Highway Dont Care has always just been âbetter than OKâ for me even as a Taylor lover. Itâs never something I am mad to listen to but I never sit at home with my dogs and crank up this one either. Happy to see it go here.

"Highway Don't Care" always seems to be pretty polarizing on Pulse, and I do not get it. This is easily one of my favorite hits of the entire decade of the 2010s from any artist! Tim's delivery is flawless, Taylor's parts serve as a nice pause between the verses and choruses and also give the song a recurring them, and honestly Keith's guitar work makes the entire song. So glad to see this make the top 10 here, especially with two last place ranks!

I get that I'm 100% (well maybe 99% since George Strait Junkie appears to be with me lmao) in the minority for disliking "Highway Don't Care" here. It is highly loved on here and seems to be able to fairly easily beat out a lot of great country tunes, even some of Tim's own classic songs. And that is confusing to me lol. Like, after doing multiple album series rankdowns for Tim I realized that he actually does have a lot of music that I genuinely really love, single wise and some album tracks too. I don't know how HDC performed in Tim's singles RD, but I really hope it didn't beat out some of his classic 90s/early 2000s country songs b/c IMO it just can't compare. I know taste is subjective but I have a hard time understanding how, given Tim's overall catalog, this song could be in anyone's top 10 Tim McGraw tunes. And there are certainly a lot of great, classic, iconic country jams that it beat out here that it shouldn't have IMO End rant lol

Although I would have absolutely put "She Never Lets It Go To Her Heart" and "The Cowboy In Me" ahead of it at the very least... But I personally would have easily kicked "Humble And Kind" out of the top 10 long before I dreamed of pushing HDC out, lol 1. Just To See You Smile 2. Humble And Kind 3. Angry All The Time 4. Please Remember Me 5. Everywhere 6. Where The Green Grass Grows 7. Live Like You Were Dying 8. Something Like That 9. I Like It, I Love It 10. Highway Don't Care
11. If You're Reading This 12. My Next Thirty Years 13. She Never Lets It Go To Her Heart 14. The Cowboy In Me 15. Diamond Rings and Old Barstools 16. Don't Take The Girl 17. I Need You 18. Meanwhile Back At Mama's 19. Not A Moment Too Soon 20. Better Than I Used To Be

"Humble And Kind" being #2 in Tim's whole-ass full-career singles rankdown remains one of the biggest head scratchers of our entire rankdown trend. Recency bias is 100% the only explanation for that one to be ahead of songs like "Please Remember Me", "Where The Green Grass Grows", "She Never Lets It Go To Her Heart", etc....

Very interesting to see Caylee hanging in there so well alongside all of these all-time classics!!! Says a lot about "Small Town Hypocrite", tbh! (Get your shit together, label and radio!!!!!!)

Lmao like you have room to talk. Just wait 'til people see what your #50 is!!!! Although frankly nobody's last place is as egregious as someguy's... Literally makes zero sense. Fortunately we won't see it for awhile đ Atrocious lyrics, poor vocals.... how is my #50 in the top10 over these great songs that have missed out? I repeat this as it enters my top 5:

Wait I just realized that not only does this top 5 have two George songs, it also has more male songs than female songs This is very unusual for Pulse!!!! Might be a first for a highly competitive multi-artist rd of this nature! It happened in New Country Releases once, but an accomplishment like that in a rankdown like this is a MUCH bigger deal imo!

Anyway, the Pure Country soundtrack is one of the best country albums of all time, and "Heartland" is a certifiable jam that is an absolutely essentially cornerstone of the whole album. This anthemic ode to Southern living was seen as a bit of a risk for George at the time. He apparently was not sure how his fans would react because of the loud guitars and more rock edge. Ironically it would go on to become one of his biggest and most widely-loved hits, and a huge staple of his live shows!

Even though Last Call is my least fav of all the remaining songs by far, I definitely under-ranked it.
Edit: That said, I want it to leave before the other 3 songs

I've gotta say, "Last Call" has grown on me a LOT the more we've been ranking it in rankdowns. I always thought it was really boring back when it was out on radio, but I definitely have a whole new appreciation for it thanks to her album series!

âLast Callâ is such a good song. It may be a hot take but I like it more than âI Hope You Danceâ.

Ugh, "True" is another one of those songs that I just cannot ever adequately describe my love for. There is just something so warm and friendly in George's vocals here Speaking of vocals, this is a HARD song to sing well, and George doesn't get enough credit for that fact. I can honestly not list a single song by any of the modern males that would be anywhere near as vocally challenging as this one. I am beyond thrilled to see King George reach the top 3 in one of these rankdowns!!! And it couldn't have been with a more deserving song

"True" is such an earworm and I gotta tell you that hearing this over the summer of 1998 on radio was great. I know that this has always seemed to be a Pulse favorite and is certainly one of his hits that still receives some recurrent airplay, but aside from that I never heard George sing this song live much if at all. It just has one of those vocal ranges that I don't think he's comfortable with doing in a live show.

It would certainly be one of those songs that is super hard on your voice to try to sing every single night in the middle of a huge tour. I can't say I blame him! Lol
