"Ain't Nothing 'Bout You" is just such an iconic jam in every sense of the word. The loud guitars are done in all the right ways (that intro is seriously one of my favorite musical moments in the history of country music), and there is like a perfect amount of steel guitar juxtaposing all the electric guitars perfectly and complementing them with a countermelody that is perhaps even more iconic. Plus Ronnie's vocals have the perfect amount of swagger and machismo to make a song like this sound believable, where it could have easily seemed a bit more sexist or over-the-top in the hands of somebody like Trace Adkins or Toby Keith. After seeing this come up at #3 in B&D's singles rd, I am so happy that this was finally able to win a rankdown in this set!!! And a top 15 placement is very respectable for this

Welp, there it is Darkest Hour! I feel like you hate Parker more just because other people love him so much, like me with Star Wars, Chris Stapleton with barbers, or raylatch98 with Sara Evans.

This doesn't move me at all, and like I said I only like Hold Me Back and that's because of Jessi Alexander's background vocals.

"She Didn't Have Time" would have been an easy top 10 contender, if it wasn't for....They-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named... This is such a great song. It was such an interesting change of pace for Terri, but imo it really paid off, as just like I said for "Damn Right" in the RotB thread, this is also a song that really doesn't age for me. It's a shame that label struggles prematurely ended her U.S. radio career during this album's promotion, as this song seemed destined to be an even bigger hit than it was, and the album is so great that it definitely could have had 4-5 solid hits if properly promoted.

Just missing out on the top 10 due to....wait for it...another tie-breaker (!), we say goodbye to the late Joe Diffie, one of the first high-profile victims of Covid-19 :( "Third Rock From The Sun" is such a jam!!! I love it so much! I would have thought it was a bit too polarizing to win his rankdown, but I was pleasantly surprised! (Still a little pissed at "Night To Remember" getting tanked out of the winning position and completely out of the top 3 tho at the last second... ) The story this song tells is just so ridiculous you can't help but love it, and of course the melody and Joe's vocals work perfectly together for a song like this. Now, like I said, this song tied with the #10 song... Our #10 song ultimately came out ahead tho because it is going to be our first MULTI-#1 LOSS!!!!

Well this is a phenomenal top 10! Probably because 7 of my top 10 made it in the actual top 10 lol. How many times has George made the top 10 for these rankdowns? I feel like I never see him make it super far in these.

I think previously he’d just made it with “Run” and “Write This Down”. I’ll have to check.

It was at #12! 😬 His only entry into the BotB Top 10s is “Ocean Front Property” at #9. ⚰️ RotB has had “Run” at #10, “Give It Away” at #6, and then “Living and Living Well” somehow made it all the way up to #5 😂

"Run" and "Give It Away" are both A+ though!

austin what the actual f**k tho Lmao like you have room to talk. Just wait 'til people see what your #50 is!!!! Although frankly nobody's last place is as egregious as someguy's... Literally makes zero sense. Fortunately we won't see it for awhile 😂 Atrocious lyrics, poor vocals.... how is my #50 in the top10 over these great songs that have missed out?

Bonus: "Before He Cheats" - Carrie Underwood
Finished at #1 in the: American Idol Series: Part 3 rankdown (Host: fireflies)
After being constantly stuck at #2 more than just about any song since Jo Dee's "Bye Bye", "Before He Cheats" FINALLY got its shot at revenge thanks to fireflies' American Idol series! This wasn't even on my radar at all because it was not a country rankdown, but Carrie ended up being victorious, thereby also claiming the very first country winner of a non-country rankdown that we have ever had!! I had to figure out how to handle it, but I decided to just put the rd in my spreadsheet like any other normal rankdown and treat this as just as legitimate of a winner as the other country winners. It of course was ineligible to be included in this BotB rd, because it has already been featured in our first Revenge of the Best after finishing at #2 in its first couple rankdowns.

Aaaahhhhhh, back when Chris Young was making some of the best country music of any modern male in the business "The Man I Want To Be" shocked some of us a bit when it won his singles rd over "Tomorrow", but there is no denying that it is an incredible song that deserved it! If Chris was still putting out music like this, he would be head and shoulders my favorite modern male vocalist right now. His voice is like warm butter, and worked so perfectly with the neo-traditional sound that he started out with.

The fact that out of all these incredible songs that are left, none of them are in your top 5, is pretty sad, lmao! Out of curiosity, when did you get into country music? I got into around 2010 (grade 5 or so), but I started following more seriously (in a way I do now) after I moved to Canada in 2018. So yes, you can see my stronger attachment to more recent songs. That said, I have favs from 90s as well. Oh so you're like my age!! I was ending third grade and starting fourth grade in 2010. (not to show my youth lol) I can see the recency! (Although I have tons of 90s favorites as well )
Bonus: "Blown Away" - Carrie Underwood
Finished at #1 in the: Carrie Underwood Rankdown 2.0 (Host: kamala 2024 truther )
"Blown Away" became one of our very first country winners of all time when it won Carrie Underwood's first singles rd, and then it became a multi-rankdown winners shortly after that when it won its album rankdown. Since then it has had a couple of quiet years, but it recently made a comeback in epic fashion when it won the redo of Carrie's singles rankdown, followed almost immediately after with a victory in the 2012 country rd!!! Of course the 2012 rd happened just baaaaaarely outside the eligibility period for this rankdown (it was literally the third rd of the next eligibility period), so this song will get to be honored as a bonus track once again in our next BotB rd Her power, her legacy, her impact.

Aaaaand there it is... After giving ClevelandRox false hope by his #1 song surviving the #10 elimination, it left next at #9 "Angry All The Time" is just such an interesting song lyrically! I've realized more and more lately how many unique perspectives Tim tends to offer in his songs. Seeing a man struggling to keep a relationship alive while his wife lets the world turn her so bitter and jaded that she becomes an entirely different person is such a powerful and fascinating premise, and one that is also raw and real, and not talked about nearly enough. With this elimination, "Highway Don't Care" still has a shot of making it to the end, so Tim ain't done yet! He is also the final artist with multiple songs standing in RotB, as he still has "Live Like You Were Dying" and "The Cowboy In Me" remaining in the top 8 of that rd! George Strait is now the last person to have multiple songs remaining in BotB!!!!! ( tim George Strait Junkie !!!!)

As is par for the course with Reba in these rankdowns, "The Fear Of Being Alone" was a slight #1 contender, which then proved to be a super strong top 2-3 contender for nearly the entire rankdown....only to then be completely tanked out of the top 5 at the last minute "The Fear of Being Alone" is easily in my top 5 favorite country songs of all time. This is one that came out when I was 2 years old, and I heard it on the radio as a toddler, so this is one of those songs (alongside "Blue Clear Sky", "Check Yes Or No", "Wild Angels", and a few others from that 1995-1996 time period) that is literally interwoven with the fabric of my childhood and permanently embedded in my soul. Of course I completely forgot about it because I was a toddler. And then when I was old enough to rediscover Reba's music on my own I heard this song and was immediately like "OH IT'S THIS SONG!!!!" There's just something so comforting about discovering a song that you don't realize you have known all your life, and then you hear it and everything feels complete and right with the world That's the way this song makes me feel. I literally cannot get enough of it. A very easy #1 choice for me here!

I mean, there might be a case to be made if we were ranking her random '70s and early '80s work. But not when we're ranking the literal best songs of her entire career....
