

A lot of Rascal Flatts' songs have aged poorly for me due to overplay, but "These Days" is one that never gets old! That undeniable melody is one of the more iconic chorus moments from any group in the 2000s. It was nice to see this win a rankdown, as Rascal Flatts are never really on my radar as a likely winner in any multi-artist rankdowns! But if they deserved to with any song, it was definitely with this one!

Narrowly missing out on the top 15...by way of a tiebreaker(!)...is George Strait with yet another of his iconic #1 hits, "If I Know Me". I don't have a lot to say about this song, other than it is iconic! George has a real knack for delivering a wistful ballad, and this is one of those songs that nobody could do quite as well as him. He is also never one to shy away from substantive lyrics, and the way the way the narrator analyzes his own mindset as well as that of his wife in the aftermath of their big fight is fleshed out and delivered in a way that you just don't see from the modern males. Ultimately I always see this song as being really sweet, because the two of them share such a close bond with each other that they will not let a petty argument tear them apart. This one taste of the devastation that they feel seems like it will be enough to drive them back together for good

Out of curiosity, when did you get into country music? I got into around 2010 (grade 5 or so), but I started following more seriously (in a way I do now) after I moved to Canada in 2018. So yes, you can see my stronger attachment to more recent songs. That said, I have favs from 90s as well.

Which is definitely not a bad thing! Somebody has to make sure the modern artists get paid! 😂

Bonus: "Blown Away" - Carrie Underwood
Finished at #1 in the: Carrie Underwood Rankdown 2.0 (Host: kamala 2024 truther)
"Blown Away" became one of our very first country winners of all time when it won Carrie Underwood's first singles rd, and then it became a multi-rankdown winners shortly after that when it won its album rankdown. Since then it has had a couple of quiet years, but it recently made a comeback in epic fashion when it won the redo of Carrie's singles rankdown, followed almost immediately after with a victory in the 2012 country rd!!! Of course the 2012 rd happened just baaaaaarely outside the eligibility period for this rankdown (it was literally the third rd of the next eligibility period), so this song will get to be honored as a bonus track once again in our next BotB rd

"Send It On Down" is just such a lyrical juggernaut!!!! Holy cow! Chills from the first verse!!!
Melodically I can understand it not being everyone's cup of tea, so I feel like a top 15 showing is pretty respectable for it :)
